    my ipod is stuck on screen lock and i have forgotten number code!any way around this?

    If you use the iPod with more than one computer connect it to the main computer you use it with ( this is the first one it was connected to) and open iTunes. Then disconnect iPod from the computer, it should be unlocked: iPod: How to use the Screen Lock
    If you can't get it unlocked you'll need to restore it. Just be aware that restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings, so if you have songs on your iPod that aren't on iTunes you will lose them if you have no back up. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes

  • Help my ipod still has the screen lock on and the combo wont work

    I was just testing the screen lock thing to see if it would work so i set it to my birthday and then i test it out and it wont work my combo i tired every combo so it said if u forget combo plugg it into ur computer . i plugged it in and now what? i unplugged it and its still locked . wat should i do ?

    Plugging the iPod in to the computer only unlocks it until the next time you opt to lock the screen. It does not get rid of the old code that you no longer know.
    The only way to get rid of the older code and be able to set a new one if desired is to restore the iPod.
    To restore, connect the iPod to the computer, open the iPod updater (Start>All Programs>iPod>iPod Updater) and click restore.
    Restoring will delete all the files off of your Nano, and reset all settings, including the screen lock. It will not however, change anything in your iTunes library, so after completion, simply update your iPod as normal to get your songs back on.
    Then, you are free to set a new screen lock. Hopefully this time it will be one you remember.

    Help!

    Try:
    - Zoom in or out. With Zoom turned on, double-tap the screen with three fingers.
    Try tipple clicking the Home button and then try to unlock the iPod
    Last:
    Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    I just uploaded new songs and am so excited to use it this morning. I was scrolling through and my I Pod is stuck inbetween 2 screens. Very strange. It won't turn off, won't scroll, nothing...! Please help!!!
    Thanks!

    Try Resetting your iPod. Toggle the hold switch off and on a few times then hold down the MENU and SELECT (centre) buttons for five or ten seconds until you see the Apple logo appear then the menu button to go to the normal display: iPod isn't responding it appears to be frozen

  • Ipod nano stuck in hold/lock after first power up

    Attempted the toggle hold switch leaving it in the off position and then holding the menu and play buttons to attempt the reset...but nothing happens. 3rd generation iPOD connects fine via the USB2 port. Also tried to reinstall software, but the NANO is still not recognized by my PC.

    Try resetting a few times. Make sure the hold switch is completely over. Otherwise, you may have a hardware problem. Good luck!

    My ipod is stuck on lock. i switched the lock button back and forth but nothing is happening. i tried restoring my ipod, but that didnt work... and suggestions? 5th generation 30gig

    If you know how the Hold button works, then it should be easily to see if it's fuctioning okay.
    When it(On) it locks the IPOD in it's current state other than the lcd screen operation;
    When it's (Off) it has no effect on the IPOD operation.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
  • Ipod nano stuck on locked
    Help! My 1st gen ipod nano is stuck in the locked position and I can't get it to turn on. I've tried everything, but to no avail. I've toggled the hold switch and tried resetting it, I've connected it to my macbook and updated the ipod as well as restoring it. But the padlock icon is still present. My ipod doesn't turn on at all. And when I connect it to the computer, it is stuck on the language selection screen. I've tried everything. I'm currently traveling overseas, so I can't just pop into an apple store - plus it's out of warranty anyways.
    Any ideas on what I can try? Please help!
    Juiceejuice: I have the exact same problem.. I did the factory restore too, and i think it at least restored because I too am now stuck on the language selection screen. the padlock icon is still on though, and the scroll buttons don't work. Did you get it get it figured out? If so, how?
  • IPod Touch stuck on Apple Logo Screen
    Today, I spilled some water on my iPod touch, but I dried it up right away. Now, however, the iPod is stuck on the apple logo. I've tried holding down the lock and home buttons and the screen will go black and then the apple logo appears again, but it won't go any farther than that. I plugged it into my computer to restore it, but my computer won't recognize it.
    Did I kill my iPod, or is there anything I can do? It's less than a year old, so it's still under warranty, but is there any point in bringing it in?
    my ipod touch is doing the same thing. it is so frustrating because it is frozen on the apple screen with two lines and won't respond to the computer and sometimes it will go to a screeen we pink vertical lines with the apple screen in the background. i called apple yesterday and they made me wait a day but nothing happened. any advice?
  • Ipod is stuck in lock mode
    Do you know how to restart an old Ipod because my ipod is stuck in lock mode.
    Does "lock mode" mean your iPod's buttons do not work, or does it mean you need to enter a code on a screen?
  • IPod Nano stuck in "lock" mode
    My iPod nano seems to be stuck in the locked position - not "locked" because I created a password for it, but it simply displays the lock symbol in the upper left corner regardless of how many times I flip the switch back to what should be "unlocked."  Because of this, I have no control over it.  When I disconnect it from my PC, the screen turns black and I cannot operate it.  Battery is fully charged.  Have tried soft reset many times, restore several times - no luck.
    Suggestions??????
    Thanks in advance.
    Hello paolamike,
    Not much for options here.  You'll need to have your iPod serviced either by Apple or a third party repair company to have the hold/lock switch replaced.
