My ipod isnt reconized by my computer

when i plug my ipod into my laptop it isnt reconized by the computer or itunes. iv tryed on 4 diff computers and it still wont reconize it. the usb ports are fine and when i plug it into a wall it charges just fine. someone plz help

Try a reset.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If you go into your device manager, is there a little red x or yellow exclamation point next to the necessary drivers?
Right click and select Update Driver Software.
Click Browse My Computer and enter in C:\Windows\System32
Windows will find the iPod and so will iTunes!

HT1414 if your ipod isnt recognized and synced with this computer, how do you restore it if it is disabled?

I hooked my ipod up to a different computer to restore it because I forgot my password and its disabled but whenever I try it says "itunes could not connect to the ipod because it is locked with a passcode. you must enter your passcode on the ipod before it can be used with itunes." I even restored it and it let me update it but once it was finished, this message would still pop up. Please help ASAP!

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have had a 30 gig color ipod for about six months, never had a problem until 2 days ago. I dont think there is a problem with my PC, as its a work computer and has never had acted up.
After resetting my Ipod, the ipod logo screen will not go away and the Ipod will not turn on.
I've tried putting the Ipod into disk mode but the Ipod isnt recognized by Itunes. I have downloaded the latest version of Itunes and Ipod Installer. I have backed up all of my files.
I want to try to Restore the Ipod but I can't because its not being recognized. My USB port works fine and I know the connection works because when I put it in disk mode, I can see it charging.
On one attempt to Restore the Ipod, I got message that says "can't mount Ipod"

I have a similar problem. I have a 60Gb color Ipod which worked fine with my previous computer, a Pentium III using Windows 2000.
I changed to a Windows XP notebook and the iPod is not recognized by it. The strange thing is that it apears on the attached devices feature (usually on the lower right bar) once I connect it, it appears as drive F: on explorer, but when I try to open it on explorer I get an error message, most of the time saying it is an I/O problem. Additionaly, the iPod is not recognized by iTunes and when I tried formating or updating it I either got a message it was not connected or the Initializing went on forever.
I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me (I already booted everything several times, resintalled all programs, formated my iPod in the other computer...).

hey i have had my ipod for a year and a half and all of a sudden tonight i go to connect and it won't get reconized on my computer...
I mean itunes loads and i connect it and all it says is do not connect on the ipod and then on the computer screen a file shows up w/ my contacts and calender and ipod stuff,etc.
And my dads loads on computer but mine won't and his is brand new and will load and mine has been on this computer for a year now....so tell me wats wrong...thnx ppl.

If they send the original iPod mini to Apple and get a replacement from them, you will most likely get another 4GB iPod mini, as Apple is still selling them. If you get a replacement from what Best Buy is currently selling, it will likely be either a 6GB iPod mini if they have them in stock or a 4GB iPod nano. It is not possible to say for certain what you will get if the model you return isn't currently in stock.

First try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
