My ipod just shut down

I recently got an iPod touch in December. Today it was working just fine than it just shuts down in the middle of the day. Any explanation why it would do that?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Ipod Just shuts down for no reason

Hey guys,
I just had my i pod replaced yesterday it was under warranty and they exchanged my 6 month old 80 gig i pod for a new one. I left on my computer all night so it could sync and charge, And then today it would just shut down by itself randomly, and you could not get it turned back on until you plugged it into the wall power supply. Any ideas what to do?

Try resetting your iPod. To reset an iPod with a clickwheel:
First, toggle your iPod's "Hold" switch back and forth a couple of times. (Be sure to leave it on the white side of the switch, which is the Off position)
Then, press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds.
Repeat this a few times. Preferrably, while your iPod is connected to your computer, or other power source.
After you've done this, and if your iPod can successfully turn on, then let's try restoring it to factory settings.

IPOD just shuts down when playing a logic wav. . .

Hi.
If i bounce from Logic as a wav and put the file in iTunes, the iPOD shuts down. Its always done this and i just got a new iPOD and it does the same.
Has anyone got any ideas?

Check the sample rate and bitrate against what the iPod is able to play.

I went to I went to Mt Seymour last Saturday...... My Ipod was still working when I got home, but my ipod just shut down when i Charged it... So i just let my ipod charging for like 3 days

after that , I dedcided to remove the case and I saw a little water in it....... my pics and and songs are all there...... My comp got reset and deleted all the pics and songs.... i dont wanna lose my stuffs,,, pls Help me T.T

When I try to calibrate my iPod nano after a run it just shuts down and restarts. Whats happening?

After I run (iin basic mode) I try to calibrate. (I've done this a few times before).
Lately when I do/try this the iPod just shut down and restarts.
I've tried restoring the iPod in iTunes to no help.
It's a 6th generation nano coupled to a nike sensor.
Any help would be much apreciated.

As a test to determine if it is nike sensor only issue run once without the sensor. Use the inbuilt accelerometer to complete a run and calibrate it.

My ipod keeps shutting down when I'm on exercise equipment

I've had three iPod shuffles shut down this week. It's very strange. One was a brand new 4th generation. I was on an elliptical machine at the gym and it stopped playing. I never got it started again and it's not charging or recognized by my computer. I've done everything it says online and it is just dead. Same thing happened to another 4th generation that is about a year old. But it has since charged and appears to work, but have not used it on exercise yet. Then today, I was using an older 2nd generation iPod and it shut down 25 or so minutes into my exercise on this same piece of equipment. Just went dead. Could there be some sort of electrical thing going on? Am I getting sweat into them? I have the clipped to my shorts and wonder if maybe my body is some how disabling them?

If you are having issues with multiple iPod shuffles that stop responding during exercise, you may find the following article on resetting the iPod shuffle helpful. You may also want to try using them clipped to a different location, like an arm band, and see if the same issue occurs.

Brand New ipod touch shut down Completely during upgrading os4?

Hubby buy me 64gb ipod touch for my birthday 2weeks ago, i was upgrading it to os4 last night... it was doing fine... then suddenly, the whole thing just shut down like that. There's no way i able on it at all... HOW? All my 11months old son pictures and videos are all in my ipod touch!

Your pictures are on your computer (that's how they got on your touch) so not to worry. If it is truly dead, take it back to wherever your husband bought it and get a new one.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

IPod Touch Shuts Down Unexpectedly

Hello,
I bought my 14 year old niece an iPod Touch for Christmas. We got it up and running on Christmas day and tought her how to add content. I used my iTunes account to buy 6 videos, which she is able to play successfully at all times. However, whenever she tries to play songs that have been added from her CD collection, she gets through about 3/4 of a song and then the whole device just shuts down. She then has to wait a minute or two before the device can be powered on again. If she tries to play another song, the same thing happens but if she plays a video, all is well.
Has anyone else seen this issue? If so, does anyone have ideas on how to address it. I've already restored the device and that did not help. Apple customer support has not been very helpful so, barring any new information from forum readers, my next step will be to return it.

t could be that for some reason, the music software is crashing. It might be something that could be resolved by a reset/restore. I would try that first.
It could also be the result of a hardware issue. If the restore does not help I would definitely see about exchanging the unit. Take it to an Apple Store or the place you bought it.

Quicktime codec does not work, internet explorer just shuts down!

I have reinstalled quicktime many times and still I cannot view any videos or movie previews on internet explorer that use the quicktime plugin. When I open the page that is supposed to use the plupin, a window pops up saying I should install the ActivX controller. When I press ok another popup comes up saying that internet explorer needs to shut don because of an error. So it just shuts down. I have tried to go through the support pages and I cant see anything that would seem to help so there is anyone who knows how to fix this problem, I would appreciate it.

It's been years since I use Internet Explorer (especially on a PC).
You must "enable" the ActiveX control in IE. (Probably a preference setting).
Have you tried using other Web browsers? Most are free.

IPod Nano shuts down randomly and doesn't restart unless connected

This happened to me two days ago. I was working on a pool listening to a podcast, with the iPod in my pocket. I was wearing black pants and it was very hot, so I'm not sure if it's simply an issue of overheating, but what happened was while I was listening to the podcast the iPod completely shut down. I took it out of my pocket and tried to reset it holding the menu and center buttons, but the iPod wouldn't respond to this. The iPod was completely charged the night before so I'm sure this isn't an issue. I took it home and hooked it up to my computer and it worked fine. But today, it did the same thing, listening to the same podcast (TalkRadar) and wouldn't respond to the menu and center buttons again, but it responded to plugging it in to the computer. Something else happened, too, the iPod would turn on and off randomly even while connected to the computer and I would have to unplug the iPod and re-plug it back in. Does anybody have an idea of what the problem is? I want to know whether or not I should send it in for repair.

If resetting or restoring the ipod does not work, take it to an Apple Store. Let the staff examine it. If you have Apple Care, call them.

Before the reset quit Pages like this:
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app.

I would instead say you have a problem since nearly all IPs work as advertised. IF you do have a bad phone, take it into an Apple store and get a replacement. Hope you didn't jailbreak your phone though as Apple probably will tell you, you broke it, you fix it.
