My ipod is cutting off my MP3s

Hello. My ipod was working just fine, but a couple of months ago, it started randomly cutting off some of my songs. It doesn't do it to all of them, so far, but a few of them have lost 30 seconds to a minute. They're fine in itunes, but not my ipod.

Hi all, I think I've figured out one solution to this problem. I have a 3rd Gen iPod and was having songs cut off. Random songs at random points near the end of the song. I've read a post here about deleting the artwork from the songs on the iPod, and it worked! Long story short: Use this script from www.dougscripts.com "removeallipodartwork" to delete all artwork from the iPod, not iTunes. iTunes is fine, only the iPod is having trouble with the little bits of artwork information. If you have any doubts, manually delete artwork from just a couple of songs, update your iPod and listen for the cut off (you can fast forward to near the end of the song). Believe me, I've tried everything else for the past 18 months or so. MP3, AAC, different quality, different iTunes versions, different iPod OS, restoring the iPod, I could go on. Hope this helps.

  • Some of the songs synced to my ipod are cut off, but are correct on itunes. How do I fix this?

Some of the songs synced to my ipod are cut off, but are correct on itunes. I've tried unchecking everything, syncing, rechecking everything, syncing. I also tried deleting everything under iPod_Control/iTunes and iPod_Control/Music then syncing.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

  • My ipod always cuts off the end of some of my songs when theyre clearly not done... Anyone having the same problem?

My ipod is a 2nd gen ipod touch and i will go to listen a song and my ipod will cut it off when the song isnt done, like right inn the middle of it and just change to the next song. So frustrating anyway to fix it?

mine was doing the same thing at first so I had to convert all my mp3's to ACC files using itunes. I read in the faq that itunes will sometimes not play a file properly if you did not use iTunes to encode it. it's a real pain in the *** but try to convert to ACC and it should solve the problem.

  • IPod abrubtly cuts off and only comes back on when you unlock the hold button. why and how can i fix this?

I listen to my iPod Classic at work and it kept cutting off today out of nowhere and this hasn't happened before. I have it in my pocket so I have the HOLD button in the lock position so the wheel won't get pressed while in my pocket. I figured it died on me but I had just charged it last night so I took it out and unlocked the HOLD button. Well, the music immediately came back on. It happened a few more times and i figured maybe it was the song or something so I changed albums and it kept happening. Every time it would cut off, I'd unlock the HOLD button and it'd come back on every time, almost like it was paused or something. Has anyone experienced this? if so, how do I fix it? I really don't want to buy a new iPod since I have little money because of school, bills, and photography/film equipment. Help? thanks.

I'm having a hard time finding an answer to this too.  This is what is going on.  Sometimes the iPod (iPod Classic 160GB) does not "like" the songs I've downloaded from cds.  Sometimes it does.  I think it always plays whatever songs I've purchased on iTunes though.  The other day I synced it to add two new cds and somehow the iPod was wiped clean--no songs, no pictures, nothing. I did a reset and the songs came back but now these problems:
    1. The song will play for a few seconds then it either skips to the next song.
    2. The song won't play, just skips to the next song.
    3. Everything just stops, the iPod is still 'on' but won't play anything.
    4. Right now it's playing an Aimee Mann album that I downloaded but it wouldn't play the Joni Mitchell album just before.  Is the iPod making a comment on my taste in music?
Flipping the lock back and forth helps sometimes, but not always.
I bought this device less than two years ago; I really hope it's not permanently messed up. Should I just go to the Apple Store (please I beg of you, don't make me!) and throw myself at their mercy?
Help!! My iPod is the only thing that gets me through the day in this office.

  • Ipod nano cutting off constantly

Hope you can help me. I have a brand new iPod nano that I use while I run. Today, I started out and the nano stopped no fewer than 4 times during a 8.5 mile run (72 minutes). The music stopped (mid song) and the screen was frozen. I had to stop and reset the nano each time. very frustrating! Ruined my run. It was cold as heck here in Boston and having to take off my gloves and reset this 4 times was a serious buzz kill. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong. Why is my nano seizing? Also, when I returned, I couldn't turn the dang thing off. Had to reset it in order to do so. What are your thought.

