My iPod is possessed!

Here's the deal: I tried syncing my iPod up with some new music on my Mac. That worked alright. However, to backup my music I use an iPod manager on my Windows XP machine. While trying to transfer, my iPod disconnected itself. After I unplugged the iPod, it was frozen in the "Do Not Disconnect" screen. I waited a minute or two before I manually restarted it (Menu and Select button was all that worked). Now it's in an endless loop. The iPod loads up to the Apple Icon screen. It lingers there for a while, then shuts off. Then it starts all over again. It has really tested my hand-eye coordination and timing to shut it off and switch on Hold so it stays off. The first time I actually got it to stay off, I started it up again and it did it again. Any suggestions?

No one helped with this question, or really even bothered trying to help. I eventually found the solution, which was a simple procedure which was buried in the website. It's frustrating to me that I didn't even receive such simplistic advice or even an idea of how I could fix my problem.

  • My iPod is possessed by the Devil (seriously)

I need exorcism advice. It would freeze. The battery drains right after charging then when reset a few minutes later is full green. Sometimes its just on 0:00 and the songs don't start.
Then the sound comes only out of the right ear and then just the left ear and now no sound at all.
My 14 yr old nephew went to settings and saw that it didn't recognize the headphones and there were some failure messages.
It hasn't barfed yet but I wonder if anyone had any ideas before I have to spring for a new one... because tuneless is depressing Thanks...

I think I've fixed this. I think the problem was that the ipod had updated itself but I was still using itunes 7.1. When i updated to 7.2, i could copy all my purchased music to my shuffle. Some of the new features on the ipod sw aren't incorperated for the 1st generation, but everything is working.

  • My Ipod is possessed .. please help me!!!

No I haven't gone mad - my ipod mini has developed a mind of its own over night
It keeps randomly flashing and clicking (like someone is turning the wheel)
It also wont turn off no matter how many times I try.
Its only 8 months old and i've had no problems before - it just seems to have happened overnight.
Please help me as its driving me up the wall clicking and flashing - I will end up throwing it out the window soon!
If you could suggest anything which might help I would be super grateful.
    Many thanks,
    Michelle :o)

Sounds like the software's gone haywire. Try restoring your ipod to factory settings. It fixes a world of weirdness.

  • 5th gen Ipod won't work on an airplane

Sounds bizzare, but it has happened twice to me in the past 2 weeks. Unit works fine on the ground. Works fine in the plane before we have to shut down all electronic devices. Get above 10K feet, and get the message that it is OK to use electronic devices, and my Ipod will not work. Just keep getting the darn triangle error message. Plane lands - all is fine again.... Pressurization issue, or is my Ipod just possessed?....

  • DEAD APPLE  PLEASE HELP

I have a 60g color screen and the darn thing freezes about once a month. For no reason...It's a ritual toggle, reset, reload etc...this time I used my IPOD noticed that the music sounded scratchy figured it was time for a new update which is part of the ritual with this special apple or could it be that it was about ready to crash again....turned it off with a little difficulty, so I definitely knew this apple was headed into crashing mode, just call it woman's intuition. I charged the ipod and viola the next day it was dead!
I've tried the ritual toggled, hook up to the PC, hook up to my other PC changed out USB cords and still nothing. PC doesn't recognize it, toggle push the buttons does nothing. I have tried everything that is instructed including the two handed technique with a toggle. This IPOD has been a real disappointment.
For now all I want is to reset this pricey apple and try to hear some tunes. Is there anyone out there that can HELP ME with this lemon of an apple.
    THANKS!!

After one week of my ipod not working. I had charged it and tried to reset it, restore it and nothing worked. I talked to a technician who informed me that the battery was dead and I needed to send it in to the company for a replacement battery Oh well....new ipod or new battery hmmmmm....throw more money after bad money
I decided on the cheapest route new battery.... I went to box up my ipod and low and behold a very faint apple appears on the screen then it turned to a low battery signal. I charged the ipod without ANY problems and it is working just fine.
All I can figure is that this IPOD is possessed....
Stay tuned...maybe next time the apple will start spinning.

  • Iphone 3GS problems with reception, freezes, bugs, SIM Card

I have an all legit iPhone 3GS 32GB I bought last October in the Netherlands together with my subscription to T-Mobile. Everything went perfect until about 3 weeks ago when my iPhone would loose network connection, stay in "Searching..." limbo forever and end-up with "No Service". I tried everything from resetting my iPhone, my settings, to taking in and out my SIM card, to updating it with iTunes etc… It works for a while if I leave it on “Edge” without activation its 3G. But then, out of nowhere, it will ask me to unlock my SIM card, will freeze and stutter while I’m doing so. I would wait for some time before my iPhone will resume normal service (albeit still on “Edge”), by itself, and repeat this nightmare all over again the next day. I can also find it running iPod all by itself even though the iPhone is on sleep. This iPod "demonic possession" is generally a precursor of troubles to come.
Is my love affair with the iPhone coming to a very sad end? Or can somebody save our relationship? Please help!

The insurance company is coming today to pick up my iPhone. They will give me a non-iPhone "smart phone" as replacement for the 6 weeks it will take for the "repair". This is what I'm reduced to. If the iPhone comes back defective, I'm planning to just smash it with my bear hands and buy a Nokia or BB or sthg.
I hate that repair stuff. It's should work fine though. Make sure they really fix it.

