My iPod is not syncing with my iTunes, what can I do?

My iPod touch will charge on my computer but it isn't being recognized in My Computer (PC) and it won't appear as a Device in my iTunes. What can I do?

  • I accidentally deleted my whole i tune library. I was able to retrieve the entire library, but all my play lists have dissapeared and iTunes says that my ipod is not synced with this computer. Can i sync my playlists from my ipod to my itunes?

i accadentally deleted my entire library (over 10,000 song) when i was trying to delete an old back up file off an external hard drive. Now when i open I Tunes and connect my ipod, a message says tht my ipod is not synced with this computer. This is the only computer this ipod has ever been synced to, so i don't know how to reconnect the two. I was able to restore all my music to the itunes library, but I lost all my playlists. I spent considerable time creating the playlists and they are stll on my ipod. Can I somehow sync in a way that my ipod can give the computer my play lists?

With your iPod connected to iTunes right->click on it's device name in the left hand pane of iTunes under devices and select Export Playlists.

  • IPod will not sync with my iTunes

Hopefully someone can help me with this. I just synced my iPod classic 80GB to my iTunes and it only gets to about the 80th song when the iPod stops syncing with iTunes but iTunes is still syncing with the iPod. I then get a message saying that The disk write has failed and it could not be saved. It then wipes my iPod of everything on it and crashes my iTunes everytime. I have restarted it and restored it many times and still the same problem persists. If anyone can help me I would be very grateful.

    Hello El Bido,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
I would run an error-check on the iPod's hard disk using the tools provided by windows. To do this, open up "My Computer" and locate your iPod's icon. You may have to enable disk use on the iPod from under the Summary tab in iTunes for your iPod.
From there, right-click on it and choose "Properties" from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Tools tab. At the top there should be a section on error checking. Go ahead and click "Check now" and make sure you put a check mark next to "fix file system errors" as well as "look for and attempt to recover bad sectors" (something along those lines). Then wait for the process to finish.
It might then be a good idea to also reformat the iPod. Instructions on how to do that can be found in this article.

See if any of that helps.

  • My iPod does not sync with my iTunes.

All of a sudden when I try to sync my iPod classic with my MacBook Air the iPod doesn't sync. I get the do not disconnect message, but the iPod doesn't mount as a device in iTunes. The iPod icon does show up on the desktop. I have tried all the suggested solutions on the Apple support page (reset, reload iTunes, etc.). Didn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have an even older iPod that started doing the same thing occasionally. It may be that you have some bad sectors on your iPod hard drive. If you can get the iPod to mount in iTunes, you should do a complete restore. If it will not mount in iTunes you should try this:
    Unmount the iPod from desktop.
    Close iTunes.
Reconnect iPod. If iTunes does not open, great, go to next step. If iTunes opens, but iPod does not mount in      iTunes, close iTunes.
Open disk utility. Click on iPod volume, then choose erase tab.
    Choose Mac Os extended.
Ignore the warning that iPod won't work. You are basically reinitializing and reformating the hard drive.
After drive is erased/reformated, unmount the iPod.
    Open iTunes
Reconnect the iPod. It should now ask you if you want to install iTunes, etc, etc. and you should be able to      restore all your tunes.

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?

  • Ever since I updated iTunes my iPods will not sync with my cars

Ever since I updated iTunes my iPods will not sync with my cars.I have a 30g and 60g 5th gen iPods that I use in my two car. In my cars I have a dealer installed integration module so that I can navigate my I pods play list artist and song titles using the radio itself. Ever since that last iTunes update 7.3.1. I no longer am able to use this feature. I used my sister’s 30g iPod that she did has not updated and the system works fine. Can someone help me with this problem.

I have had an Alpine head unit in my car with the ipod connection for about a year and it has worked fine until recently. Now I get an error message on the ipod that reads, "The currently attached accessory is not supported by this ipod." I have tried connecting a buddy's ipod to my car stereo, and his still works fine with it. I've done the 5 R's, tried going back to an older version of itunes as Alpine suggested. My next step will be going to the Apple store with an appointment, seeing what they say.

  • Playlists disappeared, and now ipods will not sync with itunes

One day while my itunes was playing music, it all of a sudden froze, so I eventually had to restart my computer (macbook pro). When I relaunched itunes, all my music was gone. It started adding back all my files (including songs I had deleted a while back), but all my playlists are gone. Today I plugged in my ipod to sync music, hoping that I could also somehow bring the playlists on my ipod back to itunes, but a window popped up and said that the ipod was synced with a different itunes and I either have to erase all ipod contents and sync with new itunes, or cancel.
Has anyone had this problem? Any advice on how to get playlists back or do I just need to now erase all contents on my ipods/ iphone and sync with this new itunes?
