My ipod keeps displaying old backups name

i made a backup for my cousins i pod 2g (i have a ipod 4g)  i made the back up for her about a year and a half ago and i bought my ipod about a week ago.  it has become annoying is there a registry cleaner i need or a back up delete"r or could it be a problem with my iTunes or Microsoft?

Try opening up your multitasking tray by double-tapping your Home button, hold you finger on any icon until they start to jiggle and then kill all of the apps in there.

  • Reports 6i keeps displaying old version of report output

    Hi
I am using Forms and Reports 6i. Using web.show_document to diaplay the report.
Each time I run the report from the form it keeps displaying the same old information and the date on the report is always 20 Sep 2007. I have changed columns on the report, but the report still shows a report run on 20 Sep 2007 with the original columns.
However, I have run the same application from a different PC with the same log in id and password and the report works fine. Is there something like logs etc on my pc that needs to be cleared?
    Thanks

I have noticed that when I run the report and the old version displays, I then go to Internet Explorer, click on Tools, then Internet Options and Delete Files, and run the report again, then the latest version displays.
    Any help?????

  • New iPod keeps displaying the folder and "!"

Hi. Yesterday was my birthday, and I got a new iPod nano, 2GB. After some trouble, I finally got Windows and iTunes to recognize the iPod, and all that good stuff. Now, the problem is that when I try to actually do something with it, it keeps displaying a folder with an exclamation point by it, with the website "www.apple.com/support/ipod" and I can't do anything else with it. I don't understand what it's trying to say... Did I miss a step or is it just not done charging, or something else?
      Windows XP

Okay... so, scatch that last question. I fixed that by installing the new updater.
But now I'm back to where I was last night.
The "Do Not Disconnect" screen won't go away, and the iPod isn't showing up as being connected with iTunes.

  • JSF keeps displaying old values after Validation Phase fails

    Hi all,
I would like to ask some help in understanding a particular behaviour that JSF shows when Validation Phase fails.
    I'm using:
    - Tomcat 7.0.2
    - JSF 1.2_12
    - RichFaces 3.3.3
    Problem description.
I wrote a form with 4 input fields: an inputText and 3 selectOneMenu. The inputText is required while the selectOneMenus don't require any validation.
Attached to the first selectOneMenu (row 32), is an a4j:support tag so that, whenever the change event is fired, the list of items of the second
and the third selectOneMenu (row 44 and 58) are correctly filled (note that the mandatory of the inputText is ignored thanks to the ajaxSingle attribute).
In particular, after loading the two lists of items, the actionListener forces the value of the second and the third selectOneMenu to null.
This mechanism seems to work fine until I submit the whole form without filling the input text: as expected, JSF validation fails but if I change the value of
the first selectOneMenu again (causing a new submit), the page keeps displaying the values specified before JSF validation failed for the second and the third
selectOneMenu (note that the actionListener is still called and the values of the second and the third selectOneMenu are still forced to null).
Since I'm using a simple PhaseListener, I noticed the following: before JSF validation fails, every time I change the value of the first selectOneMenu, JSF life
cycle always calls the get method for the second and the third selectOneMenu during the Render Response Phase. In this way, JSF is able to "see" that
those values have been set to null during the Invoke Application Phase.
After validation fails, JSF stops calling those getters when I change the value of the first selectOneMenu.
I hope my explanation was clear enough, thanks a lot for your help.
    Regards,
    Nico

I'm thinking this has to do with the fact that the UIComponents use the localValue after validation fails. This prevents the values from being overwritten when re-rendering the page, i.e. the inputs keep the value set by the user.
The solution is to manipulate the components directly during the AJAX request when the first pull down is changed. Use the binding attribute to place them into your bean and clear the value directly. That way it will not matter that the expression is not evaluated.

  • Time Machine only keeps two days backup, displays old backups that don't exist. Occurs on two separate HDD's

