My iPod loses its charge pretty quickly it there something I'm not doing (besides turning "off" the app after I use them I the evening?

I just became the proud parent of an iPhone last week. I'm surprised at how fast I lose my charge during its normal use everyday. I charge it every night, is that too much? Do I need to let it go completely drained before recharging it each night? I do remember to "turn off" the apps I use every evening. Is there something else I should be doing? Do I need to take off some apps if they might be draining the battery? Thanks, Trish

Allow the battery to be completely depleted before charging the battery is worse for the battery than charging more often. I connect my iPhone to a power source whenever possible so when I take off, the battery is closer to being fully charged or fully charged. I leave my iPhone connected to a power source every night. When the battery is fully charged while remaining connected to a power source, charging stops.

iPod touch lost in snow 2 mos, found yesterday songs played ok today charged fully but lost charge very quickly. What can I do to try to fix this myself before sending it in for repair?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Why does IPod lose its charge while plugged in sleeping iMac?

May you help me to see if it is a problem with my iPod and need to exchange it or am I doing something wrong?

I personally find it not practical if I would like to charge it over night. So from what I understand, I should only charge it while I am working on the computer
Then buy a new laptop.  I have a Toshiba P755 that has "hot ports" that will charge a USB device while the laptop is powered OFF.
Or, you could spend far less money and buy a wall charger...

  • My iPod Touch 32 GB 4th Genereation is stolen. I didnt not remember to turn on the Find My IPhone App in my Settings. Is there anyway that I can track down my Ipod Touch by using the serial number on the casing or anyother solutions?

My IPod Touch 32 GB 4th generation was stolen. I didnt put the Find My IPhone to enabled. Is there an solutions of how i can track my IPod down? Please help?

i can probably answer this part for you. in our bills and laws the privacy act was added. this made it so information among other things cannot be attained without a warrent or permission of the person being "searched or in this case located". if apple were to merely locate the ipod without the proper paperwork and authorities involved they could face serious fines aswell as jail time. so even though your ipod was stolen by someone else it is now in their possesion and therefor you cannot turn a feature on to locate it without that persons permission. however the way the "find my ipod app" works is it is designed to locate the ipod alone. this is why it can be activated by the owner with their permission. you can get the police involved however without knowing who stole it the warrent cannot be obtained. im sorry but i hope this helped you understand this isnt apples fault but laws are laws.

  • My Galaxy SIII just recently started to lose its charge more frequently

In the past week, I have noticed that my phone has started to lose its charge more frequently than it has in the past.  I fully charged my phone last night around 7 pm and usually that would last me all day today.  I woke up this morning and had already discharged so much and was in yellow, needing to be recharged.  I uninstalled a few apps that I had on there that I hadn't used.  But the charge has been great since I've had this phone.  Any ideas as to why this just started happening?  Do I need to change something in my settings?

I've got exactly the same problem. I tried my other SIII battery (I had bought a spare) and same problem. At another website:
Following installation of the Verizon Jelly Bean update people said that the battery of the Samsung Galaxy S3 started to drain faster when the handset was doing nothing overnight. So we took the version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 from Verizon on Jelly Bean and charged it fully. The battery went down overnight to around 898%, by 7am in the morning. We then did the same with the device that is still running ICS (Cricket Samsung Galaxy S3) and checked it at the same time. We found out that it had gone down to 96%. There is no way of being sure why this happens, however you can turn off Google Now location services. Apparently Google Now and it services may be checking more often ever since Jelly Bean was installed.
I haven't called VZN yet to inquire. Anyone know for sure what's happening -- and more important, how to fix it!

  • Why does my Ipod say its charging when it isn't reseaving any power?

I read every article on the support part of the apple website and nothing could help me. My Ipod touch is a 3rd generation and has 32 gigs, if thats relavent at all. So, my Ipod has a picture of a dead battery with a lightning bolt on it, and it only shows when its charging. The apple support said that picture means that the Ipod is charging, but is so dead that it cannot function, and to let it charge for 30 minutes and it should be better. It sat on a wall charger (a usb outlet that is plugged into the wall) for 3 days now and theres been no progress. So why does my Ipod say its charging when it isn't reseaving any power?
I've tried 2 wall chargers, and tried connenting it to all three of my computers, and tried about 4 differant charger cords. On all of them the Ipod says its charging, but it isn't getting any charge. So I don't believe its a severed power cord. I have also reset it a few times, and it won't show the apple sign, only the same battery/lightning picture.

It could also be the charging circuit in the iPod. The Genius Bar is free. You could try to replace the battery yourself but that may not fix it.

  • My iPad is losing its charge very quickly

i used to be able to keep my iPad going for two days on one charge.  Web browsing or checking email would only drop it 1 or 2 %.  All of a sudden - with no apparent reason - the battery is draining like crazy.  It will go down 15% in30 minutes when I'm not doing ANYTHING!  I took it in to the Apple Store and they said the battery was fine.  Has anyone else had this problem?  It's an iPad 3 that I bought in January of this year.  The battery worked great until a week or so ago.

    Try turning off the following:
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Push>OFF
    Settings>Notifications>Mail>Gmail>Notification Center>OFF
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch New Data>Off

  • How do I turn off the Ipod Charging Tone?

