My iPod mini lost its mind

Hi,
first of all the battery is working fine, no deterioration. Whenever I synchronize the iPod everything works fine for a while; any songs purchased via iTunes can be played.
After about 2 or 3 days (without sync in between) my Mini is skipping all purchased songs. It looks like the old "authorize & de-authorize" issue but it's not.
If I sync the iPod we're back to normal until like 2-3 days later.
The Mini is now about 3 years old so it might be a battery issue, however, haven't seen any other problems with the battery. Anybody with an idea?
And yes, I played all the de-authorizing and iTunes library games; didn't work.
Thanks
Etsu

My mini turns itself on even when the Hold button is on, and I also have the alarm and calendar turned off. I've done the 5 Rs, retuned to factory setting, etc. No help. The thing is possessed, I tell you! Started happening about 2 weeks after the warranty was up. Go figure.

    I upgraded to a new Ipod and have my Ipod Mini gathering dust. I want to get my Dad into the modern age and set him up with the Mini but dont have the software disk that came with it. He has a windows XP. What would I need to do to get him up and running. Will just downloading Itunes do it? How can I clear my tunes out of it to give him a clean slate? I dont think he would appreciate my music.
    Thanks In advance....

  • Ipod mini on its way out?????

    Hi guys! probs with my mini!!
    It keeps refusing to play purchased content from itunes! I plug it into the pc, and it plays them fine again, then the next day, it wont again! This keeps happening!! Any ideas?

    See if this helps.

    If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this test:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
    If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

  • My iPod has lost its app store HELP!!

    I just backed up and wiped my iPod. Then I Jailbroke it.Now my app store is gone....HELP PLEASE!!

    this kinda happened to me when I jailbroke my iPad but later I figured out the app store icon was just invisible. But if your app store is really gone I suggest that you reset your iPod and download the software from iTunes from computer to your iPod, or hold the sleep/wake button until the red slider comes and respring your iPod.

  • My iTunes has lost its mind

    I am having much trouble syncing.
    Currently my iTunes says my phone has 7 songs synced (I have about 1000).
    I unchecked the photo sync and it took away the music storage on the storage status bar.
    It won't sync the selected artists I asked for and instead keeps everything. I've attached a photo of this.
    I have not had a successful sync in months. I re-downloaded the program and I occasionally get error 52 when attempting to sync.

    *Is there a way of getting the iTouch info back to Itunes which currenlty shows as blank*
    There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from the regular iPods. These two are advertised as iPod Touch compatible:
    iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

  • Media Browser lost its mind... can't find iPhoto

    I haved used Garageband extensively for my podcast. Today when I went to add artwork to my cast, the Media browser no longer can find my iPhoto images. The media browser says:
    Launch iPhoto 2 or later to populate this list.
    O.K. Well, I'm running GarageBand 3.02 and iPhoto 6.0.4 and so I don't know what the problem is. I oppened both programs. Tried starting one before the other. Restarted. All the obvious things but still nothing.
    Anybody got an idea of what has happened?
    Thanks!!!
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    The Media Browser enables you to share your movie easily with iDVD, GarageBand, Logic Pro, Word, Powerpoint, Keynote, Pages, etc. You access the Media Browser from within these apps.
    If you want to see the raw files that make up the finalized movies in the Media Browser, go to the Movies/iMovie Projects folder in the Finder. Right click on your project and select Show Package Contents. Now open the folder called Movies. They should be in there.
    You should be able to share to iTunes directly, but when you do, it should put copies in the Media Browser automatically. If a Media Browser copy already exists when you share to iTunes, it should just send that copy over to iTunes.
    To get to iTunes, click SHARE/to iTunes. You can also drag your movie into iTunes as well.

