I then checked for updates. I downloaded the latest itunes and now my ipod isn't h aeven recognized on my computer or itunes. • Brand new iPod Touch - not recognized by my computer or iTunes

I just purchased an iPod Touch today and it isn't showing up in My Computer or iTunes. My USB port is working because it recognizes other devises. I checked my USB port in Device Manager and it says Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller. I even uninstalled iTunes and installed it again. I'm just sick ... I have read everything I can find that might work, but nothing does.
If anyone has a suggestion for me, I would really appreciate it.
    Martha

Thanks, Alex. The link you gave me says that there should be a Apple device listed with my USB's and it is not. I did find the driver USBAAPL.SYS in the Windows\System32 folder\drivers. Should it be somewhere else to work??? The Mobile Device Service is there and is started. I am completely iPod ignorant, but I did have a shuffle sometime back that worked just fine.
I appreciate your help. If you have any other advice, I would appreciate it.

  • IPod is not recognized by my computer or iTunes

I got an iPod nano as a present, but it's not working. iTunes doesn't recognize it and neither does my computer. When I plugged the iPod in, Winamp asked me, if I want it to sync with the device and I clicked yes, but after that it hasn't shown the iPod anywhere. My USB portals are 2.0, so they should provide enough energy. I went through this http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136 but I couldn't go on with the solution, because there is no iPod or Mass Storage Device to be clicked on. Same with the drive letter changing, it didn't show the iPod as a device so I could change the letter.
I'm getting pretty desperate now. Some help, please?

Well, a few days ago my computer actually recognized my iPod - both iTunes and Winamp. After a while, though, iTunes lost the connection. Winamp lost it too, but after I deleted iTunes from my computer, it recognized my Pod again. I tried to sync Winamp with my iPod and Winamp said it was transferring music to my Pod, but after the "transfer" my Pod was still empty. I tried several times.
I cleaned up my library in Winamp and tried again the next day - nothing. No recognition any more.
And, as I've already said, my computer doesn't recognize my iPod as a drive. It's like my Pod isn't even connected, it doesn't show up anywhere. And yes, I've plugged my iPod to both 2.0 USB ports in my computer.
How do I restore my iPod then? I looked at the link you gave, but I guess I couldn't figure it out properly.

  • My iPod classic is not recognized by my computer or iTunes

My iPod is not recognized by my computer or iTunes. It worked fine a few months ago but now it doesn't even sync. I tried everything from turning it on/off, reinstalling iTunes, checking the connectivity issues and etc. After going through the connectivity test the only thing I found odd was that it said that the iPod classic running firmware 1.1.2 is not connected. Could that be the issue? And if so, how can I get that firmware running again?

I have the same issue with my ipod classic, and have gone through these steps. However, when i come to the step where it says to reinstall: "
Next, open the new version of iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer.
Select your iPod in the source list and click "Check for Update" under the Summary tab.   iTunes will check to see if your iPod needs to be updated and perform the update for you. "
there is no ipod listed in the source list to check for any updates under the summary tab. Itunes just DOES NOT see the ipod at all. And this is where I am stuck....further instructions PLEASE!!! Thank you....

  • Ipod nano and shuffle are not recognized by my computer or itunes

When I plug in the ipod, both the nano 6th generation and the shuffle, the device is not recognized by my computer or itunes.  It will be recognized by my computer for a few seconds and then disappears.  The device will show up on the right side of the screen in itunes but not on the left.  The troubleshooter tells me it is a compatability issue.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, i have turned off the compatabilty mode, nothing works.

What displays on the iPods screen when you have it connected?  I assume you have tried another known working USB cable?
Is iTunes up do date on your PC (currently at 10.7)?
Have you tried connecting to another PC or Mac?

  • TS1410 my ipod is not recognized by my computer

my ipod is not recognized by my computer?

I realize this question is six months old, but just in case this helps someone. My PC suddenly decided not to recognize my IPod. I jumped through all the hoops for 24 hours trying all the suggestions and then just sat and took inventory of everything notable that was different from the last time I had synched it (a year earlier). I'd finally freed myself of Norton and installed Avast and several sites mentioned that as a possibility but no. In the end it was the new HP Officejet Pro 8600 software. I did a custom install and opted for the USB rather than wireless hookup. First off it took my old Canon scanner hostage and choked it into retirement. Then it started fondling Photoshop and searching for images in every file it could access. But the best trick was that it will just not let you synch your IPod for love nor money. Now I am a dinosaur and still use XP but I'm pretty sure the same thing happens with Windows 7. Fortunately, the fix is easy enough ***doink***, yank the printer's USB cable out of your PC and everything is fine.
Just posted this in the hope I can save somebody else a day's worth of cursing and hair tearing...PB

  • My ipod is not recognized by my computer

Help! My ipod is not recognized by my computer. I cant restore it or download on it. It was working fine until yesterday.

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
    Still no joy, see these.

  • Help.. brand new Ipod 80gb not being recognised by Computer or itunes

Replaced a ipod mini that was stolen from my house with a brand new 80gb ipod. Plugged it into the same computer that had been used successfully with the mini and the ipod will not be seen by either the computer or itunes. It will charge through the usb post no problem but when you plug it in it originally came up with the windows new hardware wizard, as apple have for some misguided reason stopped supplying CD's, the wizard can not find the correct driver, and fails to install. When Itunes is running nothing appears. I have been through the 5 R's, or should I say 4 r's as the fifth rely's on itunes recognizing the ipod before you can restore, countless time, so please unless you are sure don't ask me to click the hold button on and off yet again.
Plugged the ipod into an old laptop with USB 1.0 ports and the ipod was recognized which would suggest it is my main comp's usb ports that are at fault, but as two previous ipod mini's worked without fault I find this hard to believe. I think if only I had the correct driver to install I could solve this problem easily. Can anyone send me the correct driver for an 80gb ipod.
It hopefully goes without saying that I have downloaded the latest itunes software and gone through all the post's on the this site. I thought I'd cracked it with the UBSSORT file post but it was not to be....to tell you the truth if it's this complicated I'd rather send it back and buy a sony mp3 or even an ipod nano. At my wits end so please help Obi one, your my only hope
