My iPod doesn't sync to my PC

Hello all,
Recently I got a new PC. My iPod Touch (not sure which version, got it for Christmas last year) was set up with the old one, and so I downloaded iTunes on this new one today. All went fine, I connected my iPod to the PC via the USB cable and got a pop-up saying new software was available for my iPod. My old computer was crap at downloading anything so i hadn't synced it with that in about two months, so it hardly surprised me. Ok, so I told it to upgrade to the new iOS version. At some point it said there was an unknown error. All I was offered was an OK button, so I clicked that. Ever since I've not been able to use my iPod.
It says that it wants to be connected to iTunes whenever I start it. But when I do that, iTunes just doesn't recognise there's an iPod hooked up to the laptop, so it wont help me fix the problem. I already tried removing the iPod and then plugging it back in, restarting the whole laptop, resetting the iPod, but it keeps giving me the same "Connect to iTunes" screen... Also, I can't restore the old version cause it doesn't show in iTunes. I really dunno what to do anymore Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance

Which OS & iTunes versions do you have?

  • IPod doesn't sync with iTunes anymore!! HELP!!

I am in complete despair - my iPod doesn't sync with iTunes anymore. It all started a couple of days ago, after installing the latest updates of both, iTunes and iPod. After that, I noticed that the iPod wasn't synching the changes and new additions I had made in iTunes.
I tried everything so far with no success. I did reset the iPOd, reinstalled the iPod updater, than did a RESTORE and now my iPod is completely empty, but refuses to download my music from iTunes.
When connected, it shows up, start "updating iPod" and several seconds later shows "update complete". In the iPod window I can all the songs (in grey) from my library, but they are not being transferred to my iPod!!!
    Please, help!!

I think I know the problem and it's solution. The iPod "thinks" it's linked to a different library and therefore does not synchronize. No idea what happens in the background there, but here is what I did:
First, I went back to the previous update on the iPod (not sure if that's necessary at all, but I just wanted to go to where I started from.
The UNinstalled iTunes (to be safe I backed up my tunes) and reinstalled it. Then pasted backed up tunes into new iTunes music folder and overwrote newly created iTunes library files.
Then I connected the iPod, which now told me that I had an old version and needed to update, which I did.
Then a window popped up and told me that my iPod was connected to a different library and if I want to connect to this one, overwriting everything on the iPod, which I said yes to (it didn't matter anyway, since it was now empty after the RESTORE I had done).
iPod then downloaded all the songs from my library again and we are as happy together as we've been before
I think what happened was that after installing the latest update, that window with the "different library connection" had popped up as well and I must have clicked NO because of the "overwrite" comment which scared me. Unfortunately, even with "reset warnings" it then never popped up again and until I reinstalled iTunes.
    Hope this helps!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod doesn't sync with iTunes at all...

I'm having trouble with my iPod is because it does not sync with the computer. I assume the iPod doesn't recognize it somehow. I've tried to manually manage music and videos but when it told me to disconnect, the box was not checked. Awhile back, I deleted some music from the MY MUSIC folder, the folder was too full of music that it deleted all of my music, (including videos). My only concern is that my iPod has stopped syncing to the computer ever since this incident occurred. If you can, please share what needs to be done in order for my iPod to sync properly and gain all the songs and videos I had added after losing EVERYTHING Thank you.

  • My ipod doesn't sync

I added some new music to my itunes library and tried to sync it with my ipod touch but the song don't appear in my ipod touch. With my ipod shuffle it works perfectly but with the ipod touch it just doesn't sync and the songs aren't in my ipod. They are in the itunes library but they aren't in the ipod. I've already tried everything I unplugged and plugged the ipod I closed the itunes and opened it again I shut the ipod down and turned it on again and it still doesn't work. Also, some songs I had in my ipod are disappearing and I didn't delete them. Please help me!!! I wanna hear my new songs!

