Apple asks for my serial number to help with support for my ipod. Except I cannot get my serial number, because I cannot locate my ipod.

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod. If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number). If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief. All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself. This requires action before the device is lost/stolen. If the device has significant personal information, it should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

I can't use Find My iPhone clearly because there was no internet connected, I'm back in the states now, I was just hoping since the serial number is unique that I could report it and if it pops up anywhere that I could possibly get my phone back. The serial number is indeed unique. But neither Apple nor any other agency (except possibly your local law enforcement) tracks these.

If you still have the receipt or other proof of purchase, you can ask Apple to send you the serial. Otherwise, bad luck mate.. Good news is, you can now buy Logic Pro 9 from App Store for just 199 USD

I have used the trial version of Dreamweaver and Photoshop; Both have then expired. When I try to purchase an yearly suscribption, during the process, there is step 3 which ask le to enter the serial number, but I do not have access to these number anymore. What should I do?

No, you can't update your 2G iPast past iOS 4.2.1. The graphics hardware on the 2G does not support the latest Open GLS.

Restoring the iPod will do nothing to his iPhone.
When you restore it wipes the iPod clean no matter what computer you use.
The only plus to doing it form your home computer is if you have a backup stored there, then you can restore from the backup once it's done wiping.
