My iPod doesn't know video from songs

Suddenly, out of nothing, my 60Gb iPod with video forgot what is video and what is song. I used to have video lists and song lists. Now, they're all mixed up together in both sections. And it stopped playing videos. It thinks they're songs. It's very weird. The iPod thinks the first frame of the video is the album cover and starts playing just the audio... does anyone know what the heck is going on? Thanks

Thanks, but I'm trying to avoid restoring, because I lost most of the videos in there... I was trying to watch them before I restored...

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music'  then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

    Hi Rikk,
    Thanks for answering.
I downloaded and installed the DNG Converter 7.1, then opened Lr again, but it's still not opening the files.  Am I doing something wrong?
    Please advise.

  • Ipod doesn't show all the songs listed in Itunes even after sync is complete

Ipod doesn't show all the songs listed in Itunes even after sync is complete

I'm going through the same thing, I've tried de-authorizing and re-authorizing my computer and that seems to help. I haven't gotten all my songs back yet, but I've got about 75% of it back.

  • Playlist on ipod doesn't add all the songs from itunes playlist.

I made a playlist on itunes and then synced my ipod and not all the songs are on the playlist. They're on my ipod just not on the playlist. I don't have iTunes Match and I've tried pretty much everything. I bought all the songs either with CDs or through itunes. It's annoying all the songs are on my itunes playlist and then they're not all on my ipod playlist. I have 1000+ songs on my playlist and I hate having to find what songs are missing. Is there a way to fix this. I even reset my ipod and did it again and it still dose it. Regardless if it's on manual of not. :( someone please help me fix this. I have the iPod touch 5th gen

Ok, I deleted the two files and upon startup iTunes did run that search wizard for music files. However, it only found 4 songs that are located on local harddisks, and did not (as far as I could see on the network status) even try to search on the network harddisk.
One more thing though, that I forgot to mention before. I tried to solve this situation by installing an earlier version of iTunes... 4.6 i think, but when I tried to run the program it told me something like "Cannot read the file iTunes library.itl since it was created by a later version of iTunes". Where can i find that file, and should i remove it and try to add the songs with iTunes 4.6 instead?
(Thanks so much for all your help!)

  • Video ipod won't play videos from podcasts

my ipod plays movies and videos perfectly, but any video casts from the podcasts i subscribe to only come up as a still image, like cover art, but don't play a video. does anyone know why that would be or how to fix it? thanks for your time!

Go to Videos on the main menu then to Video Podcasts. This should play them like videos but if you went under Music to Podcasts it just plays the audio.

  • My ipod doesn't know when it's charging or not...please help!

Ok, I have some serious problems with my ipod video. It doesn't know if it's connected to the charger or not. The battery empty really fast, lasts for maybe 4 hours music on a full charge.
When I connect it to the charger it doesn't start charging before I do a reset. When disconnecting it still thinks it's charging (even if I do a reset), so then it wont turn off.
Is there anything I can do?
I also wonder if it's possible to do complaints in applestores located in other countries than the country where you first bought your product?
Great thanks if anybody can help me!

    Hi,
You may have a bad battery. However, try the steps suggested here and if all else fails, contact Apple Support.

  • Disconnected iPod Doesn't Show Videos

I have an 8GB iPod mini and I'm trying to add a few short videos onto it. The videos have been converted to M4V's; uploaded to my iTunes and copied onto my iPod. Through iTunes, the summary of my iPod shows that they're there (Video 37.7MB); when I click on the Movies list they show up (though a couple of them have blue balls beside them while the others don't). But when I disconnect my iPod and go to the Video Playlist it says there's nothing there... what am I missing here?
    Thanks for any help!

    Oh. Maybe it's not a mini... I don't remember what it's called anymore! :P
Maybe it's a nano, because it does have a menu item called 'Video Playlist' (when not plugged into iTunes), and when it is plugged into iTunes it shows a 'Movies' menu.
I dragged the videos from my desktop to the Movies folder in the iTunes Library. Selected the videos from there and dragged them onto my iPod.