Firstly please don't say by turning down the sound slider because if I do I can't play the music on my ipod whilst it's charging.
Right the situation is that my iPod touch is connected via usb in my car so I can play music on the move, also as a bonus my iPod is charging at the same time, but here's the problem because it is charging not only do I get the music from the iPod I also get the annoying charging tone through the speakers. I can't find a setting for this specific tone in the settings, and searches would suggest that it can't be turned off. I do hope this is not the case becasue if it is it's madness. Also if I connect via aux cable if the usb is connecting ie the iPod is charging I still get the charging tone trilling it's merry way.
How can I turn off this tone. I know I can disconnect the usb ie stop the charging but that defeats to object as I then gradually use up the power meaning on long journeys I have to either dispense with the iPod or put up with the tone. Also when I get to my destination instead of having a fully charged iPod I am already down on power.
    HELP?

Okay, well I'm still not aware of any iPod which repeats the charging tone. Have you checked in the Connector recess of your iPod to make sure there is no muck in there, or that there is no damage to the connector pins? This is because I still think that the connection between the cable, dock or whatever and the iPod is not staying "made". In other words, the connection is disconnecting and reconnecting and every time it reconnects, the beep sounds.
Can you watch the iPod's display? When charging, the battery symbol shows the lightning bolt or, when full, the plug in the battery. Does that change to the battery only just before the charging beep? If so, that suggests that the connection is being repeatedly broken and re-made. Also check the cable (just in case).
If you cannot solve this I think there are two options available to you.
    Ask any of your friends (who have an iPod Touch with the same iOS version on it) if their iPod does the same as yours; if they are aware of a setting for this and if so, how to turn it off, or;
Make an appointment at the Genius bar of your local Apple store and see if they can sort this out.
Like you, I do not see the "change with buttons" option mentioned by kartabyaa, although I only have iOS 4.2.1 on my Touch. (I don't believe the iOS version is different to mine in this respect, but if you ask someone with the same iOS version as you, that should help confirm or refute what the iPod can and should do.)

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • HT5463 I have an iPhone5,iPad 3 & my daughter an iPod Touch 4th generation. We use Do Not Disturb. It turns by itself at 9:30pm & off at 7:00am. This morning, none of them turned off automatically. I manually backed them up to iTunes yesterday. Any though

I have an iPhone5, and an iPad3 and my daughter has an iPod touch 4th generation and her and I have separate accounts. I backed them up to my PC to iTunes last evening as I do every few weeks. We both use the Do Not Disturb option. Quiet hours are from 9:30pm to 7:00am. The 3 devices always turned the Do Not Disturb on and off according to the schedule on their own. As of this morning, the Do Not Disturb did not turn off on any of the devices. I sync them with iCloud either manually or when charging them. The moon icon stayed on all day today and did not follow the schedule. I had to shut it off manually on my phone. Any thoughts. My daughter initially had used her iPod Touch under an Apple account I made with my information. When I got my iPad and then iPhone5 I created a different account for her. Some items of mine went on her iPod Touch yesterday when I backed them up on iTunes on my PC. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

It seems to be a glitch or bug. Its been officially acknowledged and addressed by Apple. There is no resolution other than waiting for a few days.   The Kb article by Apple states it will fix itself on January 7.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4510
    Symptoms
After January 1st, 2013, Do Not Disturb mode stays on past its scheduled end time.
    Resolution
Do Not Disturb scheduling feature will resume normal functionality after January 7, 2013. Before this date, you should manually turn the Do Not Disturb feature on or off.
To turn off the scheduling feature, tap Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb and switch Scheduled to Off.

  • Is there a (relatively simple) way to skip tracks with an iPod touch 5th gen using a physical button? I'm aware songs can be skipped on-screen without unlocking the iPod, but I'm looking for a method that doesn't require taking my eyes off the road.

Is there a (relatively simple) way to skip tracks with an iPod touch 5th gen using a physical button? I'm aware songs can be skipped on-screen without unlocking the iPod, but I'm looking for a method that doesn't require taking my eyes off the road while driving. For that reason, I'm also not interested in adding in headphones or additional devices that have the desired button functions. Going both forward and back would be great but I would be pleased just to have a "sight-free" way to go forward.
I've seen some mention here and there about ways to maybe change it so the volume buttons change tracks and holding the volume buttons changes the volume... but I don't know what's involved in that or if its even possible/recommended for a new 5th gen iPod. I think its a great device but its sadly lacking in music oriented functions and features... which is disappointing since music is why most people would bother getting one instead of some other "iDevice" :/

Given that you cannot do what you have asked for, perhaps you simply need to find another solution to your root problem.
Presumably, you want to skip to the next track because you don't want to hear the current one, and that is because...
    You don't like it.
You've heard it recently and don't want to hear it now.
Simply don't want to hear it at this time.
For problem number 1. Don't put it on the iPod in the first place. (I know, obvious answer!)
For problem number 2. How about playing from a Smart Playlist (initially created in your iTunes Library) which has only songs you've not played recently?
For problem number 3. Hhhmmm! Create alternative Playlists for use in the car.
As for going back to the start of the "now playing" track.... Well, if your Playlist has only songs that you really, really want to hear, then you'll be looking forward to that rather go back to the beginning of the current song.
I'm not trying to be prescriptive, just giving you food for thought.
(They are all cheaper options than buying a car which can control the iPod from the steering wheel.)
