My ipod mini won't turn on at all after battery lost power....

I've had it for about three years, but i haven't been using it very often in the past year.I've been charging it every so often in the past few months, and it's been in pretty good working condition. However, I was unable to charge it two days ago, resulting in the warning sign of the battery losing power after I turned it on yesterday. In the night, I plugged it into my adapter, but no response at all showed up; not even a sign to say it was charging/still low on power. I tried the reset option, plugging it out and back in, but the screen was still blank. This morning, still nothing, and I don't have access to my own pc until later on (to try to connect it there)...suggestions, anyone? I'm at a loss here, besides the possibility that it might be time to replace the battery...

I still didn't find the "Answer" and "Solution" that are listed for this question, but I did go through most of the "5Rs" - and now it's working!!!! (I think!) - anyway - it woke up and it's charging. I did have to try Reset and Retry (repeatedly), then Restart my computer - and update a bunch of stuff I thought I'd already updated, and also update iTunes. I weas set to go to Reinstall (even though so far the iPod appeared to be invisible to my computer). While I was checking the iTunes Help link on how to select my (invisible) iPod - all of a sudden it woke up!!!!
So, Angel - thank you for inspiring me to keep trying - and maybe when you get to your computer, it will work out? I sure hope so!

even though I try to charge it it wont charge and it wont turn on.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

You can work through the five 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of corrupted software.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • Ibook G3 won't turn on at all after OS X 4.11 update

I downloaded OS X 4.11 and Quicktime updates a few days back. The computer rebooted after installation, and I used it for a few more hours then shut down. Since then, it won\t turn on at all. No chimes, no grey or blue screen--just no response. I have tried most of the solutions suggested on these pages: taking out the battery <which is fully charged>, resetting PRAM and PMU, various keyboard combinations--but nothing has worked. Of course the computer is not under warranty and I am overseas in Turkey, so I'm skeptical about getting any hardware fixed from here. Any help you could offer would be appreciated. For now I am just resigned to waiting several days and hoping it works again...

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
When you say you've tried all the support, do you mean you've tried everything listed in this Apple Knowledge Base article?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=50959
If so, the last step suggest taking it in for service.
Since you live in the Bay Area, you could take it to DT & T Computer Services in Fremont. They are not Apple Authorized, but do free diagnostics, are extremely competitive in pricing on repairs, and have a six-month warranty on any repairs they do.
    Good luck.

  • Nokia 5800 XpressMusic won't turn on at all after ...

I've been trying without success to install the new firmware update. I've tried re-installing using the Nokia Software Updater, but kept getting Device Recovery errors and the phone turned off and lost its connection.  After reading other posts, I did a soft reset on my phone then re-installed the firmware without anymore Device Recovery errors.
However, now the phone WON'T TURN ON AT ALL! When I press and hold the Power On/Off button on the top, it makes a buzzing sound, but the screen stays dark and doesn't turn on.
Before you ask, the phone battery was fully charged.
Help! My 58000 is totally unusuable. How do I get it to power on?

I had exactly the same problem with my 5800XM.  Twice!
I have now got the supplier of the phone to send me a new one free of charge, and can only hope that they do so.
I'd really like to know what might cause such a problem.  Perhaps it was just a faulty phone?  If anyone has any suggestions on what might have caused it, so I can avoid the same thing happening again, I'd be very grateful!  It happened once after I used the mass transfer facility to add music to the phone, and the other time was when I tried reloading the hardware after the shortcut buttons on the home sceen stopped working.
If thr problem might have been caused by something I'd installed on the memory card, I suppose I'll jut have to start again from scratch, rather than trying to get the files I'd backed up back again...

  • My iPod mini won't turn on

I tried everything it said to do in the manual, but it still won't turn on. Anyone have any ideas on what to do?

Are you sure you're resetting properly?
Sometimes people find it easier to hold the MENU and SELECT (center) buttons at the same time if they set the iPod on a flat surface. Make sure you hold them for 6 - 10 seconds until the Apple logo pops up. It may take several attempts and is best performed while connected to power.
    Cheers!

  • IPod Mini Won't Turn Off

HELP! The iPod mini (about three months old, 4GB) will not turn off. It was fine until today. I have followed all the rest instruction, but it's still stuck on "on". The guidance in in the on-line mannual is -- well, you guessed it -- useless. Any ideas?

First make sure you have not locked it or put it on
hold, (check the top of it to see).
If that does not work try to hold down the pause/play
button for a few seconds, or reset it by holding down
the menu button and the select button for a few
    seconds.
    Hope that I helped you.
Thanks for suggestion, but that was in the PDF instructions, so that was the first thing I tried. Anyone with any other ideas?

  • Ipod mini won't plays songs, keeps skipping

I've had my ipod mini for the last year but 4 to 5 months ago it stopped working and I'm just now finding the time to deal with this. My ipod is a mess and I'm not sure if it can even be fixed without some technician messing around with it but any help would be GREATLY appreciated. This is a long one...
    The problem was:
When I selected a song from a playlist (or any category) to play it, the song information would pop up on the screen and it would play the first milisecond of the song and then the next song on the list would pop up and the ipod would do the same thing. It would do this over and over for every song on the playlist until it reached the end of the list. It did this for every category. I restarted it and NOTHING worked. But at least it turned on then. Now it doesn't.
    The problem now:
I reset my ipod and took all of the songs off of iTunes, just in case. When I tried to turn the ipod back on, the folder with the exclamation point alert popped up and now the ipod won't turn on at all.
I put songs back into iTunes and tried to update my ipod and iTunes said that it was importing the songs but the ipod still won't turn on. I reset it once again just in case and I didn't put any more songs in it because that just seems to make it worse. So now the ipod has no songs in it and it still won't turn on.
It keeps giving me the same alert after a few minutes of the apple symbol and I've plugged it into my computer and it says that it's charging but it will do nothing else but charge.

step 1: try to restore it. this will remove everything on the ipod. then it will make sure it is current and nothing will be left on the ipod. then, just reload your music

  • My ipod mini won't switch on and i cant live without it !

My ipod mini won't switch on. I had been having problems for a few weeks before, transferring song lists to my ipod from the pc, showing the message "attempting to copy to the disk failed. An unknown error occured (-36)". I don't know if this had anything to do with my current problem. After un-installing and re-installing the latest version of installer, I went to switch my ipod on a few days ago and all that it showed on the screen was about half of the battery charging icon that usually fills the screen. I switched the ipod off again but when I tried to switch it back on, nothing happened. please help !

  • Ipod mini won't charge from mains.

My ipod mini won't charge from the mains lead or a dock but works fine with the usb lead. I've tried different leads, sockets and resetting it but nothing works. It's a pain because if I go away from home for any length of time, I need to take my laptop just to charge it up.
    ipod mini   Windows XP

I say try a different charger. When I wanted to avoid having to take my laptop everywhere, I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BNZLGE/ref=pdcp_etitle/002-2209999-2570423?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=172282
and it's worked fine in the six months I've had it... and besides it would cost under $10 to find the root of the problem, much more than Apple would charge, that's for sure.

  • Ipod shuffle won't turn on sometimes

My ipod shuffle is fully charged right now and it doesn't turn on at all, the only way i could get it to turn on is if i plug it into a usb port and press play, otherwise it won't turn on at all. PLZZZZZ help me

All I can recommend is you try Restoring the software load in the Shuffle.
That said, how do you know that it is turning on when plugged into the USB port? And how are you playing it while on there anyway?
