My iPod has been wiped clean....

I updated my iPod (original) this morning to the 3.1 and iTunes to 6 and now my iPod is unreadable and there is no music on it....?! It appears on my desktop but iTunes says it cannot read it and I need to restore it. Can this be for real? I've updated before and didn't have this problem...HELP!!!

Then I'm sorry. If your iPad is wiped clean and you have no backup, there is nothing to help you.......Of course you can redownload your apps, even paid for ones, as long you use the same Apple ID you purchased them with. As for pics, music, etc., you can sync them back to your iPad via iTunes and your computer. You can set up your mailboxes again, but there's no magic bullet to get your iPad back easily. Let this be a lesson and once you've got your iPad set up again, BACK IT UP.

Installing OS X on a B & W G3 which has been wiped clean

I have a blue and white (gray) G3 tower which has been wiped clean. I have been able to install OS 9.2.2 however in trying to upgrade to OS X I cannot get anywhere. The screen is black with code all over the screen. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

There is a firmware update applicable to B&W G3 models, and it is strongly recommended that be installed prior to installing OSX. It can be installed while the machine is booted to OS 9 on its hard drive.

It's a good idea to print out the readme that accompanies the updater.
Note - if you are not sure whether that firmware update has been installed, it is okay to run the update installer - if the firmware has already been updated, the updater's installer will state that and refuse to run further.

How do I move my iPod files to my original PC that has been wiped clean?

The pc that has always been my primary iTunes computer has been wiped out and restored. When I plug in my iPod with all my music and stuff on it, iTunes does not recognize my computer. How do I export my stuff from my iPod onto my pc? I have maxed out my authorized computers.

IPod is 80GB and has 4687 songs using 25.1GB used. I dont want to lose all my files and have to start over.

There are several tools available for moving the library on your iPod to iTunes.
Google for CopyPod or Yamipod.

IPod has been wiped, and iTunes refuses to sync?

When I plugged in my iPod today, an error came up which said 'Some of the items in the iTunes library, including "Six Feet Under The Stars (Acoustic)", were not copied to the iPod "nico" because they cannot be played on this iPod'.
After checking, my iPod has nothing on it at all- all my music has been completely wiped off of it, yet it's still all there in my iTunes library. I tried to sync it again but the same error comes up, even when I tried to manually sync it. I've made sure that 'Sync Music' and 'Entire music library' is checked in the Music tab several times yet nothing is working.
I have an iPod nano, generation 5, 8gb if that's useful information. This has never happened before and I have looked around for help regarding this situation but I can't find anything. Please help?

I would suggest you try syncing to the iPod but do not include that particular song. ie Right Mouse click on it and Select uncheck selection. If it then syncs as normal you will know that thereis somethong wrong with that track.
Where did it come from - CD try and reimport it. Itunes store try and redownload it it may be a corrupted file

I can not find my serial number to upload my illustrator since my computer has been wiped clean

I am a new office worker and the person before me had Adobe Illustrator and had saved some documents using that. They wiped my computer clean and I when I tried to load the program I realized I do not or can't find the serial numbers. I still have the sleeve the disc was in but there is nothing on that. The box has a series of letters and numbers but the letters won't enter into the screen asking for the serial number.

if the program was registered with adobe and you know the account used, you can check on adobe.com, https://www.adobe.com/account.html
otherwise, you will need to contact someone that knows where to retrieve that serial number.

My inbox has been wiped clean on iCloud!?! What happened?

I would appreciate help on this one as I am seriously concerned.
I migrated from @mac (mobileme) to iCloud a couple days ago. My iMac and MBPro. Mail migrated fine - set up just one account and all mail was moving nicely. Then this evening I decided to start responding to several important emails sitting in my inbox. Clicked on the inbox and discovered to my horror that it was completely empty. That was on my laptop. So I went to my iMac and took a look. It had been idle so I could see that there was a substantial number of emails sitting in the inbox but when I clicked on the mail application to activate it - it "updated" and everything disappeared.
Logged onto my iCloud account on-line and after some frustrating delay - managed to get in and found that everything was completely gone from my inbox. So clearly the synching is working great BUT what happened to my emails?!?
Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do? At this point I am considering sending all my email via google if I can't trust the apple servers.
Advice anyone?

Help! My iPod has been wiped. Any ideas?!

When I plugged my iPod in to update today it wiped all my music, and now I'm unable to load the tracks back on!
When plugeed in the iPod says 'Do not disconnect' as usual, but when it has finished loading the tracks onto the iPod it says 'The iPod 'Fee's iPod could not be updated. The required file cannot be found' and the files aren't loaded onto my iPod.
Am very rubbish with computers so any help would be greatly appreciated, someone tell me what I'm doing wrong!

Basically the same thing happened to me yesterday. I had over 2,200 songs on my 60GB video iPod and they're now completely gone. I did try the "banging on the desk" technique but it doesn't seem to have helped and this isn't a fix I'd like to pursue any further.
When I go to update my iPod now it appears to update normally but nothing -- no songs -- appear on it after updating. And when I try to sync it to my hard drive, I get the following error message:
"The iPod "Davers iPod" cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred (-50)."
Is hitting "Restore" really my best option?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.

OMG!!! I lost all my data on my external and my internal drive has been wiped clean! Please help

I bought a very good condition, used macbook pro 4.1. While attempting to transfer files from one of my external drives, some how I erased both the external drive and the internal drive. You can also go to http://www.everymac.com and click on iBook and if you have more information on the year, etc, of the iBook you can find out what operations system it came with. Then see if you can find the appropriate operating system for sale at eBay or similar. If you do that, make sure you get a retail version and not a version with grey disks...those are machine-specific and probably will not work in your iBook.

Ipod classic has been wiped. cannot see it on the 'device list' in my itunes. I have tried restoring to factory settings and reloading...it reloads some of the music, but when I plug the Ipod back in, it wipes it again.

Make sure your headphones are plugged in all the way, meaning you cannot see any of the silver still showing from the headphone's plug.
A feature of the Nano is to put it to sleep when the display goes out and it does not detect any headphones.