Try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists choose no and it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • Why does my ipod touch cut off audiobooks

When playing an Audiobook (m4b) my ipod touch stops playing the file, I can go to an earlier chapter, but not forward.

If the iPod plays fine after you start the car, then most likely its fine and normal. If it doesn't, try contacting your dealer.

  • Ipod cuts off digitally converted analog songs

I converted a number of my vinyl albums to digital files so I could put them on my ipod. In the conversion process, something happened so that when I play the songs on my ipod, they cut off before the end. This is curious because when I fast forward through the songs on my ipod, all of the songs are there. I suspect that something in the conversion process messed up the listed times for the songs.
Does anyone know of a way I can fix this?
    thanks

    They play correctly in itunes.
The mistake I made was converting the ripped wave files into mp3s. Somehow the way this conversion was done did something to alter the listed times for the songs. The whole song is there but the ipod cuts off at an earlier time.
If I could edit the files to change the listed time, I think I might be able to fool the ipod so that it plays the whole song.

  • Cut off text on iPod summary screen

Text on the summary screen for iPods is cut off. iPod description is cut at the bottom of the font text. Text in the options field doesn't show full description. It just ends in ... I can't even mouse over to get a full description and the iTunes help is horrible.
    Examples:
Open iTunes when this iPod is ...
    Prefer standard definitio...

Is your display resolution currently set to at least 1024x768, Jay, as per the following document?

  • My iPod Touch (iOS 6.1.3) keeps cutting off songs before they finish.

My iPod keeps cutting off songs before they finish. There doesn't seem to be a pattern - it only happens to some songs. It also doesn't cut them all off with the same amount of time remaining. The songs work perfectly when I play them back on iTunes on my laptop.
I've tried removing and reloading all the music as well as restoring my iPod to its factory settings.
Please help... it's driving me mad!!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Song on iPod cutting off after a few seconds

A particular song on my iPod keeps cutting off after just a few seconds. When I play the song in iTunes it plays just fine. I've tried deleting the song from my iPod and reloading it, but it still does the same thing. I have several hundred songs on my iPod and this is the only one I've had any trouble with ... please help!

Have you updated iTunes and iPod Updater??

  • Songs keep getting cut off

Most of the longer songs on my ipod get cut off at the end. I did the five 'R's and that didn't fix it. If I delete the song's and re-rip the cd on to the hard drive and sinc the ipod, that fixes the problem, but I have a ton of songs that are cutting off and don't want to have to re-rip all of my jazz cd's! I noticed that itunes will display the wrong time on a song if I jump to the end. It will count down to zero before the song has ended, but unlike the ipod, it plays the song after the time has displayed zero.
    Please help!
    Thanks.

By any chance are the songs that you are having issues with encoded using Apple's AAC format? I have an ongoing issue with my ipod in that songs encoded with AAC (whether purchased or ripped) will skip to the next song at a random point in the song. If the song is encoded in .MP3 format, then I don't have a problem.

  • Shuffle cuts off last few seconds of the song

This morning when playing a playlist on Shuffle/Songs, iPod would cut off the last few seconds (15-30) abruptly and move on to the next track. I changed the shuffle to Album but with the same result. However, now in the afternoon, it is playing ok with the shuffle.
Has anyone else encountered such behavior? Could it be a bug in the software?

  • Song causes my ipod to shut off...please see details

I have an ipod shuffle first generation that I've had for 2 years and nothing like this has ever happened before. I downloaded new music to my ipod and when it gets to a certain song, it just dies. I can hear a faint click and then it just shuts off. Last night, I noticed that after this happened, there were two tiny dots, one green and one orange, right on top of the other where the green power dot usually is, but much smaller. I tried to take the song off, but the ipod still cuts off in that spot. To get it to play again, i have to click it off and then on again, which resets the whole thing. Did I download a bad song(it was off of itunes and it downloaded normally) or is there something wrong with the ipod?

What version of firmware is your shuffle running? See Settings pane...
If you know the name of the song, do File>GetInfo>Summary and tell us what it says.
    It may just be corrupted...
