My ipod isnt charging or turning on

my ipod doesnt want to turn on or charge

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.

  • My ipod isnt charging with amazon lighting.

So recently my apple Ipod charger brokeand i bought an amazon brand lighting charger. While waiting my ipod died. So when the amazon charger arrived I plugge it in. I waited an hour and nothing has happened. It looks like a battery with 3 tiny red bars in it. It also does not sync. Am I able to fix it without going to a store? Or do I just need to buy an apple lighting charger?

  • Does my ipod touch charge when turned off!

Hi guys i got my 16g ipod touch in the uk after work tonight. A quick question, when connected to the computer does it continue to charge when i turn the power off on the touch? As nothing indicates on the screen that it is charging and it also disappears from itunes. cheers

Yeah I was wondering the same thing since my ipod for some reasons seems to charge really slowly. I'm about to burn my one support call and might end up sending it back as a defect. I've charged it while using my computer (so obviously it wasn't asleep), and it would creep up very slowly. Then I let it charge overnight on my laptop (8 hours) and it would go like 25% from about 25% battery. I tried recharging it from my iHome ipod dock and it would charge a bit faster, then sort of cap off at about 66-75% battery. I've tried turning sticking it i the iHome and turning it off and seemed to have no effect on the battery. I'm going to try it again tonight having it turned off while attached to my laptop. It will be my last attempt before calling Apple. I am really frustrated.

  • IPod isnt charging

Hi, i just recently got my 4GB nano...and this morning when i tried to charge it it wouldnt charge, the screen is turned off because the battery is dead..and when i plug it into the USB cable it doesnt charge...iTunes and iPod updater doesnt detect it either please help..im starting too worry..

I believe the documentation says that if the nano battery is completely flat, it may take up to 10 minutes or so to build up enough charge that the computer will recognise the nano.... just leave it connected and see what happens

  • 4G iPod loses charge fast, turns on with Hold switch, when I touch it

Hello all. I've dropped my iPod more than twice. The battery performed great for years until a few months ago. It just suddenly seemed to lose all life. I replaced the battery, watched the video for the instructions, etc. This new battery is supposed to have more capacity but it loses it's charge fast. It might play a couple of hours and the battery icon shows maybe 3/4 remaining--good enough--but then the next day, it might be completely gone. I have done a restore and made sure that the alarm is not on. Another thing that happens is when I take the iPod off of hold when it's off, it turns on. And also, the backlight seems to turn on at times (though not consistently and not for the most part) when I merely touch it. Did I install the battery wrong? Has it had one too many falls?
It's performed great since I got it. Still syncs just fine, sounds great. I wonder if anyone can tell me anything I can try to restore it's battery function and fix what went wrong with the hold switch and the touch issue. Afterall, this is not an iPod touch

when I take the iPod off of hold when it's off, it turns on.
I think that is normal. My 4th gen turns on if I move the HOLD switch from ON to OFF when the iPod is off.
For the battery, when you install a new one, you should charge it full. Then you should let it run (not charge it) until it is completely discharged (iPod will not turn back on). Then charge it completely full. You may want to do that cycle one more time. If you have not let it go from full charge to zero charge by letting it play continuously, give that a try. After charging it full, use it normally.
If the battery charges and has good playtime, but it does not hold a charge overnight, it is possible that the battery (not the iPod) is defective.
the backlight seems to turn on at times (though not consistently and not for the most part) when I merely touch it.
Well, that's normal too, if you have it set so that the backlight comes on for a few seconds when you use the controls. Go to the iPod's Settings screen and check the +Backlight timer+ setting. Also, you can go to the iPod's Settings screen and select +Reset All Settings+ to initialize to the default settings.

  • My ipod isnt charging right

i have tried charging my mini on my computer and on the power adapter, but its seems to not charge on either one. i left it on the charger over night and the next day when i take it off, it says that the battery is empty. and i dont think it is the usb wire because i tried a different one. is there anyway to fix this problem without taking it back to where i bought it?

    Do this test.

If the battery isn't getting near the suggested times, fill out the service request for battery replacement. Apple will require you to tell them what the results were from that test.

  • Ipod Touch Charged, Not Turning On, Nothing Happens When Put on Charger

I hope someone can help me. I returned from a run today and my ipod shut itself off. I've checked for the red dot at the base of the head phone plug, but it is still silver. I've attached the ipod to a charger and then to my computer using the USB cable. It is completely unresponsive. I've tried resetting the device, but nothing happens. Is anyone familiar with this problem? It doesn't strike me as being a quick fix. I very much appreciate your insights.

I had the samething happen to mine today. Guessing it either needs a new battery or the connection port for the charging cord is broke. I've been looking through the apple site all day for the answer, with no luck. Guessing I'm going to have to send it away to be repaired or have the battery changed.
