My iPod is Causing my PC to crash when I plug the iPod Touch in.
I've plugged my iPod Touch into my laptop (USB) port and it immediately caused my laptop to crash.
I allowed the PC to reboot and tried again in a different port with the same results.
Any suggestions as what may be the problem.
Never had a hint before that this might happen.
The iPod is only 2 months old.

Ok you mentioned three things:
1. Uninstalling the ACER camera.
2. latest version of iTunes and
3. Printer.
Regarding the uninstalling the camera - I haven't done that but worth a try. When I initially plug the iPod in it comes up as a camera (not as an iPod as it should do). I don't use the camera a lot so maybe thats the way to try and see what happens.
Regarding the latest version of iTunes - yes I've got that no problem and regarding the printer - seldom used and hasn't been used since well before this problem came about.
I'm getting more convinced that its a Microsoft Update that's causing it. I read somewhere about this but can't remember where now.
I had to again reload all the software because of other problems i.e. back to original recovery, so while loading the new software I tried the iPod touch and yes it worked. However, with all reloading of sofware there was the usual updating and after loading a number of these updates together I tried again and as expected the blue screen again.
Needless to say I'm rather frustrated at this outcome but won't give up as yet.
Thanks for your continued interest. Maybe between us we'll get it solved. It doesn't appear that others have this problem and Apple Support have never heard of it.

My 120GB IPod classic is not recognized by my Windows 7 PC. When I plug the ipod into my computer I receive a message saying that the USD device is not recognized. The Device Manager lists it as an Unknown Device. I've tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it, but it had no affect. Some of my songs are listed twice on my iPod itself. However, when I plug the iPod into my computer, the songs don't show up twice in iTunes when I click on device/music. How do I get rid of the duplicate songs on my iPod?
that is odd! that should not be happening.
Are you syncing your songs right off of itunes itself? because it should be syncing over to the ipod however it is listed in itunes. -
I have a ipod shuffle synced to a desktop (ver 9), I have a new laptop and downloaded itunes (ver 10.7). When i plug the ipod in the new laptop it wants to delete my songs. How do i use my new alptop and ipod together?
Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

Ipod classic has been wiped saying 'no music'etc.
Cannot see it on the 'device list' in my itunes. I have tried restoring to factory settings and reloading...it reloads some of the music, but when I plug the Ipod back in, it wipes it again. Ocassionally Itunes freezes when I plug in the Ipod.Make sure your headphones are plugged in all the way, meaning you cannot see any of the silver still showing from the headphone's plug.
A feature of the Nano is to put it to sleep when the display goes out and it does not detect any headphones.

When I plug the ipod into my computer it showes the normal "Do not disconnect" thing in the ipod... In windows it apears that I have connected a usb-device. But explorer, iTunes or iPod updater can find the device. Then I disconnect the iPod, but the ipod keep saying "do not disconnect". Try placing the iPodin recovery mode and then try to restore the iPod via iTunes on your computer. For recovery mode see:

Next would be to make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem. -
ITunes crashes when I plug my iPod in
iTunes 11 used to work fine, but now when I plug my iPod touch in to sync, iTunes stops responding, and I have to close it from Task Manager. Then when I open iTunes again, everything works fine until I plug my iPod in again a it crashes
Help?Do the iPod Disk diagnostic as posted by tt2, it wont fix your problem but help in troubleshooting, especially iPod Classic hardisk.

When I plug my iPod classic (only three months old) into iTunes, it doesn't show up as a device on iTunes. I plugged it in to update last nightm, but all my music was erased and now it isn't even recognized. The iPod itself shows it being connected, but nothing on iTunes. If you're worried about how to access the files:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File: a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. 3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. -

We need to get a crash log file to see where it's crashing. In order to get a crash log on Vista, you will need to enable crash logging.
Important: These steps involve making changes to the Windows registry using the Registry Editor (Regedit). ITunes crashes when I plug in IPod?
Hello! I've never had this problem before. Whenever I plug in my ipod to my ibook, iTunes will crash (i.e. "unexpected application quit" msg pops). My ipod will look like it's charging along w/ the msg "Do Not Disconnect" but it no longer shows "Ipod is Updating". If I don't plug in my ipod, itunes will work and none of my music has been deleted. So as of now - my ipod actually shows no music in it at all (all my photos and files that I store are still in it though). Please tell me how to fix this problem. Thank you in advance.
ibook Mac OS X (10.2.x)Try this:
Move the com.apple.iPod.plist file (in ~/Users/YourUsername/Library/Preferences) to the desktop and attach your iPod.
iTunes will have to create a new iPod preferences file, which could solve the problem.
