My iPod just died. Any ideas?

My iPod is almost five years old. I took it with me on a trip yesterday, and it worked like a charm all day. This morning I started to sync it with iTunes on my Pro, and it was plain out DEAD. I plugged it in to see if it needed charging but it was dead. Any hope for this one? It has been taken care of very well.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

For anyone else reading this thread, it is worth knowing that sometimes an email is, or can be, corrupted thereby jamming the works. The solution above is good, but I just wanted to suggest another one.
If the problem arises, go to an online mail access service, such as Mail2Web.com and login to you mail account there and delete the offending message.
Problem solved.
And George, as this is all entirely voluntary, whinging about no takers may not endear people to you. Besides which, a few minutes of searching on Google would have found you a number of solutions.

Well if she backs up her iPod regularly, she is in luck. You can restore the iPod, then choose a backup to use after it is done restoring. Information on doing this is available here:

- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers

- Wait if it is an Apple problem

Help no volume button or silent button workin, no text tones or ringtones but strange the ipod is workin any ideas how to fix this plz

my iphone 4 has just started to play up !! when i go to switch the silent button on nothing **** up on the screen, nor does the volume button do this either. Also i never hear a text when i get it or hear it ringing, but i can play my ipod no probs. It takes a long time to open an app and sometimes it will just crash, any idea how to fix it?

My four year old Macbook Pro couldn't start yesterday and after going through solutions and all, it worked. But now it's freaking laggy and whenever I want to open an app, it takes a long time or the app will just crash. Any idea how to fix it? I really need the speed and everything back.

so you have an external hard disk, onto which you deleted/moved files from your internal hard disk, so that you now have 143 GB or so free on your internal hard disk — is that correct? Is the external disk purely for backups (e.g. a Time Machine destination), or does it function as a supplement to your internal disk?
Was it entirely your personal data files (documents, photos, movies, music, &c.) which you’d deleted or moved to the external disk, or did you also delete/move apps, libraries, &c. over there?
I’m not familiar with Echofon Lite, so I can’t comment on it, but an Apple-supplied app like the App Store shouldn’t crash.
Have you tried running Disk Utility yet, to see if its verification process gives your disks its seal of approval?

Nothing that requires and Apple ID or a password works, the WIFI, browser adn facebook all still work just the Apple stuff will not work. It repeately ask me to sign in. It works just fine on the desktop I can log in a buy stuff even transfer it to theI pad with a cable. But the I pad acts like it has been isolated by the os upgrade. Try logging out of your Apple ID with the iTunes and App Store at Settings > iTunes and App Store. Select your Apple ID and at the window that appears, select Sign Out. Follow this by signing back in.
Regarding the Outlook password which is the password for the email account you are also accessing with the iPhone's Mail app, try deleting and recreating the account on the iPhone.

This issue can be caused by the McAfee SiteAdvisor extension.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Assuming that the battery isn't empty (and it can take up to 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

BBC iPlayer play button no longer works on my iPod Touch. Any ideas?

The "CLICK TO PLAY" button in BBC iPlayer no longer starts programs. It was OK unitl Feb 22nd 2012 but has just stopped working. Multiple resets and restore have had no effect.

I have iPad 3 (new iPad) 3G version with iOS 6.1.3. Try uninstalling and installing it again, but nothing improves.

How much free storage do you have on your device? If you have less than 100 MB you can run in to trouble. Did you try both, to install over iTunes+USB and the AppStore app as well?

In trying to update itunes to version 10.7 I get messages that older versions of "Bonjour" and "Apple Software update" cannot be removed and so the update fails. Itunes works well on my old ipod nano but not on my new ipod touch? Any ideas

Any ideas as to how I can update an older version of iTunes to at least version 10.7 given the problems I'm having with "bonjour" and the "software update"?

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Updateentries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

Previously after I read a item in Craigslist, it would highlight so I knew it had been read. This just stopped, Any ideas?

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

All audio works out of dock connector with Apple a/v cable, except for ipod audio. I get no ipod audio. Any ideas?

I have an iPhone 3gS (iOS 4.3.3) and an Apple AV cable. This arrangement has worked in the past. Now, I get NO iPod audio out of the dock connector/AV cable. All other audio (movies/YouTube/etc.) works fine with the Apple AV cable...but, I get NO iPod audio.

I have tried videos from iTunes and my own conversions.
I managed to test my cables using a friends 30GB iPod and it worked just fine. I looked really good and I'm really looking forward to getting mine working.
It is definitely my iPod. Both the Apple AV Cable and the cheaper, longer Belkin AV iPod cable work fine with other iPods.
I will try firmware version 1.1.2 when I get home but I don't have high hopes. I will post the results for the silent masses yearning for an answer to the same problem.
