My ipod is not recognised in windows or in itunes

I'm using winows XP. How do I fix the problem?

You replied to me.  I do not understand your answer since the issue is with iTunes on the computers not seeing the iPod.  Nothing about not charging.

Have you considered that it could be your charger that is faulty? If this is not the case, you may need to contact apple itself.

  • IPod Touch not recognised by Windows 8 or iTunes whilst in Recovery mode.

    Hello!
I recently updated my iTunes account and during the update on syncing my iPod touch (5th gen) my iPod put itself in to recovery mode and now both iTunes and my computer (in Windows 8) wont recognise my iPod.
    I've followed the steps here> https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT204095
But I've had no success, the main stop I get to is when in Device Manager (where there are two entries under 'Other devices' both entries have a '!' in front of them and are listed as ' Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)')  in Windows when I get to "Install disk" and input-ing the file Apple support suggests, an error message comes up saying that the folder I've selected doesn't contain a compatible software driver for my device.
On plugging in my iPod my computer makes the normal 3 pings and begins to charge with my ipod lighting up and saying to connect to iTunes, but Windows does not recognise it. I've tried my other USB ports, my other USB cable (all genuine Apple Parts) and I have tried another computer (also Windows) that did not recognise my iPod.
I have confirmed that Apple Mobile device is supported in the programs and have restarted it as well.
I've also removed and reinstalled iTunes and removed other 3rd party software (like the software for my mobile) as the article suggested. The only thing I haven't done is fully removed all my Apple Software entirely and then reloading it but I thought before I make this big leap I'd check if there were any other ideas from everyone.
Any ideas? I'm a bit stumped with this as it seemingly happened for no other reason then iTunes updating.
    Thanks

Yes I've got the original USB that the iPod came with and I've tried all 3 of my USB ports and my other USB devices are working with no issue.
I've been through my antiVirus too and the internet firewall, disabling and then retrying, but with no changes.
I think I'm just delaying the inevitable of taking the time to uninstall everything and start again.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Ipod 5 not recognised by windows or Itunes, no drivers found in devmgmt.msc

    Hello there.
My Ipod 5th Gen is having problems. When I try to connect it to my windows 8 laptop I get nothing. Not even an "unrecognised device" message. I am guessing there is no driver to process it, or something like that. All my other USB devices are working.
I have tried all the ideas listed on the support. when I take a screenshot and try to find it as a camera, nothing appears. There is no "portable devices" section, no "other devices" section. It is completely unresponsive.
I have no conflicting software, and everything has been reinstalled, including AMDS.
Here is a screenshot of my Devmgmt.msc:
    thanks In advance.

  • Ipod touch not recognised in windows or itnes since updating to itunes9

    Hi all,
I upgraded to itunes9 and now my ipod touch (2nd gen 16gb) is not recognised in either windows or itunes.
The ipod still charges via the USB lead so presmably there is nothing wrong there
So far I have tried the following
Uninstalled all itunes, apple stuff, bonjour etc
    reinstalled
still same issue.. stopped and restarted apple mobile.. repaired apple mobile.. etc etc
rebooted a zillion times and spent the last 36 hours tearing my hair out all to no avail, its still not recognised.
At one stage i had a "device found" message, swiftly followed by a "device has malfunctioned" error message and back to square one again.
It's my understandin that I can't ring apple (unless I pay) as I have had the ipod since Jan 2009 so if anyone here could help or has any suggestions I wold really appreciate it.
In the device manager there is nothing ipod related in the Universal Serial Bus section or anwhere else in there, have tried it in every USB port.. it charges from them all.. but nothing else. I'm so frustrated
    Sue.

This is happening to me also. After installing Windows 7-64, the sync with my Ipod freezes after a couple of songs transfers. Tried everything imaginable: Itunes reinstall, execute with compability to VIsta, energy safe mode off to USB ports/hubs, cable change, restore Ipod. I have a Acer Aspire M3641, lastest ITunes version, latest software on Ipod. Please Microsoft, Apple, Intel, whoever, WAKE UP !!! Code 0xE8000065

  • IPod Touch not recognised on Windows 8 and will not appear as connected in iTunes.

