My iPod is dead and won't work

So, 1 week ago I posted the same question but no replies. My iPod won't work because when i boot up my iPod, it displays the apple logo like normally, but after a few seconds, it dissapears with a white flash.
A few seconds later, the apple logo pops up again, and a screen saying "Use iTunes to restore" in many languages appears.
Problem is, when I plug into the computer, iTunes won't recognize it. After a while when it has this screen and plugged into computer, it shows "Do not disconnect", which is normal when in disk mode, but then automatically ejects itself and shows "OK to disconnect."
It is stuck on this screen and will not respond. I remember spilling water on it a long time ago but it still worked afterwards. Trying to use disk mode (Center button + play/pause) or diagnostic mode (Center button + rewind) didn't work. I tried hard reset (Center button + Menu/home) or soft reset (Hold down Play/pause button) both didnt work.
I tried absolutely everything. I know both the cable and port work with other devices. Do you know how to fix this problem without repairing my iPod or taking it in for service?
I already gone through the five Rs. iPod is charged. Resetting didn't work. Retrying different ports on my computer didn't help. Restart my computer and iTunes, still not recognized. Reinstall iTunes, didn't bother. Impossible to restore.
Please answer ASAP. Don't tell me "Same here" or "Please apple fix this" because they don't help.

- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store. If the cable is defective and not abused Apple will give you a new one.

My iPod is dead and won't charge or connect to the computer. How can I fix this? Before it died, it said I had a full battery whenever I charged it, but as soon as it came off of the charger, the battery level was always under ten per cent.

Sounds like the battery needs to be replaced.

  • IPod locked up and won't work

For starters I am fairly upset about my iPod crapping out on me. I was listening to Rage Against The Machine in my car and all of the sudden the iPod froze. When I tried to reset it, I saw the normal silver Apple logo ontop of a black background. After that, I recieve an unhappy iPod icon with an exclamation mark to the left side. Then it said go to www.apple.com/support/ipod.
Here is the thing, whenever I plug it into my Mac, nothing happens. I don't recieve a pop-up screen saying "Media not found" or whatever that thing is when you don't have the iPod software installed. I also don't have the iPod icon show up on my desktop, nor in iTunes. The iPod doesn't have the "DO Not Disconnect" warning. When plugged into the computer, the iPod screen turns to a battery icon with a lightning bold on the left side.
My question is this: What am I supposed to do?
I can't reset the iPod, I can't recieve any of the songs, I can't do anything quite frankly. ***** too because I have had this iPod for about ten months. (4th Generation Color Screen 20GB)

"If still does not solve try to run the iPod in “Diagnostic mode” . which can be accessed by pushing the “hold” switch into the “on” position and then “off” (into the original position). Then press the following buttons in the following order: “menu” plus “select” (centre button) then press “reverse” plus “select”. This will take you to the hidden diagnostic mode screen menu. It may take a few trials and pressing the buttons in the right way for this to work, so be patient and keep trying if you have to. The diagnostic mode will give you 7 choices which are: Memory, IO, Power, Status, SysCfg, Diskmode, and Reset. Don’t bother trying “reset” because in my case it didn’t work it just took me back to the same problem. Instead, choose “diskmode”, after which you should get an odd looking “ok to disconnect” sign on the iPod screen. "
I'm pleased that I did a little digging through the forums. That diagnostic thing helped me out and solved my issue.

  • HT1339 My IPod is Frozen and won't work at all

I just got it and I don't know much about it at all! I Need help or Im taking it back!! Very dissapointed.

You have to sometimes hold the home and power buttons for longer than 10 seconds. If nothing happens after 30 seconds, THEN something is wrong.

  • HT1363 ipod making clicking noise and won't work

Ipod making clicking noise and won't work. Display see apple store. We live in a rural area so one is not close!

OK, I have the 30G w/video and it does that too. I've had it a year with no problems. My husband went on the treadmill with it a couple days ago and after a few songs it froze. I did the whole regime of toggling and pressing menu/select button, I put in on my Bose speaker/charger and it switched to very low battery warning. When I took it off to move to computer it said to connect to computer and use restore (in a few languages). I connected and it recognized it and I did restore and after a few minutes screen came up saying it could NOT restore. Then ipod was unrecognized and then ipod screen gave me the very sad little ipod picture with the support web site. At that point it began making the clicking nose - morris code does describe it but I was invisioning a little nano sprite in there with a chisel!!So, same as you, I go there and it's like a maze trying to find help!! Of course my warranty was up exactly 6 weeks ago!! I tried linking through all the stuff like finding a service provider in my area, contact the "knowledge base" etc., and I can't get anyone! Now what are we gonna do?

  • My Ipod 4th generations Camera won't work, how do I fix it?

My Ipod 4th generations Camera won't work, how do I fix it?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

My Iphone4 went dead and won't turn back on inspite of charging it for whole night. Any idea?

Try the suggestions in this Apple document -> Troubleshooting iPhone hardware
Will not turn on, or will not turn on unless connected to power
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions.   If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage.   If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check    if the Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) in the headset jack or dock connector is activated or there are signs of corrosion or debris. Learn more about LCIs.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least 15 minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has  charged for at least 20 minutes: See   "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
If something other than the Home screen or Low Battery screen appears on the display, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, try resetting it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter. To reset, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or the battery symbol appears.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Restore the iPhone.   Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
If that doesn't work, have a Genius take a look at it.
