I have had to change computers recently. I have successfully installed iTunes and have put a load of songs on there but when I connect my ipod is not recognized by either the computer or iTunes. I have restored and reinstalled my ipod more times than i can remember this week. i have even given Apple customer support a call but i swear they just read of the website because i had already done everything they told me to. Please if anyone knows how i can sort this please, please, please help. I'm getting so frustrated.

My ipod is not recognized on my windows 7 anymore. Drivers are up to date and working properly, everything on my computer is fine, it's just my Ipod. It does not show up in my "Services". It's not my computer, because it doesn't work on any other computers either. I do not know what to do, and I really need help please.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try another cable
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Ipod is not recognized and is stuck on apple black screen.
So here's the story:
I have a 30Gb ipod.A few days ago it ran out of battery.and now ive been trying to charge it on my computer but it gets stuck on the black screen with the apple in it and keeps making some weird "start up" sounds all the time.I've tried resetting, reinstalling iTunes and a lot of other guides that ive been searching throughout the internet.I've ran out of options so I'd like to know if anyone could help.
Issues: 1-Ipod is stuck on black screen and doesnt charge
2-Ipod is not recognized by either windows or Itunes
3-When i try to put him and bring it back from disk mode it keeps the same.
I think that's all.any questions anyone might have please post it here.Don't suggest to try and make him run out of batteries cuz it doesnt stay on for long.It stays on the black screen and then shuts off.any help/hint/suggestion that doesn't involve buying a new one is appreciated :/
Thanks in advance.Try here:

I have tried all the regular solutions so please don't clog up the post with those suggestions. This problem has been presented many times in many different ways and NEVER solved. I bought the Ipod touch 3g on ebay so it may have been jailbroken or attempts made in that regard. What I want to know is:
IS THERE A HARDWARE PROBLEM THAT CAUSES THIS SYMPTOM, because I always hear the line "ipod firmware is indestructable" even if jailbreakers have messed with it. I believe the only logical choices here are either ONE: the firmware on the ipod touch CAN be altered to make it inoperable, or TWO: There is a specific hardware malfunction that results in this symptom. It would be nice if someone knows for sure one way or the other. I am too far from a dealer to plug it in for analysis. I am in Cedar Rapids Iowa and to my knowledge the closest hookup is DesMoines, about 120miles.Thanks, you brought up an interesting subject---exactly WHAT happens when the battery is completely drained? And what's the best way to drain it? Do you usually HAVE to do a restore after a dead batt? If so, maybe this is the solution. because it seems to think it has booted properly, and yet it won't continue past "connect to Itunes screen, then it soon goes into hybertation and power save just like normal. Is ALL memory taken out of the device, like draining a cmos on a desktop, I have been contemplating draining the bat just like holding in the power button to drain a cmos. The only other logic that makes sense is the usb interface (as you mentioned, "iPod is not immune to hardware problems") I bought TWO new cables, to no avail. MAYBE it is a mechanical connection issue and not a software one, I guess I'll try that too.
edit: sorry, missed this in your suggestion...as mentioned here, it does NOT stay on, but goes into power save so batt won't drain that way. -
IPod Shuffle not recognized on Mac or PC - Help!
So a freind of mine asked me to fix his iPod shuffle. He tried to fix it himself by plugging it into his Windoze PC and formatting it like a hard drive. I explained to him that it probably wasn't a great idea but at any rate, here we are.
I have access to a Mac Mini, and a PC both with the latest version of iTunes and the iPod Updater.
When I plug the iPod shuffle into either the Mac or the PC, it does not show up at all. It does show up in the Device manager of Windows as a Disk Drive but it's not accessible. It proceeds to peg the CPU at 100% and thoroughly bog down the PC. When I plug it into the Mac Mini, and run the iPod Updater, it tells me to "Plug in an iPod to update it." Problem is, the iPod is plugged in. This happens both on Windows and PC when I run the iPod updater.
Does anybody have any idea on what I should do to fix the iPod? I must admit, I've only had the Mac Mini for 1 day and my previous experience with the Mac OS was OS 8.6 on a 6400 so be nice :P.
Thanks in advance,

Ipod is not recognized by computer or itunes and does not charge
Hi, so for a few months I've been having a problem with my iPod Touch 4th gen where when i connect the ipod to the computer it does not connect. My Computer says "USB device not recognized" and also I've recognized that my ipod doesnt charge either. When I connect it to a wall charger the ipod charges fine, but i can't sync anything or any music. I have no idea how to fix this problem :\

reinstalled my windows operating system and decided to put on windows 8. After loading all of my music back into a freshly installed itunes, my 4th gen ipod is not recognized by itunes. My 1st gen ipod nano works with no problem. I can eliminate any problems with the cable and connection.
I've stopped and started the service, and also have performed cold reboots.
Nothing seems to have helped the situation.

my ipod is not recognized by my itunes and tells me to uninstall itunes and reinstall it. will this erase all of my music?
Hi braddyloopy,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes, your music files should not be erased or affected in any way. It is always a good idea to back up your data before making any changes to your computer, though.
If you'd like to locate your music, this article explains how to find the files:
Where are my iTunes files located?

When you reinstall iTunes, I'd recommend using the method in this article to make sure it's reinstalled completely:

IPod Not Recognized and Can't Restore
hello,
Since I installed Tiger, my iPod is not recognized by iTunes--I get an error message saying the iPod is there, but iTunes can't identify it and to install the Optional Support Software that came with Tiger. I have installed the optional software, but the same error keeps appearing. Since I can't get the iPod in the source list, I can't restore it to start again. I have the latest version of iTunes. Can anyone help?
Thanks.
lsbHello,
I posted this question initially and have managed to resolve my problem. What I realized is that my iPod problem did not seem to be related to the iPod, but rather to the USB port. I did everything everyone suggested, including resetting, changing USB ports; however, my keyboard and mouse still worked. Then I realized that my external drives were not being recognized, so I restarted the machine with the drive in the port and they were recognized. I then tried the same with my iPod and it worked--first, I was able to update the software, and then I restarted again and the device was recognized and synced.
I'm not sure why the USB port will not recognize the iPod or drives unless the computer restarts, but it's worth trying to see if this resolves anyone else's problem.
