my ipod touch just broke and before i jump into spending $400 on a new 1 i wana know if there is going to be a 5g coming out any ideas? let me know. i heard rumors and since its been like 2 years i either think apple is done upgrading the ipod touch or they are working on omthing revolutionary. t
Assuming you didn't take your iPod apart, Apple will do an out-of-warranty "repair" on a broken iPod. They will replace your 4g 64gb iPod with a refurbished one for $199 (+S&H, if you don't take it to an Apple store).

I have just bought new Ipod touch 32 GB and upgraded to 5.0.1 and it it worse now my battery doesn't last for more then two hour.

Please help me.......This is a general comment, not directed to anyone, and not to be taken personally by anyone. This ongoing screw up with the new upgrade (5.0.1) is getting to be a **** SHAME. In no way can APPLE or anyone else for that matter not know by now that the upgrade is terribly flawed. The Ipod machines themselves are super great products, and I enjoy mine to the max. However the upgrade once applied ruins it. And at least, not to my current knowledge, there haven't been any fixes forcoming.
In my opinion Apple should own up to that fact and warn folks that, even though the upgrade was presented with the best intentions, IT JUST AIN"T WORKING. And not to download it until further notice. This noticication could be done through the retail sales outlet, online, what ever.
I liken this to a pharmaceutical coming out with a new vaccine, encourage everyone to use it, then discover it's bad to the degree it causes it uses to become sick. Rather then pull the vaccine they keep on allowing unsuspecting ones to continue to vaccinate, and become sick. What a shame!

Just bought new iPod touch. When I connect to computer to sync it tells me "iTunes could not connect to this iPod touch. Could not send a message to device." Not sure if it is b/c of an older version of iTunes but connecting via wifi sync unacceptable
What version of iTunes is on the computer? You need at least 11.4.

I have an existing ipod that I use with my mac. I am trying to connect an additional ipod to it but when I try and register, it just brings up the existing info. I don't want to lose the original info or library - just create new for this device. Pls help...
We are starting from the beginning like its a new ipod starts out asking language, country,location services,choose a network,and when we get to "setup ipod touch " there are 3 options 1..setup as new ipod, 2.restore from ipod backup 3 restore from itunes backup and when we hit setup as new ipod and click next it comes up with sign in with apple id or create a free apple id we clicked create a free apple id....then comes up with bday,1st name last name, use your current email address, get a free icloud email address or change email address and THIS is where we have problems....if we hit change email address it means that sis's stuff goes under his name and moves all her stuff to this older ipod which the brother does not want. sorry this is so long but its the only way I knew to do it.

You appear to have a second generation iPod touch, not a third, and those can't be updated past 4.2.1. Apple sold 8GB second generation models at the same time as the third generation ones.

i have smurf village on my ipod and just downloaded new smurf village to my ipad, but it has reset my game on the ipod. how to l fix this and can l get my original game position back.
If it is the same app for the iPod and the iPad (universal or iPod/iPhone app) and not a iPad only app, the only way is to restore the iPad from the backup of the iPod. That will wipe out all the app data currently on the iPad though.
If the iPad is an iPad only app, then there is no way. -
I have recently started using an old Nano and purchased some new songs. When I go to sync it wants to erase other songs to download new. Is there a way to just sync new songs to ipod without erasing existing music on devise?
Syncing shouldn't trouch you photos unless you have photos in a Photo Library album. These would be photos that were synced to your phone from your computer. If you do have any, you'll need to use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your computer prior to syncing.
If you prefer to backup your camera roll photos prior to syncing, open iTunes and go to Preferences>Devices and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically". Then connect your phone to your computer and import them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then, to minimize data loss, follow the steps in this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141. To follow the steps, first open iTunes and go to View>Show Sidebar. Also, Transfer Purchases is now located in File>Devices. -
Protect or keep whats on ipod and just sync new stuff? How?
Can you just sync new things to your ipod somehow? I have stuff I have downloaded to my ipod that when I sync again to add new stuff will say the files arent there so I will lose them - so can I set these to stay and only sync new content??
If you want to delete songs from iTunes and keep them on the iPod you need to change the update option of your iPod to "manually manage music and videos" (this setting isn't available for an iPod shuffle, you can't delete from iTunes and keep the songs on the shuffle). The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different, you can get details here:

One major word of caution. If you delete songs or videos from your computer and have no back up other than the iPod you will risk losing them permanently if your iPod fails or you find you have to restore it to solve a problem. You should consider investing in an additional internal or external hard drive to store/back up your music. Alternatively at the very least back up anything you can't replace such as iTunes downloads to CD or DVD or an external drive:

Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
Don't delete anything until you have changed the update option. If by any chance you do however you can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. If you purchased AppleCare + within 30 days of getting your iPhone 5 you are allowed 2 instances of breakage replacement with a $49 deductible. If you do not have AppleCare + accidental breakage is not covered under you warranty, you can do an out-of-warranty replacement for $229.

If you plug your phone into your computer you can sync and backup so that when you get the new phone you can restore from a backup instead of setting it up as a new iphone

I went through the same thing with my 4th generation iPod Touch. The glass broke when it fell onto a hard tile floor. I brought it in to the Apple Store and the replacement cost $200. The replacement was a refurbished iPod Touch. They charge for the replacement because AppleCare doesn't cover accidental damage. If you want accidental damage covered, you'll have to get AppleCare+, which is a new option Apple just started carrrying a little while ago, probably to keep people buying some sort of AppleCare, as the regular Apple doesn't cover accidental damage(although a lot of people buy it thinking it covers accidental damage).
Although they might actually repair your iPhone.
I know exactly what you mean about not liking the idea of a previously used iPhone. I was in the same frame of mind as you when I was getting my iPod replaced. I didn't like the idea of a used iPod, but after a few minutes, I got over it. You can hardly tell that it's refurbished because it looks almost like new.
