    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • TS3474 ipod nano shows an responsive black screen

After reading a couple of articles regarding my problem, it seems like my ipod nano screen is basically dead and it doesn't respond to at all. I tried to connect it to my computer and I saw the icon on my desktop and it also appeared on my itunes as if it is OK. Everything seems normal except for the ipod screen. So I tried to reset through the computer and also manually by holding - and sleep/wake buttons. On my computer, it appeared that the device is being restored to factory settings.
I still want to know if it is just a screen? or it could be some software that needs to be reinstalled by Apple genius? Could this be a defective product from the factory?
    Regards,
    Ibrahim

The answer hasn't changed since June. Your iPod is not supportable here or by Apple since you attempted to repair it yourself.
Look for advice someplace like ifixit.com, find a competent 3rd party repair shop, or buy a new one.

  • Fullscreen Mode shows blank black screen..

    Hi,
I am panorama photographer and usually show my panos on FPP (Flash panorama player).
I want to show .flv movie on inside the panorama but there were some problems with fullscreen
mode. -> When I click on the panorama fullscreen button, the flash movie turns fullscreen
    instead of the panorama.
My workaround is laying an iframe (in which the flash movie is inserted) on the <div> layer.
At first it seemed to be working OK but the problem is that once I click on the "movie" button,
the panorama's fullscreen mode just show black blank screen.
    -> "Movie" Button
You can check my pano at:
    http://www.panosis.com/biz/ubertree/movie_test/openvr.html
Try  to see the panorama in fullscreen mode before watching the movie, it will work fine.
But turning the panorama in fullscreen mode after watching the movie shows just
blank black screen and I guess this might have something to do with HTML layer
    or iframe?
Does anybody have a clue what the problem is?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Luckey,
One option that I do want to try, is booting the computer into safe mode. I have included the steps here for you to follow: (steps obtained from 'Windows 7 Safe Mode')
Entering Safe Mode at start up
Use the following steps to start Windows 7 in Safe Mode when the computer is off:
1)Turn on the computer and immediately begin pressing the F8 key repeatedly.
2)From the Windows Advanced Options Menu, use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode, and press  ENTER.
** The computer will automatically exit Safe Mode when it is shut down. **
Once you are able to access safe mode. Try to access your Device Manager. I have included the document 'How Do I Access Device Manager in Windows?'. Please click on your operating system, and open Device Manager. Once the Device Manager window is open, please follow these steps.
    1) Click the plus sign beside keyboard
    2) Right click on the device in this section
    3) Click uninstall
    4) Click the plus sign beside Mice and other pointing devices
    5) Right click on the device in this section
    6) Click uninstall
Once these steps have been completed, please shut down the computer completely and restart. Please let me know if you are able to fully use the keyboard and mouse after. Thank you.

    See the not-charging topic of:

    Have you tried another cable?
Another charging source? Does iTunes see the iPod when you connect to your computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.

  • IOS app rejected due to a blank, black screen upon launch

I recently got my iPhone app rejected and the reason is below:
"We found that your app exhibited one or more bugs, when reviewed on iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.3, on both Wi-Fi and cellular networks, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.
Specifically, the app displayed a blank, black screen upon launch. Please see the attached screenshot/s for more information.
    The steps to reproduce are:
    1. Launch app
    2. Bug encountered"
I use FlashDevelop and the latest Apache Flex + Air SDK 3.7 + swfversion=20. I don't have an iPhone 5 to test on but I've tested the application on a 3GS, iPod touch (4th gen.) on IOS 4.3, 5.1 and 6.1.3 (latest) and the application works on all of them.
The attached screenshot mentioned above is here:
the "blank" screen is actually a deep blue one, which the color I've set to my project's background.
I didn't make any special modifications in the code to support iPhone 5 to be honest, and the project dimensions were set to 640x960, but I did include the [email protected], and it shows inside the .ipa at Payload/Myapp.app/
In almost all the iPhone 5 discussions I've read online, theat launch problem is due to the [email protected] not being there in the root of the release .ipa, but I'm sure it does exist on my ipa. Also, I have request high resolution set to high, and the Info.plist has the correct DTPlatformVersion (6.0) and DTSDKName (iphoneos6.0).
Any ideas what the problem could be?
    Thanks.

Remember - they gave you a very specific device and version. It might be working on all other configurations. So if you are unable to get your hands on that device and version you are going to be left stabbing in the dark as to what is going wrong.
My advice would just be to figure out what's different with that device and make sure everything is configured properly.
Another option - if you don't want this app on the iPad anyway - is to remove it from the configuration:
    <key>UIDeviceFamily</key>
    <array>
              <string>1</string>
              <string>2</string>
    </array>
You would delete the <string>2</string> part.

  • Blank black screen with just mouse pointer after logging in windows 8.1

First of all On starting the system, it was taking much longer time than usual.. Then after logging in it showed only a blank black screen with white mouse pointer.. had to force shut down (shut down also took longer time).. on starting went to safe mode and ran extensive system check.. HARD DRIVE SMART CHECK PASSED but HARD DRIVE SHORT DST CHECK FAILED...I have the recovery discs and the notebook is under warranty..

    Hi
If your hard drive is failing on short DST test then you will need to contact HP in your local region and arrange with HP a repair ( Hard drive replacement )  .  You say your machine is still in Warranty then the cost of shipping and repair will be covered by HP .

Some snaps show up as black screens when I try to view them as single pictures.Even when I run them in slideshows they show up as black screens. These are jpeg files. How can I avoid this happening?

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Blank/Black screen after waking up from sleep mode

    Hi there,
So this is my first time using a macbook. I purchased a macbook pro with retina display in August of this year. I have never had this problem but after i have updated to the new Yosemite OS, my problem keeps happening. I will be using my computer to work on assignments. After, ill put my mac to sleep and close the lid screen. When i come back and turn it on, it shows a bank/black screen. The keyboard lights up but nothing shows on the screen. So i end up close my mac and reopening it again and it still is blank screen. After a few tries opening and closing, i type my login password even when the screen is black. After, i close it again and reopen it and now my screen shows my background and login information. I enter the password and it works fine. I'm not sure if this a problem that needs to be looked at? I have taken care of my computer since day 1 so im not sure why this problem is happening. Any help/input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Hi ellaine,
Lets check your energy saver settings:
About Energy Saver sleep and idle modes in Mac OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2412
Regarding your second question, it may be that your display is set to sleep before the screen saver starts. That would cause the screen saver to never display.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