Usually when I plug my iPod Touch (4th Gen) into my laptop (Windows 8) it appears automatically on iTunes for me to sync. However, when I tried to do this today, iTunes did not recognise that a device was connected and this was confirmed after I did a diagnostic test. Windows recognises that an iPod has been plugged in, however where it usually says "Alicia's iPod Touch", it just appears as "Apple iPod" and when I click on it, I cannot access any photos/videos that I have on my iPod. Any help would be very much appreciated if anybody know how I can fix this. Thank you.

  • IPod 4G not recognised in Windows 8

My iPod 4G is not recognised in iTunes. I am running Windows 8 and I have tried ALL methods that's could find but it is still not working. My question to the community of Apple is to please help me connect my iPod to my iTunes. This problem also extends to my other devices which makes it a problem of my computer rather than my iDevice. I have also tried this on my friends laptop with successful results but would like to get it to work on my laptop.

Done EVERTHING mentioned above. Here is some results of diagnostics that I ran on iTunes.

  • 6th generation ipod nano not shown in windows 8 or itunes

ipod nano briefly appears in windows then disappears and is not shown in itunes at all. I get error message saying "an ipod has been detected, but could not be identified properly" Have re-installed itunes, reset the ipod  and restarted the laptop many times. Any advice please?

I've spoken with Apple and here is their response (worked for me). You need to uninstall not only iTunes, but also (in this order):
    1) iTunes
    2) Apple Software Update
    3) Apple Mobile Device Support
    4) Bonjour
    5) Apple Application Support
Then you restart your computer. Then you install the latest version of iTunes (which will reinstall all those things you uninstalled). Then you restart your computer again.

  • My ipod is not recognised since installing the latest Itunes update. Why is this?

Downloading the latest version of Itunes yesterday and have not been able to sync my ipod since then. An error message keeps coming up about the device not being recognised. Have gone over all of the support pages to solve this but have got nowhere. Wondering has anyone else had issues like this since yesterday and being able to sove this?

The iPod touch use additional drivers than the Nano.

  • Solution to iPod not recognised by Windows XP and iTunes

I have seen many people having a really hard time with their iPods when they suddenly get a message saying that an unknown usb device has malfunctioned...etc, when they connect their iPod on their computer. I had this problem too and for a few stressfull days i have been searching for a solution and testing my iPod on other computers to see if it's its fault.
I found out iPod was ok and the problem was on my computer as my iPod worked fine on my friend's laptop. So i googled for a solution for this usb bug and found out it has been happening to other devices such as external hard drives.
I spotted someone saying that by turning off the computer and pulling the socket for 30 mins so that no electricity goes into the computer solved his problem.
At first i couldn't believe it was that simple because i had tried everything written on apple's support pages, tried to update the usb drivers (after reading a post), even messed up with BIOS and registry keys. To no avail.
But i tried this and left my pc shut for some hours just to be sure. It worked and i couldn't believe my eyes!
I hope someone finds this helpful. Unfortunately I don't know to whom goes the credit since i don't remember where i read it.

Hi all, seems to be a lot of issues with this little device. All it has to do is play music like any other mp3 player. Unfortunately, it can't even do this. The two other mp3 players I have work without fault, don't require a 35 meg program download to work, don't need to be connected to a computer to recharge the battery and I have never needed to "Do the 5 R's" to try and fix problems. I have never needed to unplug printers to get my computer to recognise the other players or had to decypher "blinking light codes" to understand what the device is doing. Still there are die-hard Apple fans who will say there must be something wrong with your computer. I had believed that Apple were superior in a range of ways yet with my first (and last) foray into the world of Apple products, I find this to be untrue. I don't want or need the frustration that I have experienced with this device and from the number of people on this forum, I would say that I am not alone.
