My ipod is deleting music

i started syncing my music and accident unplugged my ipod and now the a lot of the songs aren't playin. does anyone know whats goin on? (I have a 5th gen. ipod)

Restoring it would remove everything and add back your songs. When you say your ipod is "deleting my songs", then the only thing you can do it to add them back, the best way is using the restore function.

As I add new songs to my iPod, my iPod would delete multiple songs off my iPod. How can I fix this problem?

Not quite. An iOS backup saves only the camera roll and settings/data for your apps. The apps themselves and all media need to be stored in the local library. If not they will be removed on syncing. Purchased items should be transferred into the library during sync but thay may not always happen. It is also worth noting that iTunes only backs up once each day unless you prompt it to do so again.

  • Ipod nano deleting music problem

i bought an ipod nano from disc replay for my 7 yr old stepson for christmas and i cant figure out how to delete the previous owners songs off of it and to add our own?

    Hey there JTharp2013,
It sounds like the iPod nano has the previous owners music, and you would like to sync your music to it. You should be able to reset the device back to factory defaults, then use your library to sync your music over with your iTunes library.

    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Updating ipod without deleting music

I can't get at the music on my son's 4th gen ipod touch.  (Ok, we can play it on the ipod, but I can't delete anything.)
I am trying to delete SOME of the music on my son's 4th gen ipod touch.  When I try to access his machine via itunes on my pc, itunes wants to do an update before I can see anything.  Then it says do you really want to delete everything when you update?  Of course I say, no, I DON'T want to do that--and then I'm back to not being able to see anything or get at the music on the ipod. If I choose "cancel", there is no other way to even SEE what's on there.  He's got so much stuff on there I can't update anything without deleting something. I took off all his photos but it's not enough, and I don't want to delete his apps.  Stuck, frustrated...I have no "coping skills" for apple products and I'm ready to flush this thing.  Annoyed that I can't just delete the songs from the darn ipod without having to hook up to my pc and do this update.  (I understand you can do this in 5th gen, but as I said, this is 4th gen.)

  • Syncing iPod - iTunes deleted music

My son deleted a bunch of music on our iBook in order to make some space on our Hard Disk. We've since gotten more space on the hard disk because I've moved my user data to another computer. There are more songs on my son's iPod than there are in his iTunes folder. How do I sync in reverse?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Senuti Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
    iRepo Mac & Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • Ipod update deleted music

I pluged my ipod and my motorola ipod phone into my computer to receive the update and after the updates finished all of my music was deleted off of both ipods. Has anyone had this problem or does any one know what i wrong.

LoL, well, sorry to say it, but from my experience, if you do that... you're screwed.
Once you sync it with library, the songs no tin your library will be erased. Like when you delete something off a flashdrive...

  • IPod sync deletes music/playlists

I am gettng very frustrated with this issue - Everytime I plug my iPod into the computer to charge it initiates an itunes sync - that part is OK, the problem is that it erases all my music from the iPod.  I am using the latest iPod ios (6.x) and itunes (10.x),  When I restore the factory settings and reinstall everything, the music gets copied to my iPod but this is time consuming and I need to do it every time!  Just crazy.  I have wifi and icloud sync turned off.  I have no idea how to get around this problem and am about ready to throw the thing out the window.  It's an ipod touch 60gb with about 12 gb of music.
Can anyone please help with this issue??

Try not letting it sync automatically, i.e., set to "Manually manage ..." in the iPod Summary page. Worked for me for a similar (but less destructive) problem.

  • Cannot delete music from ipod touch, tried everything suggested thus far.

I have tried several suggestions up to this point and nothing has worked. It is my understanding that everything in My Music, (on my PC) transfers to the iTunes program, either manually or automaticlly. It is also my understanding that if I add or delete music from iTunes, that it will automatically be added or deleted on my iPod Touch, (4th gen). Well, none of this has proven to be true...at best, it is sporatic and frustrating. Any new ideas out there?

Thanks for the help....I tried your suggestion, but I am still experiencing inconsistent results.
    Buy doing what?...
You need to be more specific about what you are trying. "I've tried several suggestions" tells us nothing. You've tried my suggestion (but I made two - dependant upon what you are doing), but you haven't told me how you are managing your iPod, are you using Sync or manually managing? Without that knowledge, everything else is meaningless.
If you are using Sync, and you have selected *Sync only ticked songs and videos,* then un-ticking a song and then performing a Sync will remove the song. So what are you doing?

  • Cannot delete music from iPod nano (latest generation).  Have already selected "Manually Manage music and videos" but delete is unavailable from right click or Edit.

I have done everything I've seen recommended for deleting music (jncluding "manually manage").  Thanks for the assistance!!!

Did you Apply the change after selecting (checking the box for) Manually manage music and videos?
With the latest iTunes, if the sidebar is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
In the sidebar, select the iPod under DEVICES.  Click the toggle (to the left of iPod) to drop down the iPod's content list, indented under iPod.  Click on Music there.  Over to the right, the list of songs on the iPod is shown.  You can select songs there, right click on them, and select Delete from the contextual menu.  You can also select songs there, go up to the menu bar, and select Delete under Edit.  You can also select songs there, and just press the Delete key on the keyboard.
If you want to use automatic syncing, which is far more convenient than the manual method, and easily manage content on the iPod (add and remove songs), please post back.

  • I have about 800 more songs on my nano than itunes, due to a crash. How can I get the songs onto itunes from the ipod, or at least get the new music ive gotten since the crash onto my ipod without deleting all the other songs when it syncs?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

  • I can no longer delete music from my iPhone or IPod

I have an early iPod, my wife has an iPhone and an iPad.  I have tried to delete music (transferred from my owned CDs to the computer) and podcasts from these instruments, but when I go to my computer and attach the device like I used to, the music is greyed out and I cannot delete it.  What do I do?

Sounds like you want to manually remove content from each device.  In order to be able to do that, you need to have the Manually manage music and videos option enabled under each device's Summary tab in iTunes.
If you want to continue automatically syncing each device with iTunes, you'll need to configure each device to no longer sync the content you want removed from each device via the Music configuration tab.

  • How do i delete music on my ipod classic. so that i don't loose music i syced to the ipod library.

my computer crashed so i had to re sinc my music to the i tunes library. now i need to no how to delete music on my i pod classic so i can re sinc my music in the new library, to my ipod classic

Unless you have iOS 5 or later (which you do not) you have to connect the iPod to your computer and unsync the music.
Delelete any apps that are on your computer that are also on the iPod, Then transfer them to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
