My ipod has a weirddd problem

My Ipod Mini says that it has 2.08 GBs used, but I have no songs on it. I've tried restarting it, uninstalling and reinstalling it, and nothing works. Whats going on here?

HELP! My iPod has some major problems and the warranty just ended!

My 20 GB iPod is about a year old since I got it for Christmas last year. I have never had any problems with it. Now about a week ago it went completely haywire.
It started when I went to play some songs. They would play for a few seconds and then it would freeze. It then got to the point where the songs would remain on 0 seconds, not playing. I tried doing the reset thing suggested on Support, but it just made things a whole lot worse.
Now, whenever the iPod turns on the Apple logo appears and then it goes straight to the folder with an exclaimation point. The hard drive also makes strange noises like it is booting up and then it makes strange clinking noises. Trying everything, I decided that I would hook it up to my pc and do a restore. Well, the Do Not Disconnect screen appeared on my iPod but nothing happened on my pc. It wouldn't recognize the iPod.
I was just wondering what could have possibly happened since it has worked fine for a year. The only things I could think are the new iPod update (11-17) that I decided to use about two or three weeks ago. Maybe the cold temperatures had something to do with it? Maybe I just need a new battery?
Should I take the iPod to my local Apple store? I don't know if it would be worth getting it repaired at a cost of over $250.

Corey, I just had the exact thing happen to me today. I've spent hours toying with it by following all of the recommendations on the support site - no progress.
I didn't do the software update prior to the problem occurring, so I'll bet that has nothing to do with it.
Do you have any other ipods running off of the same PC? My wife recently installed her nano on this same PC.
It did dawn on me that the problem started on Jan 1, but it might just be coincidence - I'm like you - I'll take any clues.
I get one break, though. Mine was purchased 10 months ago.

Ipod has unknown reboot problem

i don't know what the technical name for it is, but my ipod keeps rebooting itself. I have let the battery die, and if i charge it all it does is start rebooting itself again. it turns itself on, the apple logo and the backlight come up, and then it turns itself off, repeating the process infinitely until out of power.
ive tried everything. i can't plug it into my computer, my computer won't recognize that it's even plugged in because of it's constant off/on problem.
can anyone help? has this problem ever been experienced?

This exact thing happened to me. I just let it sit out for a while (if it is out of battery then let it charge.) It went through its nonsense of starting and repeating and eventually it went to the main menu. (Give it some time if it needs, it will get past it eventually.) After it finally went to the main menu and I was able to hook it to my computer then I restored it in iTunes and no problems since!

I have had the same problem, so many apps do not work properly without it! Apple says the internet satellite, the Internet satellite says Apple, back and forth with the blame instead of fixing the problem. Have turned location on and off, reset everything multiple times ( lots of hours and bandwidth to download ), Siri is now working part time, I guess she has cut back her hours for the summer. Even in these forums was suggested to check with Skyhook who does the global positioning, and after hours with them, they ended up saying that they have nothing to do with it anymore, Apple does. All to no avail and much frustration! I wonder if this is happening with the iPhone's? i'd like to know if this is happening with others that do not use satellite as their ISP? That would help narrow down the argument with Apple vs. satellite. Fell for you! Someone please help us! Ta

well yesterday i just took my ipod out of my i home and tryed to play music on my ipod and it just shut off and wouldnt turn back on then that night i plugged it back in my ipod and it worked in the i home. Now this morning i tryed to play music again and it failed once a gain. so no im on the computer trying to restore my ipod and my ipod is now in the restarting phase and it just keeps turning on and off and wont load up. it attempts to start then it just shuts off. and its been doing it for a while now. pleasse help!

If they say the warranty is voided, it's usually better to purchase a new iPod. It costs the same, and your replacement has a new 1 year warranty on it, rather than a 90 day hardware coverage period. But I think you'll have a better chance at the Apple store than you would if you sent it in to their warehouse.
But, if they won't fix it, you can always look into third party repair companies.

Hello since i got the new itunes update 2012,my ipod has been having problems,didnt have these before the update

i have a 120 gig ipod classic,i noticed i was having problems,with itunes taking longer to sync,after spending almost 2 hours up loading all my movies music,to my ipod,then after all was done i would get an error 69 message,in the middle of the sync,then all my music would be on there some movies,music worked fine,most movies didnt except for a few,that happened once,most times after syncing there was no music movies, on the ipod,,then i would reconnect to itunes,tried to restore my ipod was taking forever,then when i clicked restore,would take longer,very annoyed,think its the new itunes causing problems for me,hoping i wont have to purchas up dates,done that before,paid 450 3 years ago for the ipod,paid for lots of music,movies,its not very old,but to apple the thing is probebly considered ancient,any help would be cool,

Read this Apple Support Article on handling error 69 it may be a bad corrupted file.
Or worst case the iPod Hardisk need to be check, as you are saying that it is taking longer than usual.
Do the iPod Disk Diagnostic as posted earlier by tt2, it wont fix your problem but helps in troubleshooting.