I have a 15" 2010 MBP C2D-2.53 in completely original form except it is running OSX 10.8. Applecare just ran out so that's not an option, FYI. Lately I went to fetch an old file from TM because the current file was corrupt and I noticed that TM was only backing up for the past couple of recent days. Oddly enough, it also displayed a couple of backups dated from 2010, even though the external HDD I'm using was purchased 2 months ago and the files displayed in the "2010" backup did not exist at that time so it's an impossibility. The backup disc is a toshiba canvio external 320gb USB.
I thought that was odd so I zeroed and reformatted that disc using disc utility. I made it the TM disc again, did the usual backup without error and waited a couple of days. Sure enough, when I checked it had continued the trend of displaying the impossible 2010-dated backup and was still only backing up the past couple of days' material correctly. I decided that this was all getting a bit silly, so I plugged an old external WD USB hard drive, formatted it and made it my second time machine backup disc. Waited a couple of days, accessed it, saw the same exact thing as with the other external drive.
I'm perplexed, however based on these rudimentary tests I'm guessing the culprit lies with the machine rather than the external hard drives. These facts may be unrelated, but I also notice that when I go to eject the toshiba external drive, it says something like "there is more than one partition, would you like to eject one or all" and the machine also had some work done on it by Apple recently. Specifically, a new logic board, airport card and complete erase/install where I reinstalled data successfully through migration assistant. The work was done due to kernel panics at boot. Thankfully for now I've also got CCC cloning the drive, but I do require the long-term snapshots that TM takes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I'm willing to do some digging to fix this issue.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Can I turn off iCloud backup and keep my old backup?

Basically I am sick of being asked for money for more storage space. I cannot seem to get my iPhone backup under the 5gb free space, so the only option I see is to turn off iCloud backup. Can I do this without deleting the old (original) backup?

No.  When you turn it off it removes your existing backup.  You'll have to back up to your computer using iTunes (after turning off iCloud backup it will automatically back up when you sync).

But when I tried to listen to the songs, my iPod displayed "Updating Library" screen then it exits out of the music completely. This happens after I charged it and updated my iTunes. It's been an hour and its still saying "Updating iTunes Library". Help! What can I do to fix this problem?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Using Time Machine to migrate to a new iMac, can I keep my old backups?

I've done a lot of searching on this and I'm having trouble finding an answer. I just got a new iMac to replace my existing one. I know the process of migrating either Mac-to-Mac or from my TM backup is straightforward and fairly simple. I'm just trying to figure out if, after migrating all my data to my new Mac, what will happen to my Time Machine disk. Will it want to re-baseline the new Mac and erase my historic backup data? Or will I still have access to the older incremental backups?
    Thanks,
    Matt

If you use either Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant to transfer your stuff, you'll be offered a choice.  See #B5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

I want a clean slate on my iPhone but I still need to keep my old backup (for texts, pictures) for court/legal purposes in an upcoming case, but in the mean time I don't want them on my phone and I cannot erase them.
My question is if I back up to my phone to computer, factory reset my iPhone, create a new apple ID, can I still eventually whenever I need to restore it those pictures and texts will still be there?
I hope my question is clear enough. I understand that I'll have to repurchase everything and set every thing up new again, but I need to know if those things will be forever lost.
Also, if and when I create everything new, when I plug into my iTunes (obviously under my current apple ID) is it going to mess up if it's still logged in to my old ID and not my new one? Can I still sync my music on it and everything?
    Thanks

Thanks everyone for your input. ibanez737 and vereyezuhn are correct. Wireless to wireless ports generally take between 30 minutes and 24 hours. Landline to wireless ports generally take between four and ten days. If your still receiving calls on your previous phone with your previous carrier, your port may not be complete.
Please note: Actual processing time may vary depending on the complexity of the port and your old service provider. For additional information regarding Local Number Portability or to check on the status of your port request, please click on the following link:  support.vzw.com/faqs/Switch20To20Verizon20Wireless/faq_local_number_portability.html
To complete the port to Verizon Wireless, ensure both phones are completely powered off. Power up your Verizon Wireless device, dial *228, send, and choose option #1. If you continue to receive calls on your previous phone,  you may check the status of your port request by calling 877-LNP-4VZW (877-567-4899).

  • Cannot connect to my old backups in Time Capsule after change Macbook HD

    Hi!
I recently changed my MacBook's HD to an SSD drive. After that, I've installed Mountain Lion (before changing I had OSX Lion) and when I try to backup all my files again, Time Capsule keeps saying "Time Machine completed a verification of your backups on “DeLorean”. To improve reliability, Time Machine must create a new backup for you.".
I'm able to access all my old backups and restore them, normally. But I want to reconnect the Mac again, keeping the old backups as a continuation from my old OS. My MacBook's name remains the same, I've installed Mountain Lion using the same computer's name.
This scenario it's occurring since February 2013. Last weekend I've changed the HD of my wife's MacBook and I'll need to reconnect it too. I tried the steps in Pondini's website (very interesting by the way!!!) but, when I try the B6 Troubleshooting "Reconnecting to your backups" using the pink section, I received the message "Read-only file system (error 30)".
I'm using the 2nd Generation of Time Capsule, 2 TB of disk. All other functions works propperly (WiFi, AirPlay, router, external SATA drive connected in USB port). Is it possible to reconnect them without erasing all older backups?

