My ipod flashes after going through the wash

My 3rd gen nano went through the wash last week and i let it sit in a bowl of rice for about 5 days till the water was gone in the screen. This morning i plugged it into my computer and it turned on and synced but the screen was white. About two mintues later it started to flash the screen would go from black to white and still does this when i turn it on. I tried factory resetting by holiding the menu and center button that did not fix it.
Any ideas what to do?

I think you are on the right track with the rice absorbing the H2o. After you drain the battery try the steps here:
Putting iPod into Disk Mode
Then restore your ipod in itunes if possible. This is what I would do.

My 14 year old son left his iPod nano (3rd Gen.) in his jeans pocket and it ended going through the washer and dryer. It now doesn't work. I think it's a definate goner, but he insists I find out whether it is fixable.

Most likely the battery is shot from that cycle. It MIGHT be fixable with a new battery, but it may not be worth it.

After more digging in the Support section here and some Google work, I turned off iTunes Match and lo and behold! I can change the media kind to Audiobook! So, it looks like iTunes Match locked the files up somehow and for some reason.
I went into iTunes Store > iTunes Match > "No, Thanks" to disable it on the local PC.

So, about a week ago my macbook pro started having lots of issues: wifi connectivity, slow performance, sound issues, spotlight wasn't working. After going through the issues with apple support, they decided the best course of action was to erase it...

So, about a week ago my macbook pro started having lots of issues: wifi connectivity, slow performance, sound issues, spotlight wasn't working. After going through the issues with apple support, they decided the best course of action was to erase the hard drive and do a reinstall. Since I have a recent backup this seemed like a good enough option. They were kind enough to send me a copy of the snow leopard disk to do the install since we couldn't get it to complete through the disk utility. Not sure why, since it says we are fully connected, it just never completed.
Anyway, so now that you have the background here is the new issue. The macbook pro keeps spitting out the disk I'm trying to install from. Disk utility and using the 'Startup Disk' function from the apple menu doesn't read the disk.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this vexing problem?

Doublechecking before proceeding. Is it saying the older version of Apple Software Update cannot be removed, or some other program? (Several different program names can be mentioned in this context.)

Rice is a weak drying agent. You can buy stronger desiccant's that will do a better job of drying out the iPod. But please use caution, these desiccant's can be poisonous, so use caution.
Considering the very high value of an iPod classic I would make every attempt to repair it. One example is shown below, but there are many types available.

When electronics get emersed in liquid, it's not the actual water that causes them to break (although if you spilled something like coke with a bunch of sugar, the sugar would stay in the device even after the liquid of the coke dissolved). What breaks the device is if either it was on when it was emersed in water, or if you turn it on before all the water can evaporate. If so, the water will conduct the electricity between the wires and short circuit the device. If you weren't thick enough to try and turn your device on immediately after you took it out of the washing machine, then it should be fine if you just let the water evaporate. Another technique (to make the water evaporate faster and, on rare occassions, to save a device if you've turned if on while there was still water in it) is to put the device in rice and let it sit overnight. I accidently put my old 2nd generation Ipod nano through the washer a few years ago. Well after that it would no longer work do to water damage. After a while i got a new Ipod (the same type) and was able to get new songs to put on it and what not. Well i was playing around with the one i washed opne day and found that i could still restore it on iTunes. However, it wont let me restore it without losing all of my music and what not that i got for the new one. I would like to continue to use the old one, but I am afraid of losing all of my current stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can restore the old and keep the new? I am in desperate need.

Well, two thoughts.
The battery has completely discharged and will take overnight to recharge, so don't expect much in an hour.
The battery has deep discharged and is now dead. It will never recharge and should be replaced.

Ipod crashes after going through airport x ray security

Every time after my 3rd generation ipod classic goes through the airport security x ray unit, and then I subsequently connect it to my Mini, the ipod crashes and I have to reset my ipod. Does anyone know why?

You would have to turn the iPad On. Don't believe it would hurt the iPad. The only problem might be that you would be setting the exposure in the lighted area & the Xray machine is probably dark inside.
But I would ask one of the TSA persons first. They might not allow it. They might not like the blinking red light.

Put rice and your iPod in a zipline bag (no air). Change the rice daily. Leave it there for about a week. Try opening your iPod. If it doesn't work, take it in for replacement.

After going through the process for an upgrade, we completely lost Mozilla. We get a message saying that we don't have permissions. How can I get the previous version back on my computer?