I've had always my music library really tight, I
mean, I have the artists, and their respective
albums, with their respective songs ordered in the
proper way as the original records.
I've never had a problem and everything worked
fine, until I installed Itunes 7.0: when I sync my
Ipod the songs aren't anymore like Itunes displays,
they are ordered and displayed from better to worst
sound quality (kbps), and I can no longer listen to
the records in their original order, making my Ipod
useless since I'm a big fan of prog rock, and many
albums are conceptual therefore there is a linear
story, I mean, there's a particular order in which
the artist wants their songs to be listened. I can't
listen to my music in the way it should be listened
thanks to Itunes 7.0... Please Help!!!

  • My iPod doesn't sync all my music! HELP! :(

Hello there! I happen to be having a couple of troubles with my iPod classic lately. The last one and the most miserable one is that last night when I added three new albums on my iTunes Library and then synced my iPod to copy them on it, I noticed that all my music has been reduced from 54gb to 19 gb!! I was and still am in schock because I dunno what happened! I've done like I usually do and got no error during the syncing process. I still have 54gb of music on my pc and iTunes even now, but my iPod won't sync for more than 2 minutes so it can't copy all the music on it.
I gotta mention that my iTunes is up to date, I've got a new perfectly working computer and my iPod is also pretty new (bought it earlier this year).
PLEASE HELP ME FOUND A SOLUTION TO THIS!!
P.S I'm going on a long enough road trip next week so my iPod breaking down right now is a complete nightmare
    THANKS!

My Suggestions, when syncing an iPod Classic on a Windows machine.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
    Stop the Antivirus program
    Disconnect all other USB Devices
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC. (if you are using a Desktop PC)
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem. (if you have more than a few GB of Others)
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
    Sync your iPod.
    Good Luck!

  • IPod doesn't sync right and iPod freezes

I personally have an 80gig, and love it so far (I've only had it for about a week). Before that I had an iPod nano 2nd gen that died, but thankfully I had the Best Buy replacement plan on it and I got to replace it free!
But my issue is with my mom's ipod. Its an ipod nano 3rd gen and when I add new music to her iTunes, and then sync her iPod, it doesn't put them on her iPod. Today she got to work and went to listen to them, and was really disappointed, because I'd spent quite a while downloading yesterday and then they weren't there. I just synced it again, and they are there now, but this isn't the first time it has happened. Whats up with this, it shouldn't be happening.
It also freezes every couple of times its used and about every other time I disconnect it from the computer.
Is anyone else having these problems? Have you found any solutions?
Apple, what are you doing about this, this is the 2nd iPod nano (different gen's) that we've had alot of trouble with, you need to step it up and get them working properly!
    Thanks,
    Amy

Try to do the [5R|http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs> and also download the newest version of iTunes (to do so go to  > Software Update)

  • Plugging in my iPod doesn't sync

    Hello, all,
I have a problem that I'm hoping isn't the age of my system or iPod.
My iPod is old. I bought it in 2003/2004 (I don't remember which) and it's ancient. It still works well, though.
My iMac is also old. I bought it, second-hand, years ago and use it solely for A/V stuff like my music.
My iMac runs 10.4.11, has a 1Ghz PowerPC G4 Processor, and has been connected to my iPod doc for years.
Suddenly, plugging my iPod into the doc stopped working. While it powers up and charges just fine, the iPod itself doesn't show up on my iMac's desktop. I have re-seated the cables (I believe it's a Firewire connection) and even tried using the other port. I have shut down and restarted. I have let the computer sit overnight, turned off, before turning it on again. I have looked in the Apple Support documents and found the advice to use the "System Profiler" to check to see if the device is recognized and I do see "FireWire Bus:  Maximum Speed:  Up to 400mb/sec" but nothing else on the FireWire page.
This is very odd and I'm hoping someone can help me out on this.

    Sylvan012

  • Help, my iPod doesn't sync all my music

Ok, I transfered my music from my old pc to my new mac, via my ipod. One problem when I went to sync my music back onto my ipod not all the music would sync. This message keeps appearing,
Some of the items in the itunes library were not copied to
the ipod because you are not authorized to play them on this
    computer.
I've tried authorizing my mac, but it doesn't seem to do anything. What am I missing? Is there something else I can do? There are 100 songs that won't sync, most of which I purchased from the itunes store.
Please help, and thanks in advance to anyone who can help out.

After fiddling with my itunes library i was able to authorize my computer, and then succesfully synced my ipod, thanks anyway
