My computer just crashed when i was transferring songs to my ipod mini and when i unplugged my ipod and turned it on all that comes up is the apple logo and then after a short while a folder with an exclamation mark.I have done the 5 r's(or whatever there called) i have reset my ipod by pressing select and menu button down and the logo goes but then comes back and then the folder with exclamation mark does. When i plug it into my computer the do not disconnect sign comes up but then there is nothing on the computer to sa that it is connected. Its not picked up in my computer or in itunes.I have also downloaded the latest version of itues and still it doesnt work. Also whenever i try to open up a folder on my computer it crashes when the ipod is plugged in but then when i unplug the ipod the computer is fine.Is it well and truly--- DEAD?

Thanks for that.Ive gone throgh everything on there and still t doesnt work grrrr.I did the ipod diagnostics and everything is fine apart from the HDscan as it is always coming up FAIL! everytime i try to turn it on an apple logo appears and the hard drive makes a whirling clicking sound then a folder comes up with an exclamamtion mark the same as before. Is this well and truly Dead?

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • I got a new ipod because mine broke, they said my credits would be refunded, Help?

I got a new ipod because mine broke, and the people at the Apple Store said when I plug it into my computer, all my credits would be refunded (for my music) and it never did. Help?

Make sure you iPod is on the latest version of iOS, and open iTunes on your iPod. Then, tap purchased on the bottom of the screen, and choose a song. Then, tap the icon with a cloud and you can redownload the song for free. You can't, however, get a refund.

  • IPod is broke i think

Hi i just bought a new 30 gb iPod that plays video. I got it today in the mail and when i went to get everything ready to dl music i started to charge the ipod and connected it to my comp before i installed the softare. Now my iPod wont restart or respond or anything. Help me PLZ!!

Try plugging and unplugging the iPod more than ten times in a row, sounds weird but it sometimes works if the reset procedure doesn't do it.

  • My ipod is broke i think

bassically my ipod touchc 5g was on 20% battery so i had been told to charge for 4 hours because my ipods battery was dranning very quickly so i had charged it for 4 hours and then i had removed the lead from the ipod played on my ipod for about 5 mins and it drainned battery in seconds and all suden turned off so i had turned it back on it was about half way so i had used it again for about 5 mins and it happend again why is this could someone help asap

You need to take that Touch to an Apple store genius bar for testing...continuing to force it to restart after it shutsdown will destroy the battery.  Lithium-Ion batteries should never be forced into restart after they have shutdown.

  • Songs on ipod randomly disappear but itunes thinks they are still there on ipod

my ipod recently randomly deleted all my songs on my ipod except for an ep i bought directly from my ipod. I had not synced it in a while so that has nothing to do with it. when i did sync it to try and retrieve all my songs, my itunes still acts as though nothing happened and all my songs are there. i tried turning off and on my ipod and no one seems to have had this happen to them so i dont know what to do. all my apps work and none of my photos got wiped though.

Does your iPod touch show the shows as still there if you check Settings > General > About? Does that match the number of songs synced from iTunes?
You can always search Spotlight on the iPod too, to see if its still on there somewhere.
If you think there is a problem with the software on the iPod touch, try restoring it.

  • Just a general comment, I've gone totally Apple--iPhone, MacBook Pro, iPad and iPod.  I'm seriously thinking of going back after a few years since I've spent a fortune and can't change now.  If Apple is so bloody wonderful, why do they suck so badly?

As a continuation above, who are the people who have been praising Apple to the heavens?  For those of us who aren't tech-savvy, Apple totally blows.  There is next to nothing intuitive about their products and they seem giddy about giving their customers extra steps for everything.  Why can't I sync my iPhone seamlessly?  Why do I always run the risk of deleting my music when I want to sync?  Why are there so many steps in creating ringtones?  Why does the right-click on the mouse have so few options?  Why do I have to click upwards of twenty times on desktop icons to get the file to emerge?  Again, I'm not a techie but it seems that Apple is made for people with master's degrees in software programming.  I've spent a small fortune on Apple products because Microsoft has become a lumbering dinosaur populated by zit-covered nerds with no concept of how the general public works.  Do I go back, especially with that abortion, Windows 8?  Or do I wait for the next iteration since Microsoft can only create a decent product with every other release?
I'd like to know what others think.  Granted, I'm upset right now, but I've been getting more and more frustrated with Apple.  We need a third company out there, kinda like a third political party.

why do i even bother posting on this.. i just got a correct response from the help team. yes i can do something about it. get a new processor, exchange, sell or replace. that's the answer i was looking for.
i CAN do something about it, just like i could with my windows laptop, iphone and old ipod. It's sorted.
I got the response I was looking for. It's not an issue. New models come out all the time, i agree, but i have exchanged and sorted this out every time, like my iphone 4 to the 4S. and an apple advisor helped me with this.
My question was a genuine question - and funnily enough - the Apple helpline thought it was too.

