    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPodin recovery mode use this prgram.
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My ipod classic just froze on me and will not even reset.  All I'm getting on the display is a read circle with a red x in the middle.  HELP!!!!!!!!!!

If you are unable to get the iPod into Disk Mode to restore it and instead get the red X symbol, it's a very good indication of a damaged hard drive inside of your iPod. This means you'll need to take or send your iPod in for repair or replacement.

  • IPod Nano just froze for apparently no reason

I have never once had a problem with my iPod Nano. I've never dropped it, scratched it or done any damage to it what so ever. (I've had it for about 3 months now)
Just a few minutes ago I was listening to some songs on it. I hit the pause button and sifted through songs until I found what I wanted to listen to. I hit the pause button again to play the song and nothing happened. So I tried a different song and as I was sifting through to that song I noticed that the images that usually show the album artwork weren't showing up, just empty boxes. Then finally all the buttons stopped working.
I tried holding down the menu and select buttons but that didn't work.
I plugged it into my computer but iTunes didn't recognize it. I clicked on "My Computer" to see if it recognized it and I couldn't even get My Computer to open. It also froze. So then I unplugged my iPod Nano and My Computer opened up easily. So even though neither my iTunes software nor my My Computer actually show recognition on the screen, it seems to effect my computer when I plug the iPod Nano in.
I can't make any sense out of it. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks!
    Jessica
iPod Nano 2GB   Windows XP   Only 86 songs loaded so I don't think it's overloaded.

I am having a similar problem. Twice now the screen has frozen - I can't scroll, or even turn it off. It does not dim. Once the battery wears down then I can plug it in and it will work again. Any ideas?

  • My ipod classic just froze, please help!

My ipod classic was working perfectly up until about 10 minutes ago, when it froze up and now it won't let me do ANYTHING. My computer doesn't even recognize that I've plugged it in! I'm so lost, please help me!
So my ordeal is over, thank the stars. To anyone who's having the same issue I just had, here's what you do:
       1. Switch the hold/lock button on the top lefthand corner of your ipod on and then back off
       2. Press and hold the center and menu buttons down simultaneously until the Apple logo appears
       3. Your ipod should shut off and restart after this, and work as fine as it did before

I am having a similar problem at the moment. My ipod is a 20g and fairly new. It has been skipping through all of the songs as though they can't be played. I have soft reset it on numerous occasions and most of the time it has worked. But now I have reset it through itunes for about the fifth time and it won't work. All I have on screen now is the apple symbol and I can't get anywhere. I have updated itunes and reset my ipod after removing all of the music. It seems to be corrupted somehow. Is there any software I can use to wipe it or possibly defrag it other than what is available through itunes?
My computer can recognise the ipod but itunes won't.

  • Ipod has just crashed

I have just bought a brand new ipod mini. when I plug into windows computer I restore it. when it has finished restoring it says waiting for final process. I then looked at ipod and all that was on there was the apple logo. the final process bit was still there. so I disconnected ipod and still the apple logo is still there. i then tried charging it but no luck. i have the latest ipod software. does anyone know how to sort this probelm. Please i really need helP!!!!
    Thanks.

    zain,
It sounds to me like you disconnected the iPod before the restore process was completed.
Make sure you do the reset process correctly. Try several times connected to power.
If this doesn't help, you may have to restore the iPod again. Run the updater program, connect the iPod when prompted, not before, then choose restore.
If it gets stuck again, try clicking on the x in the top corner which should take you to the next stage in the restore process.

  • My iPod has just stopped working for no apparent reason?

I used it this morning for twenty minutes when I went out for a run. It may have gotten slightly sweaty (bleghh, sorry) but I don't think it was a factor in this! I listened to it for another ten minutes or so after the run, too, so it was still working then. But about half an hour later, I tried to listen to some songs again and it just didn't react at all. The screen was completely blank. Resetting it didn't work; plugging it into the mains did nothing but cause the Apple symbol to appear, disappear, and continue to do so, flashing on and off. Plugging it into the laptop, then pressing reset made the Apple symbol appear again, but then it vanished and the screen just kept flashing - it's quite dim so it's difficult to tell, but I think it's trying to show the Apple symbol but is crashing before all the bars can build up into a clear image. It's infuriating, because I only bought this iPod a couple of months ago, and I could have sworn I saved the warranty but now I can't find it
I would really, really appreciate any help you can give, I hate not being able to listen to music!

  • My ipod touch just froze and wont come back to life...

Sometimes it freezes during the use of an app, but then i just hold the button on the top left and it goes to the black screen, then the apple icon appears and then its all good. But now it's just black and no matter what I do, it won't change from the black screen. It connects to iTunes, and it charges because you hear that click that happens when it starts to charge but the black screen continues to appear. It's glowing, so it's not dead. What can I do? Should I go to an Apple Store, have them look at it. Should I restore it, and if I do, will it keep all my songs in iTunes?

try holding down both the home button and the hold button. if that doesn't help try to restore the ipod touch. as long as your songs and everything are in the itunes library your songs should be fine.

  • Ipod classic just froze

    battery is 1/4 full
i plugged in the usb, and removed the usb about 5 seconds later.
the ipod is frozen at the last playback stage it was at before i turned it off last
none of the buttons are responding, the lock button doesnt do anything, if i stick it up to my ear a very quite whirring sound is coming from it
plugging in the usb gives me the windows usb-detected sound, but itunes doesnt see it, and my computer doesn't see it as a disk drive
    'elp ??????

didn't realise removing headphones did anything, I'll bear that in mind next time.
overnight I let it discharge with the screen on. In the morning is displayed 'please charge'
it charged for about 1 minute, then came up 'ok to disconnect' straight away, and wouldn't charge any more.
but i could now get at the menu.
    I usually have
    playlist, album, extras, settings
    from my main menu.
it had lost my "playlist" entry. so i re enabled that from the settings.
all my music and playlists etc are still there. then i reset factory settings just for good luck.
At this point i have a barely charged ipod which seems alive, but doesn't want to charge any more.
for good luck i put the hold button to "on".
all of a sudden it started charging, and right now i seem to be back with an apparently healthy ipod, which is charging thro the usb as normal.
itunes and windows explorer does not seem to see the device right now, i'll worry about that once i have a charged ipod.
I didnt know about the two button combo and lock - will for next time