My 4th Gen. iPod has a HUGE problem

i have the iPod with the scroll wheel... (or maybe its called the click wheel) anyways i bought it back in Dec. of 2004... so NOW it wont scroll... i can go through the top of every menu... but i cant scroll down to...for ex. go to a different artist... so idk what to do... i have restored the iPod to factory settings... i have reset it... ive run out of options... i think its just being weird... idk... does anyone have any suggestions? let me know!

It could also be a moisture issue. If it's been either very cold or very humid lately, you may have condensation inside you iPod. This means the touch wheel will be affected. Just let it dry if this is the case...

I have a ipod touch 4 generation 32 gigs running on 6.1.3 and it lags really bad and a lot of my apps for some reason quit when opened up even though they are up dated my iPod has had this problem for a while it was jailbroken at one but time not any more

IPod 80gb error (-48) problem.

Hi, my sons iPod has developed a problem. It is being recognised by the computer as a drive, but not in ITunes, as the error -48 message keeps stopping the restore which we are trying to do.
We have downoaded the latest software, have the latest windows updates etc, also we have deleted the old itunes before downloading the new one, we have cleared the cache etc, but still we keep getting the error -48 message.
Does anyone have any ideas on what is the problem?, could my son may have accidentally deleted something off the iPod?. I hope someone can help, as he cannot get any of his music onto the thing, and i promised him i would have it working when he came back from a holiday in Lourdes. At the moment there seems to be no permanent fix for this. This is the workaround I'm currently using until a fix comes along.
Set up iTunes "not" to open when you connect the iPod.
Enable Disk Use on the iPod
Eject the iPod and shut down iTunes
Reconnect the iPod and open Disk Utility
Click on your iPod in the Utility pane and choose Repair Disk which will find and fix a number of errors.
Close Disk Utility and open iTunes and your iPod should connect and update as usual.
Keep the settings above and each time you connect the iPod run Disk Utility repair as above before opening iTunes. It's far from being a acceptable answer but until a permanent one comes along I've found that it works for me. I've tried the Apple advice of erasing the iPod in Disk Utility and restoring it in iTunes but found it only worked for a while before the error came back.

My Ipod has died a death...

...when i go to turn it on now, it either shows the sad face or the exclamation mark. It has done this before and was fixed by restoring the ipod. However, now, when i plug it into the computer (i have tried two different USB cables) it will not start up, and shows the battery symbol frozen for a while before returning to the sad face and then back to the battry.
Any ideas what to do apart from throw it in the bin and buy a different mp3 player?

For Window computer

Have I tried these myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Have I tried these myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Therefore, I agree with suggestion to have it fixed by a Pro.

I have a Ipod mini and I bought it in july of 2005. I have been told that the battery dies after two years.
Im starting to believe that.

A. Try to connect your iPod with another computer with the iPod updater pre-installed.
B. Still can’t see your iPod, put it in Disk Mode and connect with a computer, instead of doing a Restore on iPod Updater. Go and format the iPod instead.
For Mac computer
1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
For Window computer
Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
Now select “Format”

I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. For Mac, you can use the Disk Utility (on the Tiger OS system disk), for PC user, you can use the window OS system disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Then eject your iPod and do a Reset to switch out from Disk Mode. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.
If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired.

I sent my iPod Touch for repair, but it still has the same problems as when I sent it off. Help?

It started when my ipod suddenly stopped playing music. After I contacted support and tried just about every way to get my ipod fixed, I was eventually set up to have it shipped to apple for repairs. After two days, my ipod has returned with papers saying that the technicians at apple were unable to find anything wrong with it. The only problem is that it is still behaving the same way as it was before I sent it off, even though nothing was found to be wrong. My music still does not play and my apps will not sync. I decided to give a restore in recovery mode another shot, just to see if it would work, but the restore still only goes so far before the bar completely stops moving. Now, my ipod won't restore or come out of recovery mode, and I'm getting desperate. I thought having it sent off would fix all my problems, but nothing has changed. Please, can anyone help me? I don't know what to do anymore...
