i was using it yesterday and the sink was pretty full. the ipod (nano 4th gen.) fell in by accident and i didn't use it for most of the day. i tried playing it, it played for a while and then it said 'low battery.'
so now, i tried it again and apparently it only works when it's plugged in the computer somewhat. but when i take it out, the screen is black
what can i do? i dont want him to find out that it fell in water :/  if i have to get it replaced, how much will it cost cause i heard they don't cover liquid damage & we bought this ipod like 2 years ago so we're not on warranty

  • My iPod fell into the toilet!!

its a second generation, 8 gig ipod. it dosnt work at all so i put it into a bag of rice to suck all the water out. any tips? can it be repaired and if so for how much?

Change the rice daily for a week. Then:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPod Touch Fell Into The Tub!

My iPod Touch fell into the tub. Within 1 to 2 seconds I got it out immediately. It was on when it fell into the tub. After retreiving it I set it on the floor and turned it off. After completing my errands I set it on the nearby stand. As I was finishing up I saw a flash of light go on and off. For the last couple of days I thought it was just completely dead until I figured out that if you press the "home/menu" button and swipe your hand where the "unlock screen" should be you hear the click. You can also hear the click when I turn my iPod off. Also, I have put it in extreme lighting and tilted it a certain way and could see the home menu with all the different apps. You have to strain to see that. I could make out the utilities button and clicked on it to see if adjusting the brightness would help anything. It is up the whole way and it doesn't make a difference. The screen is still as dark as can be. I clicked on the music button and chose the nearest song and it played perfectly. I have also clicked on apps and you can hear the noise even though the screen is so dark that you have to strain to see anything and put it under the brightest light in the world. Please help!!! I'm not exactly sure what the problem is exactly. The screen isn't cracked or anything like that.
THINGS THAT HAVE NOT WORKED ON FIXING MY IPOD
    1. Nearest Apple Store is WAY out of my way.
    2. Tried adjusting the brightness.
    3. Put in a bowl of uncooked rice. (I'm sure there wasn't any water in it to begin with.)
    4. Pressed home/menu button and sleep/power button at same time and 8 to 15 seconds in released sleep/power button while still holding the home button and released.
    5. Updating iTunes software.

Even though you don't believe water enter into it, the fact that it's not working properly confirms that it did get wet inside. It apears that the LCD panel backlight is not functioning. the only cure for this is to have the LCD panel replaced. Hopefully nothing else will fail later due to the water damage. Hope this Helps.

  • My iPod fell down the toilet....

...erm, ya. I was trying to throw something away and the iPod slipped out of my hand and fell into the toilet. I got it out in about 1 second and it was on and playing still. I dried it off as fast as possible and tried to turn it off, but the lock was on and wouldn't turn off. I tried plugging it in (Oops.) and this message came on the iPod's screen, but I couldn't read it because it was too dark. so i left it alone and it is standing upright right now and it has been for about a day and i has not been touched since. What elese should I do and how long should i keep it like it is right now? I there any hope for my iPod??? Thanx bunches!!!
      Windows XP

OK, I left it alone for a week then tried to turn it
on. it didnt work. so i left it alone for about
another day. and then i tried to turn it on. didnt
work. so i tried to plug it in. no luck. my ipod is
dead. end of story. just a piece of advise for
everyone- NEVER take you iPod near a bathroom, sink
or anything having to do with water, i'll waste all
your money that you paid for it (in my case
    $300)!!!!!!
I think i know the cause(s) of death to your iPod
    A) It not being turned off right after retrieving it (Caused by the hold swich)
    B) Plugging it in after words (the main problem)
When you plugged it in was probably the end of story due to the large amount of power entering the iPod although it seems you are a bit luckier than other i know who have done the same thing and after doing so not only didn't have an iPod but also didn't have a computer (Fried the main board)
Sorry to hear you lost your iPod, although there is a good reason to step up to an new 80GB!

My HDD crashed in my old PC and I built a new system.  iTunes won't let me sync the music from my iPod back into the new version of iTunes I had to download.  How do I fix?

Syncing music via iTunes is only one way: from iTunes to your iPod.  If you need to copy the music from your iPod back to your PC, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to do this.

    Hello jthompsonn25,
I'm sorry to hear about your iPhone and the issues you are having with Messages on your Mac. If you are trying to send iMessage messages in Messages, your iMessage account should be tied to your Apple ID (same account name and password). If you are having password issues in Messages, you may want to verify that you have the correct password by logging in to your Apple ID directly:
    Apple - My Apple ID
If you are unable to or are still getting an error message with your password, you may need to reset the password on your Apple ID. If that is the case, you may find the following article helpful:

You're seriously trying to use an electronic device that's been in contact with water????
You do know that since th beginning of time water and electricity don't mix, right?
Start being smart and top trying to use it NOW, and put it in a bag of rice for a week.

  • An SD card accidentally fell into the DVD slot. Any easy eay to retrieve it?

An SD card accidentally fell into the DVD slot of my imac. Is there an easy way to get it out ?

If you are extremely careful you may be able to use gravity to remove the SD card from the optical drive slot. Here's how I did it using two people, one to hold the iMac, and one to gently guide the SD card through the optical drive slot. Do so at your own risk. Take it in to a trained professional if you have any concerns about damaging the iMac.
    1) Carefully inspect the optical drive slot. Recessed inside the slot you will see a grey cloth looking 'cloth' cover over the slot. This cover is split down the middle to allow the disc to pass through. It helps keep dust out of the iMac. It it this cover that you will need to open in order for the SD card to be removed.
    2) Place a towel onto a table to protect the iMac's finish.
    3) Ask your helper to turn the iMac on its side resting on the towell for support. The iMac's optical drive slot should be hanging out over the edge of the table so that you can access it.
    4) Use a couple of business cards or a stack of 6 Post-It-Notes as a tool to slide into the slot to locate and remove the SD card.  IMPORTANT: DO NOT insert the paper tool more than 1/2 inch into the optical drive. The paper tools must not touch the optical pickup assembly.
Here are some other methods that people have used:
