My iPod isn't getting along with my PC!

Hello all,
I've been having a great deal of trouble with my system over the last couple of days and I've figured out that my computer seems to work fine when my iPod is not connected to it, but once I plug my iPod in, things start to go wrong. For instance, my computer will not fully boot if my iPod is plugged in before I turn my computer on. Without the iPod, it boots fine. The iPod is not being recognized by my computer or iTunes and every time I open "My Documents" when my iPod is plugged in, I will end up having to restart my computer (which will also not turn off correctly when the iPod is connected) because the "My Computer" screen ends up not responding and then when I go to "End Process" for "My Computer", the icons on my desktop disappear along with my "Start" bar. Any suggestions? Thank you.

IPod isn't getting notifications for any apps

So before you all suggest I check that the notifications are on, and the badges, sounds and such are on, they are all. My problem is that they are all on, and I don't get any notifications. Which is riduculous. I've deleted apps, and redownloaded them. I've synced my ipod, restarted it, restored it, everything. This only starting happening a week ago, and I wonder what cause this. I really need help because it is seriously irritating me as I don't receive notifications for incoming messags/ posts on facebook, replies from twitter, game notifications and when I'm using ebuddy, it doesn't notify me of incoming messages. Express lane isn't working right now either. HELP ! Desperate !

Shuffle doesn't get along with other USB drives

Okay, so I purchased a new iPod Shuffle, and upon connecting it to my computer and installing all the software, I nearly had a heart attack. According to Windows Explorer, all my data on my 80 gig USB hard drive and my 1 gig flash drive had been erased. I unplugged the flash drive and plugged it back in, and Windows told me it had no idea what to do with that device.
Long story short, I've determined that it's the Shuffle that's causing it. If I plug in the Shuffle, Windows stops recognizing my other USB drives. If I disconnect the Shuffle and repower the other devices, they work normally again. The Shuffle has its own drive letter, so it's not a conflict there. Any ideas?

Same problems here. (-50 erros when trying to autofill and -1480 errors when attempting to Restore) I have two other iPods and they sync fine. I'm also having the same hang-up problems once I plug in the Shuffle and try to either Restore of Autofill. I successfully managed to load songs once after 40 minutes of work. Now, nothing. I've tried absolutely everything.
Please fix this!

HT201472 Stolen ipod, can't get anywhere with the support

My ipod touch was stolen in the week, and I haven't set up the 'find my iphone/ipod' setting on icloud yet.
Wanted to talk to someone about how to proceed, so went to the support area. All general topics were about use, clicked on 'other topic',
wrote in "stolen ipod", then it asks my to write in my serial number, which i can find on the device screen, only i can't because its been stolen!!
Can't seem to contact anyone without it, now totally stuck
I just want to freeze/wipe the device so no one can hack into my accounts

As you did not setup Find My iPhone or take a note of the serial number you can not locate or wipe the device now.

My new Quad Core iMac Not Getting Along With LG External.

I just got a new Quad Core iMac. It's great, except for one this:
My LG Flatron W1953T insists on a 1360 x 768 resolution. Unfortunately, the Displays control panel does not offer that as an option. The closes is 1280 x 768, which means I have a stretched image, which does not work for reading or looking at photos. The LG does not allow me to change its resolution.
How do I get my way-cool new iMac to offer 1360 x 768 as an output?

Compiz, GTK window decorator not getting along with metacity

Hello,
Today gtk-window-decorator managed to break on my machine, resulting in no window decorations. I'm using emerald as a temporary solution, but I'd prefer to go back to gtk-window-decorator if possible. When I start compiz, the following occurs:
gtk-window-decorator: error while loading shared libraries: libmetacity-private.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I found some posts that suggested using metacity2 instead of metacity, but I'm using compiz-bzr from the AUR which lists metacity as a dependency which conflicts with metacity2. I tried downgrading metacity, but that didn't help. I'm not entirely sure where to go from here.