    C.Rocco Bruno wrote:
"Time Machine completed a verification of your backups on “DeLorean”. To improve reliability, Time Machine must create a new backup for you.".
That's Apple's way of saying the backups are damaged beyond OSX's ability to repair them, and TM will not back up to them again.    See #C13 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
when I try the B6 Troubleshooting "Reconnecting to your backups" using the pink section, I received the message "Read-only file system (error 30)".
It's not going to do that, either, since the backups are damaged.
No, sorry, damaged is damaged.  You can read and restore from them (unless you happen to hit any damaged spots), but nothing else.
It's always prudent to make "secondary" backups, especially when your main ones are on a network.  See Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #27 for details and some suggestions.
I'd strongly recommend getting an external HD and backing-up to it, probably with one of the "cloning" apps in that link, but you could use TM instead.  Do that before deleting the TM backups (so you have something to recover from if something awful happens before you have an "insurance" set.
If there's nothing else on the TC's HD, just erase it, per the green box in #Q5 of Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule.  That will only take a few moments.
If there is (sounds like there are two sets of backups there?), delete the damaged ones (the name may now be <your computer name>.purgeable) per the tan box in the same link. Do that, and the first new backup, while connected via Ethernet.  It will still take a looooong time, but be 2-3 times faster than WIFI.

  • After Lion upgrade old backups are visible but unaccessible

On two different machines with different type drives I upgraded from SL to Lion and everything went fine, except when I Enter Time Machine the backups prior to the upgrade are purple on the timeline and I can't access them. The files are there on the drive still but the UI will no longer allow me to restore form them.
As an aside, Time Machine is creating new backups just fine and I can restore ffrom them.
Since this happened on two separate machines with two different brands of external HD and both relatively new I would think this was more common.
    Any ideas?

I had this issue and FIGURED it out!
I had a MBP on SL with an Intel SSD. My hard drive was named "IntelSSD". I then purchased an AIR with Lion installed and used migration assistant. When turning on TM, it asked if I wanted to keep the old backups and I said Yes.
Well, just as the previous poster states, the change in HD name from "IntelSSD" to "Macintosh HD" causes TM to not related the two home directories as the same! Per the instructions, go to Finder where you see the HD and then enter Time Machine. From there you can go back and see your old HD name and drill in to find your files.
For Reference from the link above:
If you want to see the backups for such a disk or partition, either select your Computer name in the Finder sidebar, or quit Time Machine, press Shift+Cmd+C to show your computer, and re-enter Time Machine.  Do not select anything in the Finder window, but navigate to the backup you want via the Timeline.  The Finder windows will show one folder for each disk or partition that was included in each backup  (there are some samples in Troubleshooting item #E3).  If you want to restore the entire disk/partition, select all the top-level folders and restore to an alternate location, per question #16.

  • Clear space (old backups) WD My Passport for Mac HD

    Hi,
I have purchased an external hard disk WD My Passport for Mac in order to backup my MacBook Air regularly (with time machine) and store films and pictures to save space from my mac.
I have just realised that I have several old backups from my MacBook air stored in the hard drive which are taking quite a lot of space. I have tried deleting the old backups manually (I only need the last one, why would I need a backup from January?), however, the folder disappears but the space doesn't clear up, I'm guessing it's not possible to fully delete back ups this way.
I have read that it's possible deleting those old backups connecting the hard drive to a Windows PC but I do not have one (or any of my family or friends for that matter), surely there has to be a simpler way to clear up space from the hard drive, right? I have read to save the backup and files on my computer and then delete everything through disk utility, but I don't have enough space to keep the old backup and all the media I have stored on my HD in my mac (or another HD) in order to delete everything. Besides, it just sounds stupid, I should be able to delete old back ups easily.
    Thanks in advance!
    Marta

    Hi MadameMarta,
If you backed up your computer onto that external hard drive using Time Machine, then you will want to see the information in the following article to help you address this issue:
OS X Mavericks: Remove a backed-up item from your backup disk
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14221
You can move, copy, or delete the Backups.backupdb folder on your Time Machine backup disk as you would other folders. You can also delete folders within the Backups.backupdb folder. You can’t delete individual items inside the dated folders.
Important: Do not use Terminal or any app other than the Finder to move, copy, or remove items from the Backups.backupdb folder.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Braden
