My ipod is recognized in itunes but it doesnt not respond 2 uploads

My ipod is recognized by my computer and the itunes sidebar but it doesnt upload songs that are in my library into the ipod itself. I've tried uninstalling the itunes program and reinstalling it but it doesnt work. i've also restored my ipod but that didn't work either. please help me i haven't been able to figure it out for a while!! is there any way i can fix it, or should i take it to the ipod store??

Is the iPod connected to the same computer you normally sync it with or is this a new/different iTunes library?
If it's a different computer, that would explain the problem as an iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. If you want to connect the iPod with a new/different iTunes library, you must restore the iPod to factory settings first to associate the iPod with the new library.
If it's the same computer, are you sure you don't have your iPod configured for manual management.  In other words, is the Manually manage music option enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab?\

  • IPod Touch recognized by iTunes, but not Vista

I've recently re-installed vista and now I have a recognition issue. When connecting the ipod for the first time since the re-install it does the usual "new hardware found" and tells me that the ipod is ready for use only it won't show in My Computer, or in the list of devices I can safely remove. iTunes recognizes it, and so does Device Manager, which is odd. Whenever I connect the iPod windows makes the usual device connected sound, but it never shows in My Computer which means that other media programs I might want to use to transfer music to and from the iPod won't recognize it either. I've gone through the steps for the usual "not recognized by iTunes" and "recognized as a camera" troubleshooting since my problem doesn't seem to be as common as those. So far I've got no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

You need to install iTunes in order to install the necessary drivers.

  • IPod classic recognized by iTunes, but does not sync properly...

When I sync (automatically or manually, I've tried both) my 160gb iPod on iTunes, the iPod says "Syncing" for a few moments before changing to "connected" (as if it were done syncing). My iTunes shows that the iPod is syncing, yet nothing happens.
I have reset my iPod, and restarted my notebook, but this problem seems to persist. I have not restored my iPod and/or removed iTunes and reloaded it, as both of these take significant time.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would go the restore route myself. Shouldn't take super long. Ya not quick, but sure beats not being able to sync it at all.
    Cheers,

  • IPod touch found in iTunes but it will not sync. Please help.

I got a new (factory refurbished) 32gb 4th gen Touch to replace my 1st gen. iTunes finds it but will not sync to it. I've tried to reset (restore) the device as well as the PC its connecting to with no different results. Even did a Windows system restore to before the iTunes update (but it did not revert to older version of iTunes) and the outcome was still that the device will not sync. Both have the newest versions of software. The Apply button stays grey once changes are made (revert is enabled) and the sync option is grey in the summary screen and in the file drop down menu. I've ran the sync and connection diagnostic a half dozen times and every time it says the device is connected and able to sync. I've enabled all device helpers with iTunes and disabled both my firewall and my antivirus but still nothing works.

Yes that is what I meant. I restored or reset to factory setting/new iPod. It was already that way from the factory refurbish but I did try it. In fact I tried doing it both from the device itself and via iTunes, multiple times. No luck. Any other suggestions would be most welcome though, as I certainly may have overlooked something simple and or obvious to those more knowledgeable such are yourself.
Further info: I had a problem sync'ing my 1st gen about 2 weeks ago but it resolved when I disabled my antivirus and firewalls. Not sure if that really had any impact on the whole process but it was doing something very simular to this only then it was that it wouldn't detect the device. So I rebooted my PC and disabled my virus protection and firewalls and then plugged in the device and iTunes found it and sync'ed to it. Tried all that this time and no luck. I wanted to make sure all my apps and songs were on my PC so that when I got my new 4th gen I could get them all over to that (easily I had hoped). After that sync finally worked I updated to newest version of iTunes. Now with the new 4th gen it detects it fine but no sync.
Very frustrated and any help will be much appreciated!

  • IPod is recognized by iTunes but songs won't show up on device

I bought a brand new 32gb ipod touch 5th generation last weekend. I put about 8gb of music onto it. the music displayed under the "on my device" section of my ipod in itunes however when i disconnected my ipod the only songs on it were ones that were purchased through itunes. I contacted apple support twice and both times was told to restore my device and put everything back on again. the second time the process worked by syncing only certain artists/albums but not with single songs.
when i finally got it to sync (after a total of 8 hours wasted and 35gb of music added and removed after 2 full resets) some of the album art doesnt show, the song titles/artists don’t show up, it plays the wrong songs. all my music is tagged correctly and i cant figure out why this won't work. all the songs i added show up as "unknown title/unknown artist" yet when i click them they all play songs with titles and artists
i dont know why i cant just drag and drop songs like every other ipod i’ve ever had (a total of 5 over the years). if anyone can help me with this i'd really appreciate it. I've wasted so much time on this and apple chat support is broken right now