Installing the stable version of compiz got gtk-window-decorator working again, but now I have no minimize or maximize buttons on any gtk theme (only a close button), and gtk-window-decorator throws me
(gtk-window-decorator:23942): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid uninstantiatable type '(null)' in cast to 'WnckWindow'
gtk-window-decorator: Ignoring unknown or already-used button name "appmenu"
EDIT: This problem was solved by running
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences button-layout "'menu:minimize,maximize,close'"
for future reference to anyone who stumbles across this post. Thanks again for the help!

I can't get along with Tomcat and MySQL

i'm using tomcat 5.5 and wan to connect to mysql database. when trying to run my webapp, the compiler said like the driver(java-connector) is not detected. what should i do now... someone tell me please. and where exactly i should copy the driver(jar file) to. thnk u in advance:D

Minor but extremely annoying issue.
When I have both opera (version 11.61) and gsfonts (1.0.7pre44-3) installed Opera uses different than default, ugly-looking set of serif fonts in almost all possible places. Removing the gsfonts solves the issue, but I want to keep both of these packages on my system.
Apparently (but I'm not sure about that) Opera uses some fonts from the gsfonts package. I don't know how to prevent this behaviour.
Any clues?

Restoring album names to iPhoto from iPod along with photos

Ok, I know that I can restore photos to iPhoto from my iPod. The question is, will the album designations import with them? The iPod has a file called "Photo Database" which I think may contain these designations but iPhoto uses a different file type to store that data. Is there a way (perhaps a 3rd party solution) to extract the album designation info from that iPod file?

I used the autosych feature in iTunes. So, I don't have a complete backup of all the iPhoto library files but I did make sure to sych full res photos in addition to thumbnails. I don't mind losing stuff like keywords or titles as I didn't use either much at all. I'm not sure if auto-synching to the iPod updates photos that have been retouched in iPhoto since last sync, but if it doesn't it's no big deal since I only ever used red-eye redux and that was only now and then.
So, my iPod has all full-size photos in its "Full Resolution" sub-folder of the iPod's "Photos" folder along with the "Photo Database" file. Of course, the thumbnails are there in the "Thumbs" sub-folder but I doubt I need to bother with those since I have the full-size ones.

Cannot sync iPod 128GB or iPhone 4S with iTunes 11.3.1.2.

Either the iPod freezes and crashes, along with iTunes freezing or my iPhone syncs, but I cannot play the music that is synced to the iPhone. I updated to the new version of iTunes a few days ago, and this is the first time syncing so I think there may be a problem with iTunes. I have tried to disconnect and sync both devices three times and I still get the same result.

I should also mention that all of my files on the iPod were erased and now I have nothing on there.

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup.

I have a 2GB IPOD with only 385 songs on it. I downloaded 2 CD's to iTunes but when I try and sync the IPOD I'm getting an error message indicating there isn't enough space. I thought a 2GB would hold at least 500 songs.

I have a 2GB IPOD with only 385 songs on it. I downloaded 2 CD's to iTunes and when I try and sync the IPOD I'm getting an error message that says I don't have enough free space. I thought a 2GB IPOD held at least 500 songs. I've even deleted songs from from iTunes library.

The figures that Apple used to use when saying how many songs coud fit onto any particular iPod were based on a 4 minute song at a Bit Rate of 128Kbps and that's the bit rate that songs sold by iTunes used to be in. However, now the iTunes Store sells songs at 256Kbps (as do many other MP3 stores) - which means that each song now uses twice as much storage space than before.
So if your songs have a bit rate of higher than 128Kbps, and/or they are all longer than four minutes each, that's why 385 songs is filling up your iPod. You can check how much space is being used when the iPod is connected to iTunes Library. Look on the Device panes for the capacity bar at the bottom of the window. How much space is being used by Music?
The solution is either:
Use iTunes to make 128Kbps versions to go onto your iPod - or,
Sync the iPod using Playlists and then choosing which Playlists you want on it. Smart Playlists may be the answer - you can set Smart Playlists up so that they automatically add and remove songs from your iPod, so that there is a constant change of songs (according to the rules you set)
