My Ipod is having spasms.

My iPod only charges when on my iHome. When I plug it into a computer, I have to restart is for the computer to even identify it, and then the computer whipes my battery clean out.
When I leave my iPod idle, the "charged" screen appears, nomatter how low or high the battery is.
The battery icon in the top right corner always has the "charged" icon and nothing else.
When I plug my iPod into a wall charger, it starts having spasms. It will turn off then on, then off then on, then off then on, and so on... every time it turns of I can hears a small whistle sounding noise.
POTENTIALLY USEFUL INFORMATION:
- I've had it a year and 3 months.
- It's a black 5th gen.
What is the problem?
What should I do?
What's the best way to take care of said problem?

  • Is there a way to put a large amount of music on your iPod without having to keep all the files in iTunes on your computer as well? I want to put my entire music collection (including cds) on my iPod but don't want to take up the space on my computer.

is there a way to put a large amount of music on the ipod without having to keep all the files on itunes as well? I want to use my ipod as an externa drive and put all of my music on it without taking up the space on my computer. I also don't want to lose all my files everytime I plug ipod into my computer. Is this possible? Is there a way to avoid using itunes and only use the ipod as an external drive?

You cannot put music onto your iPod without using iTunes, that what iTunes is for.
It's also not a good idea to wipe the music from your computer and having it only on your iPod. We see countless posts here from people who have done just that - and then lost everything when the iPod needs a Restore. Even if you never need to Restore your iPod, what happens when you eventually replace the iPod? You'll be back here asking how to get the music from one iPod to another. That's not easy to do, we see countless posts about that too!
A much better idea is to buy an external drive (a proper external drive, not simply an iPod) and put your large amount of music onto that drive. Then point your iTunes Library to that drive. However, you need to remember two things:
You still need a backup of that Library.
Using an external drive as your iTunes Library means that the drive must be connected and ready to read before starting your iTunes programme. If it isn't, then iTunes will look on the C: drive - and you will find no music in your Library. (Once again, lots of posts about that as well!)

  • Is there a way to delete songs from an ipod without having to connect to iTunes?

is there a way to delete songs from an ipod without having to connect to iTunes?

Does delete (from the iPhone) really delete the songs from the iPhone, or just hide the songs?
I normally list "By artist".  I can delete an album (by swiping on the album sidways and then pressing delete), and the album (and all the songs) don't appear in the music player on the iPhone; But when I look at music in iTunes for the iPhone, the songs are still there.
    I'm confused.

How do I delete a song from my ipod without having to delete the entire album or artist?

Open the music app and select the Songs view. Swipe your finger to the right along any song and then press the red Delete button that appears.
You can also delete individual songs in iTunes by selecting a single song and pressing Delete on your keyboard.

  • My ipod is having random seizures

So the subject generally explains things. My ipod touch, which I've had for maybe 5-6 months by now and has worked perfectly, is now having random spasms of resetting. Although I haven't located a direct cause for it, occasionally I'll find it automatically shutting off, then starting back up again (with the apple symbol) and then shutting off again and repeating the process over and over. It has done this a few times to the point of where it ran the battery completely out. Sometimes I'll be able to make it "snap out of it" by hitting the home or sleep button a couple times as it starts up again. Right now I'm thinking it's because of a sticky sleep button, since I have also seen it bring up the "slide to power off" screen" which requires you to hold the button down for a few seconds. Does anyone know what's going on?

How long has it been since the water damage and how long did you wait for it to dry before turning it on or connecting it to power?

  • How do i add a playlist from itunes to my ipod without having to sync any of my music.

i noticed that you can select certain playlists to sync with but i just want to add them and not erase my other music. itunes wont let me drag the playlist onto my ipod but thats really all i want to do. i am working with a pretty slow computer that crashes alot so having to put all my music back onto my ipod (50ish gbs) usually takes awhile with many attempts. please help! again i stress i do not ant to use the sync selected playlists feature. as for background i have the newest itunes and a 4th gen 64gb touch.

Do it by manually managing music. Go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.

  • HT1414 My iPod has the IOS 5.1.1 OS and I can't download some apps because the operating system is too old. How can I upgrade my iPod without having to buy a new one?

I have an iPod Touch that has the IOS 5.1.1 and I want to update my OS without having to buy a new device. How can I do this? I have logged into ITunes, backed up my device and it says my device is up to date, but now I can't reload my Facebook App because it says I need IOS 6.0 or higher. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • 1 gen ipod user having some problems with click wheel

    hello forms,
I have a 4 gb 1gen black ipod nano and lately ive beem having problems with the click wheel. The problem is that when i wnt to skip to the next song fast forward etc. it takes alot of pressure to make it change song fast forward etc. and i was wondering i know my ipod is out of the whatever day warrenty but I havent done anything wierd or stupid with my ipod so would this still be covered by warrenty as a defect.

Either way, as the iPod is out of warranty, it will be expensive to repair/replace if you ask Apple to do it. Take it to a store by all means, but also consider 3rd party options.

