My iPod doesn't sync with my 64 bit Windows 7 computer.

My iPod has software version 4.2.1. I have the latest version of iTunes installed. The error message that I get is This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64 bit version of iTunes. I downloaded the 64 bit version. Shouldn't this be working?

  • IPod doesn't sync with iTunes anymore!! HELP!!

I am in complete despair - my iPod doesn't sync with iTunes anymore. It all started a couple of days ago, after installing the latest updates of both, iTunes and iPod. After that, I noticed that the iPod wasn't synching the changes and new additions I had made in iTunes.
I tried everything so far with no success. I did reset the iPOd, reinstalled the iPod updater, than did a RESTORE and now my iPod is completely empty, but refuses to download my music from iTunes.
When connected, it shows up, start "updating iPod" and several seconds later shows "update complete". In the iPod window I can all the songs (in grey) from my library, but they are not being transferred to my iPod!!!
    Please, help!!

I think I know the problem and it's solution. The iPod "thinks" it's linked to a different library and therefore does not synchronize. No idea what happens in the background there, but here is what I did:
First, I went back to the previous update on the iPod (not sure if that's necessary at all, but I just wanted to go to where I started from.
The UNinstalled iTunes (to be safe I backed up my tunes) and reinstalled it. Then pasted backed up tunes into new iTunes music folder and overwrote newly created iTunes library files.
Then I connected the iPod, which now told me that I had an old version and needed to update, which I did.
Then a window popped up and told me that my iPod was connected to a different library and if I want to connect to this one, overwriting everything on the iPod, which I said yes to (it didn't matter anyway, since it was now empty after the RESTORE I had done).
iPod then downloaded all the songs from my library again and we are as happy together as we've been before
I think what happened was that after installing the latest update, that window with the "different library connection" had popped up as well and I must have clicked NO because of the "overwrite" comment which scared me. Unfortunately, even with "reset warnings" it then never popped up again and until I reinstalled iTunes.
    Hope this helps!

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Software and Drivers for an HP Scanjet 5590 with a 64 bit Windows 7 computer.

I thought that I had posted the following question but as I can't find it I will try again.  I have been given a HP Scanjet 5590 scanner with no Software or Drivers for 64 bit Windows 7 computer and looking through the Web I saw some awful comments on the experiences of those using the software and drivers.  I don’t want to make the same mistake so could anyone tell me how to go about obtain the correct software and drivers?

    Corporal,
Here is the link for the software...
If you have the "p" model, backtrack a the link and reselect the proper model.
You want the "Full Feature" software.
Note that the download size is 315MB - plan accordingly if you have a slow connection...
While you are there, be sure to download the Print Doctor utiltity.  (Do that first, it is tiny.)  This may help later with installation and connection issues, if needed.)

  • IPod doesn't sync with iTunes at all...

I'm having trouble with my iPod is because it does not sync with the computer. I assume the iPod doesn't recognize it somehow. I've tried to manually manage music and videos but when it told me to disconnect, the box was not checked. Awhile back, I deleted some music from the MY MUSIC folder, the folder was too full of music that it deleted all of my music, (including videos). My only concern is that my iPod has stopped syncing to the computer ever since this incident occurred. If you can, please share what needs to be done in order for my iPod to sync properly and gain all the songs and videos I had added after losing EVERYTHING Thank you.

  • How to sync with vista 64 bit windows calendar and windows contacts

    Hi all,
I see the clear msg on the Palm site saying that 64 bit windows is not supported, but that is still my need and my goal.  I just bought a new DELL desktop and am transitioning to it, but this is a showstopper.
I want to ask if any user has suggestions or if anyone has insight as to if/when palm will sppt it.  Today its hard to buy a machine in a retail store that is not loaded w Vista64...and I spoke to Dell about this, since they need to warn people that the OS may prohibit a person from replacing his old Dell with a new one, but they say its a Palm/Msft problem.
My Tungsten E2 is important to me, and I want to sync it daily.  I am not very sophisticated when it comes to PC's or the OS's although i have learned a lot in the past 3 days.  I have no room to keep 2 machines, nor desire.  Any suggestions besides 'let the buyer beware'?