  • Ipod touch acting possessed! Almost like a virus. Auto selects letters, apps, etc. Doesnt let me slide bar until 4th attempt of more.

My Ipod has been acting funny. First, I have a hard time using the slide bar to get into the first page. After 5 tries it lets me slide and enter. Then the ipod auto selections apps such as 'notes' app and will type random letters without me touching screen. Then if I try typing it will let me type most letters except 'n' and 'o' I have tried resetting and system restore to old backup as well as to new ipod. Nothing working.

  • My Ipod Clasic is no longer working and I do not know why.

I have a 120gb Ipod classic that a friend gave me after purchasing an Ipod touch. I have had it in my possession for almost a year now and have not had a problem up until recently. I would be listening to a podcast or a song and it would randomly jump to either a farther part in the podcast or jump to a different song. I tried the 5 R's and they did not work.I restored the Ipod assuming it would fix the problem, but I was wrong. Now when I plug my Ipod into my computer it says there is a problem with my device and performs a can. The scan comes back with no issues found. Then in Itunes I am told it does not recognize my device and I need to restore it. When I go to restore the Ipod it then says it can not be restored.
Is there anyway to fix this or should I just ditch this one and invest in a new device all together?

  • My iPod has a mind of its own. When it doesn't want to play, it stops.

I am on my 2nd iPod in 5 months. The first was replaced b/c of defective video. No prob. The replacement has been plagued with frequent but random episodes of simply pausing. The iPod will be playing just fine and dandy, at perfect rest on the table or bed or at my desk at work, when all of a sudden it just stops playing, and I have to un-pause it so that it starts playing again. How often does this occur? It is completely unpredictable, completely random, without neither rhyme nor reason. Sometimes it will pause, I'll start it again only to have it pause a couple of seconds later. Sometimes I go through this routine two or three times in a row within a matter of 15 seconds. Sometimes it only pauses once per day. Sometimes it pauses 5, 10, maybe 15 times a day. Conversely, some days it never pauses.
I sent the iPod in after putting up with extreme inconvenience but only after I performed everything known to resolve such issues: restoring, updating, testing out particular songs, changing out headsets frequently and other troubleshooting exercises ad nauseam. I received the iPod back with the indication that "no problems were found," and the replacement unit I sent in was sent back to me. The only thing Apple Support did was to restore it, which I have already done twice. The darn thing still does exactly what it has been doing... pausing at will as often as it pretty well pleases.
I'm getting quite ill with this thing, and it doesn't help that they sent the original one back (again, my replacement iPod was sent back). I quite understand why the support team indicated that it passed diagnostics, but it is only because the device chose not to act up when they had it in their possession. It is perfectly logical that it worked flawlessly while they were testing it, only to start freaking out once it arrived back home. This scenario is liken unto the one in which you take your car to the mechanic b/c it's not working properly. It works when they have it in their shop... works as designed, but when you get it home (or drive it down the road) it starts doing the same thing. It's a gremlin that seems to be quite elusive.
I'm posting this in hopes that others have experienced the same thing, and I can learn from their experience. I'll send this thing again, but if the device still continues to operate, in Apple Support's words, "within Apple's specifications for acceptable performance, usability and/or functionality...", I'll raise this issue to ANYONE who will listen. I purchased the warranty and I would expect that Apple stand behind it, or what good is a warranty if it will not be upheld?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • How can the album-art, which is all in iTunes , suddenly only shows partially on the iPod classic 160 gb?

I'm user of iTunes for years and in possession of 2 iPod classics.
For both iPods I have a specific playlist created, which I sync with iTunes. Each of my nearly 50,000 tracks in iTunes comes with the right Album-art (all 500 x 500 pixels and 72 dpi) andeach track contains also the necessary meta data and is converted to 160 or 192 kbps  M4a. In Finder on my MacBook I can see that the M4a files all contain album-art, because the file icons show the album art for each file name! Also in the grid overview of iTunes you can see them all, no exception.
For years that went well. Now,  a week ago, I made a new playlist (16,000 tracks) for one of my iPod classics because I wanted a different content! The old playlist I discarded and synchronized the new one.  Now it appears that a large number of album-art on the iPod is not shown, nor in cover-flow nor during play-back. I then tried to get my new playlist updated by exported as XML and then imported into iTunes again. In that case all tracks from the list are checked for completeness against the library and after import it should be fine. Unfortunately, it is not the case. Still the album-art is not shown for all tracks/albums on the iPod.
I run iTunes (11.2.2 (3)) on a MacBook Pro at the end of 2009, with the latest OSX version (10.9.3) and with enough disk space and memory.
My iTunes library is on a NAS (Synodisk DS209J II plus) the iPods run on the latest sw version (1.1.2) and are both Apple formatted.
I wonder if this is an iPod error or something wrong with the library. I hope you will understand, that I do not want to lose all the metadata of the 50,000 tracks by rebuilding the library, especially things like: date added, number of times played, rating, comments!
I hope someone can provide me an acceptable solution.
    With regards, Sign-X

I'm a bit confused, but I assume you want to shuffle your playlist while you are playing it in iTunes. If this is so, you will actually have to start playing a song before the shuffle button appears, and it appears in the top center panel of your iTunes window. Yeah, I know...