  • IPod doesn't play the whole song

I have a couple of songs that are about 5.5 minutes long. However, whenever I play them on my iPod the songs always end at 5 minutes. I don't have this problem when I play the song on iTunes. The songs were not ripped from a CD, but are mp3 files. Is there any way to fix this?
By the way, I have a 4th generation iPod if that matters.

    I maybe can answer.
One reason can be if you didn't update you iPod correctly, that happend to me.
And the other reason can be that you didn't convert your CD's correctly, that have happend me too.
That's what i know, try to update iPod again, if that doesn't work. Then erase your songs from the list and import then again.
    It worked for me.

  • Even my iPod doesn't know what's wrong with it.

I have a 4th Gen iPod that just stopped working a few months ago. I have checked the iPod support pages, but I have the apparently unique problem of getting pretty much every error message that you can get. The Sad iPod, the Folder and exclamation mark, the low battery symbol, and sometimes the Apple apple for a few seconds before it turns off.
It doesn't seem like it's a battery issue, since it was working fine one day and then just stopped starting up the next. It might be, though, I simply don't know. I've been pretty much resigned to the probability that my iPod is broken forever, but I really miss it.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this and know what is wrong? I highly doubt that several problems just started over the course of one night, but I get all the error messages. My iPod isn't covered under warranty any more, so if there is some way to get it fixed, knowing the cost for fixing whatever is wrong would be helpful as well.
    Thanks.

I'm assuming you tried to restore/update it.
It sounds like either a nasty hardware issue or you could have corrupted files on your iPod.
When all else fails, get a refurb from apple.
Their cheaper and just as good.

  • HELP! my Ipod doesn´t accept videos!

    Hi everybody! I need help
I got a problem and I have no clue how to solve it, well it all start when I try to pass Videos, (movies, music-videos...) to my Ipod, even I passed them before to whatever format it ask me for, I think is MP4, it says that they cannot be played on this Ipod(even is a 30GB Ipod) and when I go to the video setting the video ones are like block! I´m sure is a Ipod that I can play videos on, why it dosen´t let me pass videos on?
thanks a lot for your help.

Just having your video in MP4 won’t necessarily make it compatible with the iPod.
Here are the correct formats for you:
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
Now if you dont know how to convert video use this:

It's not really that good but it's easy and it's freeware.

  • IPod doesn't play music from certain artists

Every time I select about 5 of my songs from Linkin Park they will not play (this goes for only some songs by this artist only). When I play the song, it shows the beginning screen, and then skips to the next song. If I pause it and skip ahead it goes back to the beginning. Why is this happening?

Do the songs play ok in iTunes? Have you tried
deleting them from the iPod and then re-load them?
They do play in iTunes, but I haven't tried reloading them yet. I got them from iTunes about half a year ago and about 3 months after that they just stopped playing.

  • Is there anyway to separate music videos from songs on my iPhone?

When I go to the "songs" section of my iPod my music videos I have on their play as well. Is there any way to separate them so the music videos don't play when I go to the songs portion of my iPod? Like maybe have music videos in a separate playlist?

You can put them in separated playlists in iTunes then sync over.

  • My ipod wont play certain music from Songs, but the playlists work fine, why is this happening?

after the most recent Ipod update (along with the recent Itunes update) my ipod has been acting weirder than normal......on occassion it has frozen up or completely erased all my music when i connect it to my computer and has been sayng it's corrupted (it has since stopped doing this once i updated it but the past few days i have had to restart it numerous times) and when i plug it into itunes it freezes itunes and i have to argue with the thing just to synce my music!
all the music that is on Songs has been added so it CAN locate the original file so im not sure why all of a sudden it wont work...

    This may work:
    -Plug in your iPod
-Remove the song files from your iPod
    -Disconnect your iPod
    -Reset your iPod
    -Plug in your iPod
-Send the songs back onto your iPod