  • Powershell terminal loses its mind

    Hello All,
    I have been experiencing a very frustrating condition on powershell that I can't find an answer for nor a remedy against it.
    I am hoping you all will be able to help me identify the issue and a resolution for it.
    Goal: write a script that contains an array of hosts. The goal is to mount a drive to the remote system, then grep (select-string) for a particular pattern and return the results.
    Situation: When mounting to a foreign remote host, if the host doesn't exist, or 'the network path is not found' the powershell terminal will lose its mind and any subsequent mounting of other hosts in the array will fail. This failure continues even if
    I were to stop the script and run it against hosts that have previously been successful. Only by terminating the powershell terminal and restarting the script will it successfully mount to the remote system and retrieve the grep results.
    Since the same code works on a previously unsuccessful host after the reinitialization of the powershell terminal I am confident it is not due to my code.
    foreach ($hostCheck in $arrHostsToCheck) {
         net use z: /delete
         # first check and make sure the target system is up and alive
         $ping = Get-WmiObject win32_pingstatus -computername 127.0.0.1 -Filter "address='$hostCheck' AND buffersize=3"
         #host was not up
         if ($ping) {
              if ($ping.StatusCode -ne 0 -OR $ping.StatusCode -eq $null) {
                   $patternCheckResult = $hostCheck+"`t`t IS NOT RESPONDING, COULD NOT BE CHECKED, SKIPPING..."
                   # write the result to the output file
                   $patternCheckResult | Out-File -append $outputFile
                   # skip to the next iteration of the foreach loop
                   continue
         else {
              # skip to next iteration of the foreach loop
              continue
         # if alive, go ahead and map out the drive to retrieve the logs ( i had to remove the /\\$hostCheck inorder to post this)
         net use z: "$hostCheck\C$\ProgramData\Vendor\Appdirectory1\Appdirectory2\Appdirectory3\Logs"
         # determine which log file is the current log
         $mostRecentLogFile = Get-ChildItem -path z: | Sort-Object LastAccessTime `
                                         -Descending | Select-Object -First 1
         $getThisFile = "z:\"+$mostRecentLogFile
         # grep the contents of the log file to find the desired text
         $patternCheckResult = Get-Content $getThisFile | Select-String -pattern $searchPattern
    ... result manipulation and formatting ...
         # print the results to a file
         # clean up (remove mount point, and remove variables so next loop iteration is starting off fresh).
         net use z: /delete
         Remove-Variable patternCheckResult
         (more removals...)
    #good run result for hostX
    hostCheck =  hostX
    PingStatusCode =  0
    mounting Z drive to hostX
    The command completed successfully.
    mostRecentLogFile =  Router-20141102-152527.log
    getThisFile =  z:\Router-20141102-152527.log
    #for one reason or another, the script can't establish the mount point with hostY and hostZ, all subsequent attempts fail even if the other systems should connect.
    hostCheck =  hostY
    PingStatusCode =  0
    mounting Z drive to hostY
    mostRecentLogFile =
    getThisFile =  z:\
    aliasFlag =  0
    patternCheckResult(post) =
    hostCheck =  hostZ
    PingStatusCode =  0
    mounting Z drive to hostZ
    mostRecentLogFile =
    getThisFile =  z:\
    ####   so now, if I kill the script, and start it again, hostX was previously successful, but now fails after the powershell terminal lost its mind)
    hostCheck =  hostX
    PingStatusCode =  0
    mounting Z drive to hostX
    The command completed successfully.
    mostRecentLogFile =
    getThisFile =  z:\
    aliasFlag =  0
    patternCheckResult(post) =
    z: was deleted successfully.
    ### close the powershell terminal and rerun the script and hostX will return successfully
    Questions:
    (1)  Why does powershell lose its mind when it can't mount to a remote computer, or if the directory mount point may not exist on the system?
    (2)  Why wouldn't the powershell terminal be able to fail gracefully for that bad host or path and then the subsequent hosts that are correct be successful?
    (3)  What can I do to remediate this flaw when I am dealing with a list of systems that possibly may not have the file path installed or the system isn't accessible?

    Thanks for the pointers,
    But in looking over your script versus mine, I see a bit more finese.
    Test-connection versus my ping check with a WMIObject. (good to know).
    The most important addition you gave was identifying the unnecessary net use mounting aspect.
    I didn't know you could do it the way you did it, but once the mount was complete the commands were basically identical.
    Grep the pattern and write it to an output. Our network had some oddities that I had to account for but all in all I wouldn't say my script was crap. Just not as finesed as yours.
    YOU DID provide me with the key to eliminating the nagging problem of mounting the drive so thanks. Much appreciated.
    It still doesn't answer the question. If the code works for and produces the desired results obviously it has the right basic components. If it encounters some oddity on one of the hosts and the terminal crashes without any notification, without
    any error messages, and subsequent hosts (even known previous successful ones) fail.
    It doesn't give you much to base your analysis on? Where it is failing is under the covers. it is PFM at that point. So i would expect it to fail gracefully or at least give some adequate feedback to assist the developer in determining
    where they went wrong.
    I never implied I was perfect. What I was implying, that for certain cases the script does as expected. Therefore once it has encountered its unrecoverable oddity, and no warnings or other notifications were forthcoming, I would expect it to be able
    to continue and handle other 'good' hosts. Or at a miniumum give me some type of notification of what it doesn't like.

