My Ipod Doesn't Work!!!!

Apple really has a fantastic way of screwing their customers. It's amazing a company with this type of customer support can stay in business. Just got off the phone with technical support, after my second ipod in the last 6 months has broken for no reason. I asked them, is this normal? He responds "ya, ipods are build to have a life of about a year. Really? 300 bucks for at best a years worth of use? Good deal. Here is the best part. If you are under warrenty you have to pay $40 to ship? Have you ever heard of something that weights under a pound costing $40 to ship? Here's an even better thing about apples repair service. They send you a refurbished unit that inherits the old Ipods warrenty. Pretty brillant. They build an Ipod to break just before your warrenty expires. You spend $40 to get a new unit. But you only have a matter of weeks before that warrenty expires, and then guess what happens? You guessed it, your Ipod breaks again for no reason. What do they suggest? You can pay $265 to get that repaired, or you can spend $300 for a new Ipod. Great deal either way wouldn't you say? There website says award winning service. They must hand out their own awards. Like best service and support for screwing your customers. And of course they don't have an email option so you can send your complaints, because their mailbox would fill up to quickly to ever get a response. Cheers to Ipod for building garbage products, having horrible service, and yet still managing to sell millions of products. I wish I knew how they did it!

iPods have some nice features, but Ill take less features to have something that is reliable and consistent. My iPod works like a charm for 3 weeks and is worthless until I scour the internet just to find a solution for something that honestly....NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED.
Either Apple has mediocre production lines, or they are making garbage hardware so that one has to RE-purchase an iPod. Well, hopefully they would go with something other than an iPod. But, who knows. All I know is that I wish I had the $$ to spend so that I could either A)speak with Apple support over the telephone or B)replace my iPod (with something different).
Its such a shame too, because I hear great things from Apple computer owners/users.

    Try to do a Reset and a Restore, bear in mind please make sure that you have all the music with your iTunes on your computer, as doing a Restore will erase all the data in your iPod

    Try:                                               
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on           
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable       
    - Try on another computer                                                       
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Being the new owner of an iPod, I was unaware that I was required to use iTunes to manage data. Instead, I browsed the iPod's files using Windows Explorer and manually deleted a folder of pictures. Now my iPod no longer works; it displays a link to the Apple support site. My computer no longer recognizes the iPod (once it is connected, it displays the removable drive in My Computer, but doesn't show up in iTunes. iPod Updater freezes when the iPod is connected.), so I cannot restore it.     had the same problem aswell mate, dont worry its not too complicated
    1st step is to get ur ipod into disk mode and open my computer. once here right click on removable disk and select format. if this works that means ur computer is atleast responding to your ipod and the problem should be over and done with.
    if that doesnt work goto step 2
    step 2 is, when you turn your ipod on does it make any sounds??? if it makes some beeps and little sounds you have a problem with your hard disk in the ipod. not to worry if your ipods new its under warranty and you can send it back.
    step3 is to call apple on 1-800-275-2273 between 9 am and 9pm. follow the prompts and talk to a consultant.
    the same thing happened to me, so everything above is what i was told from an ipod consultant. good luck and dont stress.

    my ipod doesn't start properly it shows that file icon wioth the caution symbol, and sometimes shows a battery icon with that same symbol, when it connects it stays connected for a few secondsthen it restarts a there is a clicking sound coming from the ipod.

    If you are getting the "sad iPod" and the iPod's hard drive clicking, these are both indicators that your iPod's hard drive is probably out of place. Before you go to Apple about this, try this and see if it solves the problem for you:
    To get your iPod's hard drive back into its correct place, use you hand to tap it firmly on both sides several times, or until if you hear the hard drive stop the clicking.
    This isn't a joke, because an Apple employee instructed someone to do this, and it has worked for many people ever since!

  • Radio in IPod doesn't work anymore?

    I bought a radio remote which I have been always using in my IPod until one day it doesn't work with my ipod anymore.
    The radio option is not visible in the menu. What's weird however, is that the remote still works - I can navigate through my songs list, turn up/down the volume and when I connect the earphones on the jack, I can still hear music. I've tried connecting the remote to other ipods and it works.
    Is there anyway I could have this fixed without changing the whole board?

    You have to use the ipod Software Updater to restore your ipod. if you're using itunes 7 (or 7.0.1) then you can simply restore the ipod from the iPod Summary Screen. if your ipod is not showing up in itunes or you're using an older version of itunes then you should download the iPod Software Updater from: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ipodupdater20060628forwindows.html
    Then connect your ipod to your computer and open the Software Updater and click Restore. Hope this helps.

    My wife got me this ipod for graduation last year. I am just a couple months outside the 'warranty' and it doesn't work. The thing cost like $400 at the time.. and it will cost almost $300 to look at fixing.
    This is extremely disappointing. I thought apple made better quality products before this experience. I had to send it back twice because of the battery charge problem and now it just doens't work period.

    I paid and downloaded the 2.0 update, but when I try to install it makes it to backing up iPod then I get error 1602 and it cancels. My iPod touch becomes unuseable all it shows is the connect to itunes symbol, but itunes can't find my ipod and it doesn't work. I paid $10 for the update and I'm sitting here with an unupdated iPod that can't do anything.
    Anyone else have this problem or knows how to fix it?

    While I haven't used it, QT 7 and the iPod preset (H264 encoding) seem to be quite slow compared to other compressors. Many people have mentioned the seeming freeze, while other state that if you let it run long enough it will eventually finish the project. If you don't have the patience to wait, you might want to try exporting to mpeg-4 and see if that works a bit faster.

    You should always have backup of your iTunes folder.
    Downgrading to iTunes 9 will not cause you to lose your music etc.
    Have you checked via Software Update in the System Preferences for any updates.
    Have you tried the 5 R's for the iPod?
