My ipod is getting recognized neither in itunes nor in windows. What do i do?

since yesterday i have been transferring my music perfectly fine. today for some reason, i accidently took my ipod shuffle out witout pressing the eject button or clicking the safely remove device from my computer. Hi - We seem to have encountered the same problem!! I forgot to eject the ipod from itunes last night and now itunes will not recognise the ipod. The pc recognises it in device settings, but you cannot restore it from that point. I have downloaded the restore function, but the restore button does not highlight, so that is no good.
I am in a dilema here because no one seems to know how to fix the problem, I've only had it a couple days!!!

If you need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes, your music files should not be erased or affected in any way. It is always a good idea to back up your data before making any changes to your computer, though.

If your iPod does not have volume buttons on the upper left edge or an internal speaker it is a 1G (original iPod) that can be updated as far as 3.1.3

Resolution

3. Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
1. Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
2. Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using theMicrosoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.

HT201263 I am not able to restore neither from iTunes nor from iCloud. The proble with iTunes is it says that the backup is corrupted or incompatible. And I am not able to connect to iCloud for restoring. I have IOS 7.0.4 when I have taken the backup.

my computer would crash, sometimes it'd just sync a couple random songs, sometimes i'd get error -50, somtimes a different message that said the disk could not be read or written to.....
it worked perfectly for me!make sure to follow the directions. it's easy and resolves many Windows XP problems related to ipods. for more info try microsoft help and support and just serch for ipod. it list a bit more info there. it doesn't say anything about reinstalling the apple software, but just to be thorough i unistalled itunes and quicktime before anything just to start with a clean slate, then reinstalled them from my ipod disk after the restart. then i downloaded all the updates from apple. my ipod has never worked better. good luck. theres no link to the page just search for ipod in windows help and support for exact text...

IPod Not getting Recognized in Recovery Mode! HELP!

I woke my iPod Touch 2G (Running iOS4.0) this morning, it froze.. so I held down the power button and the home button which does a soft reset, and it tuned back on with the wire and iTunes, or it was in Restore mode..
Then just now I tried connecting it to my old computer cause my Laptop is dead too. So it said to restore it because it was malfunctioning. Which I tried to do - then it told me I couldn't restore/update to 2.2.1 because it was too old. So I got 4.1 and iTunes 10. Which brought up the quicktime hassle, so I installed that too, and now my computer isn't recognizing the iPod, because it's in recovery mode it won't recognize it in My Computer either. I've tried restarting and reinstalling. It installed the iPod recovery hardware, but I have no clue how to delete that on XP. :S
I've been trying for about 3 hours now.
I've now tried installing iTunes 9.1 which wouldn't open. Deleted anything that says Apple or iPod off my computer, and so hopefully it might install the driver software again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your input, I just tried that. Apple Mobile Device was not working with iTunes, so I opened up the iTunesSetup with Winrar and installed AppleMobileDevice.msi which started up the service, and I also removed every bit of Apple from my computer, then reinstalled them both. Everything was running how fine, then I connected the iPod and it still wasn't recognized. It just wakes up with the same recovery screen with the wire/arrow/old iTunes logo. It doesn't show up on iTunes nor does it show up in My Computer as a drive.

I've tried so many of what some call 'solutions', but nothing worked.
I NEED HELP!
My problem: my iPod charges, an icon to disconnect it appears in the taskbar, but it's not in My Computer, and not in iTunes.
I've tried the 'disk management' window. My iPod appears but I can't format it (a window shows up telling me that it's impossible).
It seems like a driver is missing. It was the same in iTunes 6.
CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE??? (I'm about to kill myself)

If it's syncing intermittently, when you hold the cable at an angle, etc., 90% odds it's the cable. They're about $20 at Apple Store, Best Buy, etc. Good luck!
