Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPhone 3gs just randomly turned off and won't turn back on

I was just using my phone, and nothing happened. As of lately picture mail, and videos have been sending as a text message to other iPhone users even while connected to wifi. My phone just randomly turned off and won't turn back on. I just got it in July so its not very old and I have the hard protection case on it. Is there any way that I can reset it or something?

Hold the home and power button down at the same time.

  • My ipad has completley frozen, I restored it, but still nothing, any idea what the problem could be ?

My ipad has completley frozen, I've restored it, but still nothing, any ideas ?

I think that maybe Gail is thinking about using a computer since there is no mouse to use with an iPad
What you describe is pretty typical of system sounds being muted, with the exception of the fact that you still have sound in FB videos, but take a look at this anyway. System sounds and screen lock use the same pair of settings. When one uses the side switch, the other is controlled with a software switch.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you are running iOS 5 or iOS 6, the system sound control is in the task bar at the bottom. Double tap the home button and swipe all the way to the right in the task bar to get to the speaker icon on the left side. Tap on that and the sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • IMac just stops, turns off like the plug was pulled.

My iMac is a 17in G5, running 10.3.9, with 2MB of aftermarket RAM installed (by me over a year ago) and lately, it just turns off. It doesn't freeze, and it doesn't warn me. It just turns off like the plug was pulled. When I try to start it back up, no problem. Boots back up like normal....though if you look closely, a little "?" appears ever so quickly in the folder in the middle of the screen before I see the Mac happy face.
I bought it new new 3.5 years ago (no more apple care) and it has lived a pretty easy life, until my little one started walking and climbing. Since then, my little guy has turned the power strip off probably 20 or 30 times, thus killing power to the computer without shutting it down properly. Also, I am encountering a seeminly unrelated problem with my disc drive. It no longer runs or burns DVDs. CDs, no problem. DVDs, no comprendo.
    Things I have tried.
I bought an external DVD drive. One problem fixed. For the random shut donw problem, the only thing I could think to do was to unplug everything, wait 15 minutes, and then plug everything back in. That made no difference.
Anybody have a suggestion? Is my computer nearing the end of its life? So soon? Right after apple care expired? Oh no!
    thanks for any help,
    Adam

  • Iphone 4s won't turn on. broken lock button. It just randomly turned off and won't turn back on. Can't go to apple store because going on vacation. Please help

iPhone 4ws won't turn on. I have a broken lock button. It just randmoly turned off and won't turn on. I can't go to the apple store because I'm going on vacation. Someone please help

Your phone is broken; there's no magic solution for you.  You can try plugging it in to wall power and see if this turns the phone on, but if it doesn't, you can either go on vacation without your iPhone, or make the time to visit the Apple store before you leave.

  • Macbook just randomly turns off

i had at least 50% of battery left and working in photoshop and the computer will just turn off- no power down, no warning, etc... i can have 70%+ and it will do this. it just turns off and i press the power button and it starts up and i plug it in to avoid this. and of course, all my work is gone unless it was saved prior to...
    any ideas on this problem?

It sounds like it could be overheating..
Make sure that your fans are working(air is coming from the vent), the vent is not obstructed, the vent is clean.
I use SMC fan control and will occasionally boost the fan speed if I feel like the computer is heating up and the fan isn't responding fast enough.

  • One day old iPOD 30g Video randomly turns off

Title says it all...tried all of the Rs, even restored it. Plays fine for a little while, then BAM....turns off, just after a small pop is heard subtly in the headphones (I assume it is the amp shutting off.) Then you can hear the hard drive powering down. Sometimes I restart it and it works fine for a little while, other times it turns off just as I go to navigate the menus. Anyone else have this problem?

Yeah...got everything....tried the Best Buy route and apparently Apples restrictions for returns are quite rigorous and without a receipt, I am screwed.
I won it from Georgia Pacific at a Builder's conference. I am going to try and contact them from the number that is one the shipping label, but I do not have high hopes for that. After that, if apple requires some kind of receipt, I am completely screwed. According to Best Buy, without a receipt, Apple charges $250 to service the thing...might as well buy another at that rate, and at that point....eh no..I stick with my Hi-MD

If those solutions don't work your iPhone 4s has developed a hardware problem. The permanent solution is to get it replaced.
You can search the internet for heating and freezing solutions that might work (at least for a while).
    For example, see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj10bz5bI6A
Root cause: On some iPhone 4s devices there may be a flow soldering problem with the WiFi chip. After long periods of WiFi activity such as installing an iOS update (for example, iOS 7 or iOS 8) there may be a connection failure. A work-around to this is the procedure in the youTube video.
A true hardware fix may be found here:

No on the refurbished issue. You purchased a new iPhone, if you return it, it should be new.

    - I would start with

    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

  • 5s Phone randomly turning off

My phone is randomly turning off for the past month. I have already taken it to an apple store who had a look and performed a battery drain and assured me the battery was fine. I do NOT see how.
It is turning off at different points, it has turned off at around 34% and it has just then turned off at 72%.
I cannot turn my phone back on without plugging it into a charger.. This is very difficult especially for work alarms and such.
When i turn my phone back on, the battery percentage can sometimes say either 0-10% however just now it still says 72%.
This is happening multiple times a day now and is causing a huge problem.
I have heard of Iphone battery calibrations but apparently this can no longer happen on the 5's.
    Can anybody help!?!?

The support is strong with this one.
