my ipod is broken in where you would put the usb cable into the ipod to charge it or to connect it to the laptop does anyone know if it can be fixed

I just bought an ipod touch 4th generation recently, found that it is very difficult to plug and unplug the USB cable from my ipod. Does anyone have this problem?
Some of the Dock connector cables have very small buttons on the rounded adge of the plug, which need to be pushed in to release the plug from the iPod. Look at the picture below, do you notice the "button" on the white connector edge? There's one on the other edge too and they both need to be pressed in to release the "evil looking spike" sticking out of the grey edge.
The shorter plugs (that I've seen) do not have the release mechanism, the plug simply pulls out. -

In the attempt of updating my ipod touch, i am faced with the problem of not being able to be connected to the itunes in my computer (windows xp ) because my ipod touch got blocked up, leaving the icon of USB cable and itunes on my touch screen. I am asked to restore my ipod first, but i have tried using all the examples stated and still can't help. Please please, can some one help me out ? Was the music purchased via your iTunes account and/or did you buy it from other sources or copy it from your own CDs, or did the music belong to the previous owner ? If the music was yours then you can sync it back to the iPod via your computer's iTunes. If the music is not still on your computer then have you got a backup of it ? If not then for iTunes purchases you might be able to re-download it depending on which country you are in. If the music was put on the iPod by the previous owner then you will need to buy your own copies of it.

Charge iPod with the USB cable
When I connect my iPod to a computer whithout iTunes installed, I get a new drive in windows. But on my iPod I get symbol in the display that says that I should not remove the cable before I disconnect the iPod in windows.
In this case the iPod charge until I disconnect the iPod in windows.
When I use iPod with my computer where iTunes is installed, I can press the Eject iPod button in iTunes and the iPod still get power from the USB cable, and the iPod still charge.
Is there any software so can do the same job as in the iTunes for eject iPod? Beacuse then I can charge the iPod with only the usb cable and still listen to the music.

Well the answer I gave you didn't solve the problem. Is the USB cable and the iTunes logo still on the iPod screen? You could start the "fixing process" by rebooting your computer, connect the iPod again, launch iTunes and see if anything happens.