  • Has anyone ever returned an iPod Touch?  I am thinking about doing this

mine was a gift, and I know it was purchased at a store (not an Apple Store).  Do I need to return it to the store or do I return it to Apple directly?  Probably the store, because Apple isn't going to refund me my money.  I am sorry to say after having this for 3 days, and after all of my excitement of getting it, I am terribly disappointed, all because of the Wi-fi issues.  Not staying connected is not letting me even play with half the features that this has that my old Classic iPod does not.  It really isn't much more fun than my Classic without being able to use Wi-fi!

Wifi Issue:  I got the iPod Touch on Monday, and got it hooked up to my home wifi network, but couldn't access the Internet or YouTube or Facebook.
then on Tuesday I finally got it connected and last night I was watching Youtube, and checking Facebook and loving it.  I had to restore the whole iPod and start all over.
Then today (Wednesday) my iPod shows I have a strong WiFi connection in my house, appears that everything is in working order, other devices in the house are connecting with the network, but I cannot access youtube, facebook, etc.  I did unplug my router, turn off of the iPod by holding the home button and on/off button until the apple showed up, I reset the network settings, changed them even to WPA....and all I get is a symbol that says I have WiFi connection, but can't connect to anything.  I did not try to completely restore the whole thing again today.  I thought about it, but if that is what it is going to require for me to get it running every day then forget it!  It isn't worth my time!  I am just sadly disappointed.
Unless some miracle happens over the weekend or before then, I think I am going to return the gift that I was so long awaiting!  Just makes me sad.  But I am seeing so many other people having issues with the wifi connection.....frustrating!

  • Ipod cable connection failed; also think Ipod file may be corrupted.

I was able to purchase and download a song from ITunes today.
It got to the hard drive, and then I was able to transfer it to the Ipod.
But when I tried to play it, the screen froze.
When I turned the computer off and turned it back on, I got an error message, something liked "dirty pool" and it said that Windows was being shut down.
I turned the computer on again and couldn't get Windows to boot until I removed the USB cable.
Since then, I cannot get the IPod to work.
The computer is not showing that the Ipod is connected to it.
When I run diagnostics, I get a "failed" message (a red dot) next to "Ipod connection cable".
I have plugged the USB into at least three USB ports and get the same error message.
I have tried pushing various combinations on the Ipod to get it to turn off, as well as toggling the Hold button. It will not turn off.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes twice.
Because the computer doesn't "read" the Ipod, I cannot reset it or resync it. The Ipod is not listed under "devices" in ITunes.
When I downloaded the song, there was a CD game in the CD player. It was automatically ejected at some point, I think it was after I tried to get the Ipod to work. I fear that may have corrupted the Ipod or something in the computer.
Do I have any options, other than taking the Ipod in to be fixed? I just bought this on Saturday.

Scratch that. I was able to fix it with the help of a good friend.

  • My iPod 5 charger broke can I get a new one from Apple.

I have a iPod 5th generation charger that is bent at a certain point and is critical for charging it. The spot where the wires are connected to the motherboard of the USB. The cable is bent on the USB that goes in the iPod. I've heard that the 5th generation chargers are weak at that spot. And to be honest I didn't buy apple care only because I didn't have enough money. So I don't think there's warranty on the charger. Sorry for the bad description I did the best I could it's really hard to explain.

The cable is covered by the same warranty that covers the iPod. If the cable is defective and has not been abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I have been using the same Lightning cable for my iPad 4 and 7G iPod Nano for over a year and a half with no problem

  • Bottom iPod 4 connector broke, warranty claim?

my iPod 4g bought in December 2010, I realised there has been weirdness with the charging and all so I looked and found out that the bottom connector has broke off a tiny corner. No idea why.
The thing is, in Malaysia here, we don't have the Apple Store but only the Authorised dealer- Switch.
They told me they have to take my ipod for two weeks but I thought we could get an immediate claim when you bring it to the store? I have no idea.

In the USA I could bring it in to a store (make appointment at the Genius Bar) and very likely walk out with a refurbished replacement iPod.  However, for authorized distributors, the policy can vary.  What you were told sounds reasonable.

  • IPod formatted on Mac, but thinks Windows??

I have an iPod Nano that I originally started up/formatted on my MacBook (2 yrs old, black one). I am trying to put music on it from my Powerbook G4 (5 years old, silver) and for some reason, my Powerbook thinks my iPod is formatted for Windows. ??
Should I just reset to factory settings? Then do I format on my Powerbook and hope it works on my MacBook too??
