My iPod Keeps Ejecting Everytime I Plug It In.

I get music and then when I want to sync I have to connect my iPod(Duh). So I open iTunes and I plug in the iPod with the USB Port.Once I do that it says Connected for 1 second and then ejects itself.I switch the port, it says connected for 1 second again, then ejects itself.I've tried resetting the iPod(Holding the center button and Menu), re downloading and reinstalling iTunes and still no luck. What's wrong and how can I fix it?

I solved the constant connection/disconnection problem on my 3G iPod Nano by buying a Belkins 5 port PCI USB Card Model FSU220 and connecting my iPod to this card rather than the on board USB. The Belkins card uses a NEC USB controller chip. I believe the constant connection/disconnection problem is caused when a VIA Chip is used as the USB Controller. If you are having this problem you probably have a VIA USB controller.
Although other cards with other controllers might solve the problem I bought this one because it was available locally (about $35.00 at Staples) and it is Mac and Windows compatible.
I tried restarting the computer, re-installing iTunes, connecting to a different USB plug, and returning the iPod for another and nothing worked. Installing the card solved the problem for me.
Interesting to note that my previous ipod classic worked on the computer's built-in USB plugs without any problems. Also interesting is that I could keep the iPod connected to the computer and transfer files to the iPod (not music files) as long as iTunes was not running.

  • Ipod keeps ejecting

i hav a 4th gen ipod nano..whenever i connect it to system[windows xp]it gets ejected without sycing. i connected my ipod to my computer (windows xp) my ipod disconnected by itself while itunes was checking it. Itunes and Windows detected it, as connected, but it ejects by itself right away after syncing. It would not let me put songs because it keeps getting disconnected immediately after connectig it...i hav tried reinstaliing i tunes..even restored ipod settings...but the problem hasnt changed...please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you go into iTunes while the iPod is synching, check the box "Enable Disk Use" or something like that. Afterwards it should remain connected each time until you eject it. Does that help?

  • My iPod keeps freezing when i plug it into my computer.

When i plus my iPod into my computer, my iPod and computer freezes up. I haven't charged it or used it in a few months, so i'm not sure if that may be the case, but can you please help me?

My old 2nd-Gen Nano was showing a split screen too; I ended up just getting a new iPod. It started that split screen after the Click Wheel had stopped working.
I know this won't help much but that's what I had to do.

  • My 1st gen ipod shuffle, since the last update is seen as my ipod touch everytime I plug it in... any suggestions?

My 1st gen ipod shuffle, since the last update is seen as my ipod touch everytime I plug it in... any suggestions?
I have tried to clear temp folder, uninstalled, and reinstalled itunes version 10.5.1.42... ipod touch 4th gen is seen fine. But when I eject this and plug in my old shuffle... itunes still reports it as ipod touch.

The only suggestion I have is to try and rename your device in iTunes to something else by clicking it's current name from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and typing in a new one.

  • My iPod doesn't stay connected, it keeps ejecting and saying disconnected (4th gen iPod nano)

my iPod doesn't stay connected, it keeps ejecting and saying disconnected (4th gen iPod nano) and im trying to connect it to my new laptop to add music to it.

I had the same thing happen where the ipod would cycle between connected and ejecting and disconnecting, with the USB device icon appearing then disappearing is the application tray. I tried reinstalling iTunes, resetting the ipod, resetting the computer and tried it on another USB port then another computer and had the same thing happen. I was ready to take the ipod back to the store and thought I'd try it on my work laptop and it worked OK. The two previous computers were the same make and have 8 USB ports each, two on the front and 6 at the rear. I only tried the two front ports. After it worked on the work laptop I tried one of the rear USB ports on the original PC, which is a bit of a pain, but it worked. I ejected it and plugged it into one of the front USB ports again and I got the same cycling effect. Plugging back into the rear port and it was fine. I can only assume that some USB ports may be borderline with power requirements which the iPod is touchy on. I suggest if you experience this problem try the iPod on ALL your USB ports even if you have to move an existing USB device to another port.
I did read somewhere in the support area that an external USB hub that has its own power supply could help if the unit has issues recharging through a direct USB port so since this issue appears to be port related an external USB hub may be another solution. I personally haven't tried this but if all the direct ports on the PC exhibit this issue this may be a valid alternative outside of returning the unit. Hopefully someone may find this helpful.

  • Everytime I plug in iPod Setup assistant starts

I've only had my 60Gb iPod for a month. I've seen variations of this question but decided to post in case soemething new has come up. Everytime I plug in my iPod and itunes starts, I get the Startup Wizard asking me to set up my iPod.
The name of the iPod is already filled in and I see it under source.
I've gone through the set up process several times and the message continues to appear.
The iPod drive letter isn't mapped to a network drive.
I can cancel the Setup wizard and the iPod updates with no problem so it is mostly an annoyance right now. Before I go the uninstall/reinstall route I thought I would check with you folks.

    See if this helps

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If you look at the feed, and look at the entry 'The end to an exciting field season in Aulavik National Park' you will see the line:
    <pubDateFri, 29 Jul 2011 04:00:00 GMT</pubDate>
You have not closed the 'pubdate' tag - there should be a '>' as the 9th character. Because the tag has been left open, it invalidates everything which follows it, and thus the entire feed. iTunes therefore cannot read it, which is why the Store has not updated. Add the '>' and republish, and all should be well.
It's always worth checking your feed by subscribing manually, from the 'Advanced' menu, or by clicking the 'subscribe free' button on the Store page (both do the same thing) - if you can subscribe to the feed it should be OK.

With the iPod still connected, try resetting it by pressing and holding both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

my ipod touch 8gb keeps freezing everytime i press something and it never lets me listen to music , i tried to restore it millions of times but it does the same thing

How much free storage space is available on your iPod Touch?
When restoring your iPod Touch with iTunes, did you restore from the backup for the iPod Touch or as a new iPod Touch?
If the former and the problem lies with the data included with the backup, restoring from the backup will also restore the problem putting you right back where you started.