    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

I've been a Palm user for only 1 Year now and am not impressed.  Sure the 755P was a flashy device with cool features.  However, now after owning the device for a short period I'm looking for updates from Palm which don't exist.  The browser in antiquated and doesn't support recent technology.  The email system is effective, however, hope you don't receive an HTML email because you can't read it in Versamail.  Palm is focused on trying to produce new devices which compete with the IPhone and Storm but aren't remembering that their loyal customers will continue to purchase devices from them if they keep them happy. Futher, after upgrading my wife's laptop to Vista 64-bit I find that we can no longer sync the device using the interface cable.
My advice at this time, is to stay away from Palm until they provide the service which customers have come to expect.  I note today 12/7/08 that Palm is selling at $1.42 a share when just 8 years ago Palm stock was selling for $472.50.  Don't you see the picture, people are interested in the new flashy devices, but, if you don't take care of your customer base which has been loyal they will jump ship and move on to the better technology which works.
How about providing the updates we need to work today.  It will help me make up my mind next year when this 2-yr contract with Alltel is up (and i become a new Verizon) customer.
The matter is all in Palm's hands.  I don't see this company surviving past 2010 unless they start taking care of people now.  My advice, stay away from Palm until they fix all these issues which people have identified throughout the web.

  • 4th generation Itouch won't sync with Itunes on my Windows 8 computer

Yes, the computer can recognize my device, though when I click "sync," it goes through the steps and on (Step 3 of 6) Determining apps to sync - the progress bar just stops. I could sync my music by unclicking "sync music" (deleting my itouch library) and then clicking "sync music." However, I can not sync my apps ... I've tried dragging and dropping and the app picture shows up, but it doesn't sync. Any help would be appreciated

  • IPod doesn't sync with iTunes on Windows Vista

    Hi there!
    I'm experiencing the following problem:
the iPod charges when connected to my pc, but doesn't display within iTunes (and Windows Explorer). The 'round load' icon displays for 2 seconds in my iPod when I connect it via my USB 2.0, then disappears.
A few times it has appeared, but then I got a message that the iPod isn't functioning properly anymore (with iTunes) and that the iPod needs to be reset.
When I'm chosing the option to restore, I see a window with a downloading bar but it seems to keep hanging. I tried to restore my iPod several times via this procedure, but even if I waited some hours it is still loading, so it seems to keep hanging within this process.
In order to see wheter this problem has already been known and solved, I've read through the knowledgebase.
I have read the following article:
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes for Windows
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61711
Unfortunately, proceeding through these steps didn't help me further. Also, I read through the following threads:
My iPOD is not being recognized by my computer.....
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=856777&tstart=30
iPod, when plugged in charges, but doesn't show up on windows, or itunes.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=736748&tstart=0
The action steps provided within these threads also didn't help me further.
Could you please help me to resolve this issue?
Thank you for your time reading this post, any help is appreciated.

I wonder wheter there is a possibility to add files like screenshots and process dumps in order to give the ability for further analysis.

  • IPod shuffle doesn't sync with iTunes??

iPod shuffle doesn't sync with iTunes??

After connecting it, the light should continue to flash (if you use the Manually manage music or Enable disk use setting), or it should become a solid (not flashing) color (if you use automatic syncing).  The light going OFF may indicate that the shuffle is not able to charge.  You are using the original USB cable that came with the shuffle (it has a mini-dock), correct?
That problem could be caused by the shuffle itself.  Since a 2nd gen shuffle is at least five or six years old at this point, it may be the battery becoming worn out.  It may also be a problem on the USB port.  As a test, try shutting down (powering off) the Mac and disconnect all USB devices (including any hub), except for standard keyboard and mouse (if used).  Do this to reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1655
Start up the Mac, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the Mac.  Is there any difference?

  • My iPod does not sync with my iTunes.

All of a sudden when I try to sync my iPod classic with my MacBook Air the iPod doesn't sync. I get the do not disconnect message, but the iPod doesn't mount as a device in iTunes. The iPod icon does show up on the desktop. I have tried all the suggested solutions on the Apple support page (reset, reload iTunes, etc.). Didn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have an even older iPod that started doing the same thing occasionally. It may be that you have some bad sectors on your iPod hard drive. If you can get the iPod to mount in iTunes, you should do a complete restore. If it will not mount in iTunes you should try this:
    Unmount the iPod from desktop.
    Close iTunes.
Reconnect iPod. If iTunes does not open, great, go to next step. If iTunes opens, but iPod does not mount in      iTunes, close iTunes.
Open disk utility. Click on iPod volume, then choose erase tab.
    Choose Mac Os extended.
Ignore the warning that iPod won't work. You are basically reinitializing and reformating the hard drive.
After drive is erased/reformated, unmount the iPod.
    Open iTunes
Reconnect the iPod. It should now ask you if you want to install iTunes, etc, etc. and you should be able to      restore all your tunes.
