My ipod has been jailbroken, i updated to ios6 left my screen blinking, wont turn on and no warranty. What can i do?

My ipod has been jailbroken 4g, i have updated to ios6 and it won't turn on and keeps blinki, no warranty. What should i do?

This forum does not provide assistance to jailbreak.
We can say "restore", but all other assistance must come through the jailbreak source, if they will even respond.
Also, your warranty is now void and you will need to replace it at full cost because "out of warranty" replacements are not provided.

I am currently learning how to do diagnostics on mac hardware but I am not a native mac user. It is unlikely that this is a software issue. Please, any input will be helpful.

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).

  • My iPod has been connecting to the Wifi connection at home oddly. It ran on and off, so I decided to restore it and see if it would fix. Instead, it stopped working altogether. It shows the bars when I find my connection, but never connects. Help?

A message pops up saying no connection was found when boot up any internet-based app. It shows the bars and everything. We have laptops and iPhones at home as well, and they're running the web fine. (Well, one laptop is perfectly fine; the others are not, but that's to be figured out.)
    I have tried:
    *rebooting the iPod
*restoring it (I've done it twice; once using a backup of the previous backup, and the other completely new)
*turning the wifi on and off
    *doing the "forget this network"
    *clearing history/everything then rebooting
I've pretty much done all I can. I have an appointment in two days, but I'm trying to find an answer. My iPod is no longer in warrenty (it's merely of how long I've had it, I never jailbroke) and I believe it costs to get a new one. I don't have the money to purchase a replacement, and I'm sure my parents wouldn't be pleased. My iPod is about a year and a half old. I used it very frequently, and would charge it every night. I used the Wifi all the time.
At a recent Apple visit, the associate told me my iPod had a corrupted software and to restore. I did restore, but mentioned above: I did it when my Wifi was being odd and then backed up to a previous saved backup of the iPod. The next night, I completely restored it and made a new "iPod profile" thing instead of going for a backup file.
    Any ideas?

If i understand what you are saying then you are seeing the WiFi indicator after connecting but Apps are saying that they are not connected to the internet?
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be to restart your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • I restored my ipod a touch and lost everything but I don't know if it's backed up on a computer because I've been using my brothers mac. I lost quite a few music purchases and apps. What can I do?

I have a majority of my music backed on another laptop that i can access, and I had downloaded some music from my brothers itunes library that I can get back. As well as apps, I know i can re-download those for free.  It's just the music i downloaded that I'm worried about because I don't know if I can get that back.  Please help!

ranmat11, you can only download apps and iBooks at no additional cost.  For music and videos you only get one download and it is up to you to back it up.  You will be charged again if you redownload music and videos.

  • I tried to restore my ipod touch and the screen turned white....it wont turn off either...what can i do to fix it??

It isnt working...it is a 4th generation and all it has is ablank screen..plz help!!!!

    Hi hellomynameisbrooke,
Try rebooting the iPod by pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously until the screen goes blank and you see the apple logo. It should take about 10-15 seconds to reboot.
If that doesn't work, connect it to your computer and try restoring it via iTunes.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers,

  • I have a ipod touch 1st generation and it started to not to respond in some parts of the screen. Its kind off old it randomly turns off and on. What can i do? is there a way for apple to help me?

I need help some one please help me

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.
If these fail, it is likely a hardware problem.  You can call Apple to see about repair or look it up online:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/

  • HT4972 I did a factory restore on my ipod touch now it wont do anything. When I plug it in I get the apple symbol and the loading circle but it freezes. It wont turn off at all. What can I do?

It also does not seem to be charging much after all this.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Long story but my iphone 4g has been returned to me via e bay with an apparent unrestore fault of 1015. I think it has been jailbroken etc.,Any suggestions, PLEASE. Maggie

    Hello
Long story BUT had my iphone 4g returned to me via Ebay with an apparently unrestoreable error 1015.  I think it has been jailbroken etc., hence it's return. I tried to tell ebay and paypal about this but they were not interested. I rather think they will have to face this problem again and again as it becomes more frequent from bad buyers.
Anyway, is there anything out there yet which will restore it's hardware?
    Many thanks
    Maggie

I understand your frustration, but disagree. It's really not Apple's problem. If you buy a car and install a turbocharger on it that causes damage to the engine, the manufacturer won't honor any warranty or help you with your problems. A mechanic will be more than happy to take your money to try and fix it, but it's not the manufacturer's problem. The manufacturer will be happy to sell you another car.
If you attempt to jailbreak or hack the phone yourself, you have no one but yourself to blame. If you hand your phone over to an untrusted party and they do something to it, again, the problem is yours, not Apple's.
I assume the "resale value" you quoted is a subsidized price from BT. It does NOT reflect the cost of the phone.
In the U.S. a subsidized iPhone through AT&T or Verizon is $199 (16GB) or $299 (32GB). An out of warranty replacement is $199 regardless of capacity. Full retail (unsubsidized) price is $649 (16GB) or $749 (32GB).  I'd say the price you were quoted to replace your phone was quite reasonable.

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