  • IPod Classic recognized by iTunes, but won't sync? (Windows 8)

iTunes recognizes it and I can go to the menu that displays the filled memory, options (enables disk use, sync only checked songs, etc.), and "sync" button. The iPod screen says that it is connected and charging, and it does not freeze. The computer doesn't have any issues; iTunes (11.0.0.163) doesn't crash or anything.
Everything seems fine, but when I click the "sync" button, nothing happens. I tried changing some settings and hitting "apply" instead to sync it, but that doesn't work either.
My computer is running Windows 8, and I've heard that some people have been having problems with using iTunes on this operating system. The only solution I've found is to make sure disk use is enabled, but that hasn't worked for me (it seems to only apply to newer models of iPod, not my Classic). I honestly don't know what I'll do if Windows 8 is incompatible with Classics because I just spent a lot of money on the iPod and this is the only computer I can use!
I'd love some help with this. Solutions are preferable of course, but even if you can just identify whether this is a problem with me/my computer or with Apple vs Windows, it'd be much appreciated! Thanks

What seems to have worked is checking "manually manage music and videos" and dragging all my music onto my iPod, instead of just letting the normal iTunes sync work.
I'm still upset about this, but as long as I can SOMEHOW get music on my iPod, I can wait until Apple fixes this problem. Which they better do.

  • IPod shuffle  recognized by iTunes but can't get downloaded audio courses into iTunes and onto shuffle.

When iPod shuffle is plugged in and I go to Computer, it doesn't always show up, so maybe there is a loose connection. I jiggle it and try different things and it shows up temporarily then goes again. But the biggest problem is that I get a message saying  Please Insert a Disk into Removable Disk (E:)  Also, I am trying to download audio courses I bought into iTunes then onto iPod. Never had this problem before. Have downloaded with no trouble before..

I can't help with the connection issues, because that sounds like a hardware problem.
    For the iTunes-related problem
    Never had this problem before.
that sounds like it may be not seeing the sidebar (along left side of window), because the latest iTunes hides the sidebar initially.  To show the sidebar, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
With the sidebar visible, iTunes (mostly) works like it did before version 11.x.  Hopefully, you'll see what you need to do...

  • IPod touch recognized by iTunes but not my PC??

It hasn't always been this way...and I quite frankly haven't the slightest clue why suddenly my iPod is not recognized by my computer and also my xbox 360 as well. I can still manage my library and all that from iTunes though...weird.

unless they have saved photos on them. (ones obtained on the ipod rather than ones that have been synced from a computer)

  • ITouch is recognized by iTunes, but won't sync correctly.

Howdy. So, yeah. My ex-boyfriend was trying to make my computer run faster, whom I should never have let touch the thing in the first place, and he ended up deleting my previous computer identity. I still have all my music and freely redownloaded what I was missing. However, when I went to sync, I ran into a problem. My iPod was recognized by iTunes, but when I tried to sync, it just said starting sync for hours, and wouldn't advance after that. It wasn't frozen, because I was able to stop the sync whenever I wanted. So I reinstalled iTunes and I've updated it to the new thing, the 10.1.2... I think that's it. Now my iPod advances past starting sync and goes to preparing sync (step 1 of 1), and then stops and tells me it's ok to unplug it. It didn't transfer or change anything in my iPod. I have the 3rd gen iPod Touch with the 4th gen software downloaded onto it. My computer is a Windows XP. Any and all help is appreciated.

A couple of things to check:
Are there any backups listed in iTunes/settings/devices? Since backing up is the first step of the sync process, iTunes might be stuck trying to read the content of the last backup in order to replace it with the new one.
Copy the whole backup folder to a safe place, delete the backup from the list afterwards and make sure that the folder has no content after that. The folder is located here:
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files
After that, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose "backup". If you can backup manually, transfer your purchases the same way, to copy apps and purchased media to your iTunes. If this worked, you should be able to sync again.
To speed up the sync process, copy your photos to your computer prior to the sync and delete them on your ipod before you start.

  • IPod is recognized by iTunes and computer, but wil not sync songs

iPod is recognized by iTunes and computer, but wil not sync songs. I have about 1400 songs and just got 40 more, and before I bought those 40 my iTunes was wiped out. I still had the files so my iTunes was filled up again. Now, when I connect my iPod to the computer it is recognized and then it says "do not disconnect" then after a few seconds it says "ipod update is complete- ok to disconnect". but it did not upload any songs. How can I make it work?

If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
    -- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
-- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
-- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
    -- Safely eject the iPod
    -- Reboot the PC
Then restore your iPod to factory settings.

    Additional Information
In rare circumstances, your device may be recognized after reinstalling iTunes, but after you restart your Mac, the device may not be recognized again. If this happens, and you are using Mac OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard), please follow the steps in this article.
The link you provided is confusing since the first line give you the link for Windows and second for a Mac.

  • HT1369 Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed and mobile programs associated with my non apple cellpho

Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed any mobile programs associated with my non apple cellphone. This seems to have started happening after the last Itunes update I did as I was able to put music on my ipod touch a month or so ago. Is there some way to go back to an older version of itunes? I really have no idea what else to do since I followed every step on the trouble shooting page for windows 8.

I had this problem too and my roommate solved it!
    Go to 'Settings'
    'Music'
Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync!
