You broke it, you will need to get it serviced or replaced. The drop voided your warranty so you would have to do an out-of-warranty replacement with Apple.

Try restoring the iPod to rule out a software problem. First restore from backup and then to factory defaults/new iPod.
Then an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod home button not working

    Hi
I have an iPod touch 4th generation and the home button isn't working. It's not the normal issue where it's stuck, or it won't function because you can't press it. The home button on my iPod is visible, as in the black button has been removed and I can see the tiny circular home button, (if you've ever seen the inside the iPod). When I press the tiny circular button, it doesn't work. Circuitry issues, maybe? If anyone could help, I'd be so grateful.

  • My home button wont work on my IPhone 4

    My home button wont work

Same here. Before going to the Apple store, I connected to my PC/iTunes. The home button was definitely not working before I connected. Immediately after I connected, as soon as the iPhone screen lit up, I tried the home button and it works again, even before syncing. So trying an iTunes connection as one solution.

  • Home button wont work

My home button stopped working.. I was wondering if there was anything I can do to make it work again? I basically have to turn my phone off and on to get to a certain page..

If there is a hardware problem or failure and it sounds like it, there is nothing you can do to make it work again except for getting the hardware repaired or the affected part replaced.

  • My ipod went black will not turn on and the home button wont work what do i do?

    i need help!!!!!

    Make sure it's charged.
    Try to Reset your device:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first).

  • HT201322 iPod home button not working

Hi my iPod touch 4 GEN home button is not working, I have tried everything it said to fix it like hold the top button to peer it off but then hold the home button for 10-15 sec until it goes back to the home screen which worked but right after that, when I go to a app, the home button will instantly stop working. What should I do? Get a the new iPod  5 or any ways to fix it.

I'd take it back - especially if you bought it recently.  Most of the time they're REALLY NICE about taking care of the products.
If they find that it's because of misuse though, you're on your own

  • IPod lock button wont work. any alternatives

So long story short. dropped it in water waited for two months, works fine now but the top button to lock it wont work.. any ideas?

Could be that there is corrosion of the contacts that is preventing making contact. This place does not specifically list that repair.

  • My iphone home button wont work - according to the Sale of Goods act I can expect this to last longer than the 1 year 83 days that I have had the phone, regardless of any guarentee

I have a 3Gs iPhone, which I've had for 1 year 83 days and the home button si faulty. I have checked on the internet and this seems to be a common issue.
I have a contract with O2 for 24 mouths due to run out March 2012 but the phone was bought from Carphone Warehouse.
I have been to O2 and they say it's out of the Apple warranty and therefore I will have to pay for a repair. They also have now said because it came from CPW they will do nothing for me.
I have been to Apple and they say the same thing that I have to pay for the repair as it's out of warranty
My query is surely I can expect a phone that has been looked after should last longer than 83 days? Therefore under the sale of good act I should get a repair or replacement for free???
I am now paying for a contract where the phone doesn't work!

Good luck with that. Most of the world does not have anything like what you believe your "sale of goods act" is supposed to do. It sounds like you expect it to extend the warranty on a Product from Apple until your contract with an entirely different company is complete.  I think you'll find that you are misinterpreting that law.  The exception may be if you purchased the phone from the carrier and the law is written in such a way as to require them to replace the device if it fails during the term of the contract, though I doubt that will be the case either.

  • My home button wont work on iphone 4 and it can not charge and shuts off at random times, what do i do?

For some time now my iphone shuts off randomly or does not charge but as i woke up this morning, my iphone did not charge the previous night and would not reconize any charger. continuosly trying, the home button suddenly stopped working! this is a nightmare whats wrong with my phone?!
P.S. I changed the color of my phone (the glass back) will apple still fix it for me?

Apple wouldn't replace it. Since you replaced your rear glass im assuming you know a little something on how to open the iPhone. Go ahead and order a new Charge port flex cable (it runs the home button as well) Unless the home button has damaged under the "dome" you wouldnt need to replace that cable unless you really have too.

  • HT1212 what if your ipod sleep button wont work?

  • Cant exit out of apps ; home button doesnt work , how do i fix it?

i cant exit out of anything , my home button wont work,

Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • HT1430 what if my home button doesnt work?

hi, my iphone4s wont turn on. I have tried plugging it in and still not even the battery sign will appear. My home button wont work so i cant do the hard reboot is there another way i can do it?

If you're using a case with the iPhone, try testing without it because it could be interfering with the buttons operation.
If that isn't it, try restoring the iPhone.
If a restore doesn't take care of it, the iPhone will need to be sent in for service.