  • IPod touch lost music. Won't sync with iTunes

    my iPod touch lost its music.  It will not sync with my iTunes account

    Hi LittleBear,
    Can you describe your problem further? Are you getting any error messages in iTunes? Just appearing to sync as normal?

  • Please help my old ipod mini!

    my IPod mini is about 5 yrs old and still great up until now. I never did updates on my itunes and ipod but never had a problem.
    I finally did upgrade to the newest version and some of my music will not show on my ipod. and of course... the songs that won't tansfer are my shared songs. i understand that they cannot be transfered using the new updated version.
    so i unistalled my itunes and installed my original software from my original CD.
    This is the problem.... my itunes is fine but now my ipod is not compatible and will not show in itunes.
    i know i've got myself in a pickle but is there anyway to downgrade my software in my ipod mini to its original version to keep using it the way i have for years?
    Gateway   Windows Vista

    I am not familiar at all with Vista, therefore I would like to make the following suggestion
    Find another computer uninstall the iTunes and iPod updater, connect your iPod with the computer and do the format (not Restore)
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
    Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
    Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
    Once it has completed, install the iTunes and iPod updater from the CD software came with your iPod.
    Connect your iPod with the computer, hope the iPod updater will recognize it and click Restore

  • IPod mini wake up despite hold

    I press the "play" button to turn off the ipod mini and its screen.
    Then I move the "hold" button to disable all buttons.
    After a day or two, ipod mini will suddenly wake up (its screen is on) and music can be played.

    You most likely have an alarm set.
    To check go to extras/clock/alarm and set it to off. Check the calendar also, extras/calendar/alarm.

  • Original IPOD Mini Battery

    I have been having a problem with my IPOD mini since 2007 and figured since it was past warranty why bother.  But I now want to know the answer since my other IPODs are doing it now. It indicates that it needs to be charged, I charge it until it reaches 100% then I try to use it and it plays 1-3 songs then stops working indicating it needs to be charged again. It only works if I plug it in and use it plugged in. Any ideas what might be wrong with me or the IPOD?

    Interesting fact about the iPod mini.  Its tiny "Microdrive" is compatible with standard compact flash cards.  So, you can give it a flash upgrade.

  • Listening from iPod mini while connected

    My computer speakers are broken so I was wondering how to listen to the music from my iPod mini while its connected to my computer and I'm doing stuff in iTunes. I can't find an option in iTunes and I've tried plugging the headphones straight into my computer but no luck. any ideas?

    You will need to set the iPod to manually update your music. Then you will be able to listen to your iPod when it's hooked up to your computer.
    If you're running iTunes 7.0 just follow these directions.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/7.0/en/2580.html
    You'll then be able to browse and listen to your music on the iPod like you would if it was on your computer.

  • Ipod mini freezes and dies

    My ipod mini, which I have had since January 2004, has recently started freezing during songs and then completely shutting off. When it freezes the music coming out of the ear buds sounds like a scratched CD and then a moment later it will completly freeze and shut off. When the ipod mini does shut off, the only way I can restart it is if I hold down the menu and select buttons on the click wheel (it won't respond to plugging into a power outlet or my computer). Also, when it does shut down, there is plenty of battery, so i figured that that was not the problem.
    I went to the apple store and they told me to restore the ipod mini to its original factory settings and that didn't work. I also read a post on this forum that said to hit the back of the ipod when it begins to skip and freeze. That did not work either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    yes i have the same problem!
    but i've had my ipod for only 5 days!!
    and it's a new one because the previous one had the same problem, so i got a new one instead.
    which ***** because it's broken !!
    aaargh !!