  • IPod Classic having strange issues

My 80 Gig iPod Classic is having the following issues:
1.) It appears empty when I search for songs using the wheel.
2.) It shows on my desktop as "Unknown" and is ejectable when I drag it to the trash.
3.) When I put it into disk mode, clicking the mounted disk on my desktop shows pictures and about 150 songs that are unchangeable (i.e., I tried deleting stuff and I was given error code 61.)
4.) I can reset it using Menu+Select, and I can also put it into disk mode.
5.) When plugged in to my computer it displays "connected, eject before disconnecting."
6.) When I eject it (by using the trash bin) it displays "ok to disconnect" - but it immediately resets, the Apple logo comes on, and it asks me to select a language preference.
7.) When it's first plugged in, iTunes will open and the Apple logo at the top of the screen will flash quickly, but the device does not show on the left hand side of the screen.
    And the biggest problem...
8.) It is not recognized by iTunes - therefore I can't figure out how to restore it.
I have 8 other kinds of iPods/iPhones, all of them are recognized by iTunes (version 9.1) using my MacBook Pro, using 3 different USB ports. I've restarted iTunes, my computer, everything, and I still cannot get the device to show in iTunes.
Any suggestions to get this going?

  • 2.2 Generation one Ipod touch having trouble connecting to wifi

Ok, I am having a BIG issue with connecting my ipod touch to a linksys WRT54GX4 wireless router running WPA/WPA2 wireless security (there is an option that allows BOTH to be selected, but I disabled WPA2 as an option after I first started having issues with the IPOD touch wifi).
    Here are all the details.
Bought the Ipod touch last December and while the firmware version was in the "1's", I had no issues connecting to the router and using the wifi functions.
After the 2.0 upgrade, I had intermittent connection issues with the router. Sometimes, I could connect to the router easily and maintain a connection; however, the MAJORITY of the time, I would select the router from the wifi list, and receive a "Cannot connect to router" error. When I could connect, I would often lose my connection after a minute or two (regardless of using safari, youtube or the email client; all three would cause the connection to drop).
Now, in 2.2, I STILL get issues connecting to the router with no seeming relief! I find that after I restart the router (power off for 30 seconds), I am able to connect, albeit with a slower connection, for a while. After I put the Ipod on "hold" after that first time, I start getting the problems I listed above with intermittent connectivity. Since I am not the only person in my household who uses my router wirelessly, powering off the router whenever I want to connect the IPOD is NOT an option!
Here are connection logs from the router, annotated by me to show different attempts to connect. I hope these can help a technician resolve my problem:

    #Same here#
This is incredibly frustrating. Should I return the IPOD to an apple store and ask for a new one? Is there a setting on my router that will allow the IPOD to actually connect?
    Some more information:
    *Mac filtering is off.
    *Encryption algorithm is TKIP
*Group renewal key is 3600 seconds
*First installed firmware 2.0 OVER 1.4. After I got wifi issues, I restored the ipod to 2.0 after a full format. Did not solve my problems.
    Please help...

I am so disappointed! The exact samething has happened to me, AND my husbands Touch. We had no problems before, and as you say with 2.1 a little stared - I ignored it because I love and defend my touch. After 2.2 all heck broke loose, I went to the genius bar and of course it ran perfect there. I had numerous screen shoots in one day, 'failed to connect to server, safari server, gmail server' - timed out blah blah blah, so they suggested I call my internet provider, they run a test and everything fine, they suggest I call the router people, ten bucks later and with nothing really showing a problem with the router our Touches still do not work like they used to. I am NOT buying a iphone, I want Apple to fix it or tell me how, it worked fine before what the heck gives, I wish someone could answer honestly.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest, I really hate to switch to Zune as my nephew has been bragging about.

  • How do i get numbers out from my ipod withouth having it

i dont have my ipod touch but i want to know if i can get numbers without having it on me

If you mean documents in the Numbers app then yes if you created an iCloud account and the iPod was signed into the account. In that case on a browser go to icloud, com, sing in and go to iWork then click on Numbers in the upper center.. You can download Pages, Numbers and Keynote documents by right clicking on the document and selecting Download.

  • Ipod is having a spaz attack!!!!!

I bought my ipod more than a year ago, and i did not get an extended warranty.
When i try to turn on my ipod, my ipod flashes the white apple with the black background, then immediately shuts off. Oh but wait! let me try again! The ipod tries to turn itself on again, but with no success. Oh but wait! let me try again! Once again, the ipod tries to turn itsaelf on, but it fails again. This continues multiple timnes until i eventually just give up and go do something else and wait for it to run out of battery from trying to turn itself on.
So, what have i tried? Well, i hooked it up to my computer, but it does not show up in itunes and it doesn't even show a "do not disconnect" sign. it simply continues its random spaz attack and does not stop until it says "very low battery, please wait" and it begins to charge. after charging from the computer, it then begins to turn on and off once again.
The three ways i can get it to stop from spazzing is by a) waiting for the battery to drain
    b) toggling hold 10 times
    c) holding menu and select for 10 seconds.
despite this, it's not very productive becuase my ipod still completely flips out on me when i press "menu"
sooo..... what the **** is up with this?

yeah im having the same problem. i was told to try putting into disk mode. first, toggle the hold switch on and off. then hold the select and menu buttons. then, immediatly after the apple logo appears, hold the select and play/pause buttons until it goes into disk mode. your itunes will then recognize it and you can restore it to its original factory settings. holy cow! it just worked for me!
    try it!!
