My ipod nano 1g wet!!!!!!

hey guys..............
i've got a problem, my ipod got wet ...............
and now i can't turn it on and it can't connected to my macbook!!!!!!
is there anyway to repair my ipod???????
p.s. my ipod is ipod nano 1g and sorry for the bad english, i'm an indonesian

I don't know how long ago it got wet, but putting small electronics like that in rice to soak up the water actually works. I've done it with my cell phone, and one of my friends did it for her mp3 player. However, it may be too late for this option.

  • Any one had problems with IPOD Nano getting wet from sweating while exercising. It will kill your Ipod so beware.

Ipod nano will stop operating if it gets wet from sweating while exercising. Beware, sweat will kill your nano and apple will not cover it under warranty. So don't let it get wet.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod nano 4th generation wet water washer washing machine

I accidentally left my ipod nano 4th generation in my gym shorts pocket and it went through the washer and dryer.  It was not responding and seemed to be broken.  I was very upset because I have had this nano for a long time.  I found a video online that showed me how to fix it.  I submerged my ipod in isopropyl alcohol for a few minutes, then placed it in a bag of rice overnight, then charged it the next day, and it worked.  It still has a water stain on the screen but works fine.  Here is the video youtube.com/watch?v=OYE8LK2w3YM   The video says to use 99.9% isopropyl, I used 70% and it worked.  Hope this helps.

You should have let the iPod dry out for a few days by putting it in a back up dry rice to help absorb some of the moisture.  It's likely that your iPod is beyond normal repair via a reset or restore so you'll need to have your iPod serviced, either by Apple or a third party repair company.

  • Ipod nano randomly turns on, pauses music & won't stay off

I got an iPod Nano 6th(?) Gen in August. It didn't get used for another month - loaded it with tunes in September. After about a month of intermittent use, it started to randomly pause music without touching it in any way. I also noticed that, even though the iPod wasn't being used daily, it rarely had enough charge to play for more than an hour. After paying close attention one day after turning it off, it just jumped back on without my touching it.  Disturbing to say the least - brand new gift, hardly used and not working right after only a couple months.
It was suggested by online and telephone support that the iPod be reset by holding down the keys; then reset, wiped clean and reloaded in iTunes (phone support).  Neither of these fixes worked.  Very upsetting.
In November I filled out a service request and sent my Nano back via UPS.  I am beyond livid at this point as #1 - their tracking page tells you nothing #2 - I almost didn't get my iPod back as they never notified me it was shipped via FedEx requiring someone to be home to sign for it(!) and #3 - my device was denied repair/replacement because they're saying that the LCI (liquid contact indicator) was pink, indicating that my iPod had been submerged in liquid causing the internal damage.  I was told that I had to bring it to an authorized Apple place and they could replace it for me for $65 which is about half of what my husband paid for the thing.
Um, unless this spill or submersion happened right before they sealed it in the box it never got wet.  I think this touch-Nano is defective from the posts seen here and Apple is looking for a way to not replace/repair at their cost.  Maybe their LCI is hypersensitive?? I might have breathed on it or maybe it couldn't take the humidity in August when it was given to me... If a device is to be sold for use by the average, active person (it has a pedometer for Criminy's sake) maybe it shoudn't be so sensitive to "wetness".

Call Apple Customer Relations-1800-767-2775.  Explain to them exactly what you stated in your post.
     Good luck!

  • IPod Nano turns itself on, and won't stay off

    Hi, everybody!
I've had my iPod Nano for about two years now, and have noticed this problem occasionally, but it usually goes away and it has never been this bad.
Here is one scenario: I turn my iPod off by holding the play button. The screen fades to black. I move to set my iPod down, and it immediately lights up again. I press and hold the play button, but instead of turning off, the iPod begins to play music. I pause the song and press and hold again. The iPod fades to black, but again lights up the minute I move my hand.
Here is another scenario: the iPod has been off for several hours. Suddenly, it lights itself up. I pick it up and turn it off, but it again continues to light up as it sits on the desk.
This, of course, runs down the battery--I've had to charge my iPod every day for the past few days because it kills itself, waking up over and over when I'm not around to turn it off again. I'm used to only needing to charge it every few days.
I've tried setting the hold switch once I do get it to sleep, but all that means is that I then have to take it out of hold again a few seconds later to turn it off when it lights itself up. I've restarted over and over, but it keeps happening. I've also recently restored it, with no results. I don't have any alarms set, and there is nothing on my iPod but music and album artwork--no calendar, etc.
It seems to do this most when I am moving around the room. I'm wondering if, somehow, it has become hyper-sensitive and is waking up because it thinks it's being touched? (That sounds so creepy.) It also wakes up instantly if I touch the USB port on the bottom. But of course it also must do this when I'm not around, because often I'll come into the room to find the battery 50% lower than it was when I left. (And I'm the only one who uses my iPod.)
As I said, this has happened before over the two years of its life, but over the past three days or so, it has become nearly constant. I haven't dropped the iPod, it hasn't gotten wet, I haven't done anything unusual with it, so I am at a loss to explain the sudden recurrence of the issue.
I'd appreciate any kind of help!

  • IPod Nano white screen of death - RESURRECTED! :D

Alright, here's the deal...A friend of mine has a new iPod Nano and gave it to me because it had stopped working, and was hoping it was worth something to recover. Sorry about the long story!
It _wouldn't_ turn on. But, when connecting it to the computer via the USB dock cable, it comes on for a few seconds on a grey-whitish screen. Then turns back off, reboots, and tries again. Step 1 step 2. Nothing.
Although, 'Diagnostics mode' or whatnot it is, does work however. It would still be a faint grey screen, but whiter and more vibrant, as if it's saying "Hey, I'm alive! I'm alive!!!" and I can go through settings and make it (sometimes) change colors, and reboot the iPod.
I was thinking since iTunes never recognized it (It was plugged in the whole time) that I would drown in just for the sake of it.
Well, 3 hours later after attempting to kill the poor thing, it... resurrected itself.
I'm serious, it really seems to have unbelievably done it. When turning it on, I get 2 beeps, but no restart loop, the LCD stays on the white screen though, BUT, here's the good thing.
NOW, I hear the system 'click' sounds when using the buttons and such that it's going through the menu, good news so far! It seems like it because after the 'boot' sequence (it appears to boot very fast, strangely).
The good thing is (kinda) https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1517571?start=0&tstart=0 ... So I suspect that somehow, this method of submerging it under water, letting it dry, blowdrying it, and then leaving it in the heat, somehow restored the SD chip inside of it... possibly only for now... I'm going to use this moment to hopefully get all data off the device, and see for one last time if it's fully restorable...
I have the power! Ok, so I hooked it up to the wall charger (just put the wall connector on the USB cord) and it now beeps two times, and after about 30 seconds or so, I get to the main menu, screen still white, but I can certainly hear the click letting me know I'm 'navigating' the iPod. It doesn't appear to have any music on it, or maybe it does, but I need to connect some earphones first. Or, it supposed to be display the 'sad iPod' icon, but I just don't see it, therefor, I'm blind as to the status of it.
I likely guess it's the battery, since every time I disconnect it, it goes dead. Yep, just looked back, still on. Yep, still menu clicking. Yep, I can start it with no problems now. Any clue what I can try to do to resolve this? Obviously it's turning on, and it seems to be doing something, it boots, (apparently) so that's a good sign.
Please, is there any hope at all in this iPod?  At all?
AND, IT JUST BEEPED 2 TIMES AGAIN! And I was just typing... why did it do this? (Funny thing is, how it still works!) Is that really the menu button clicking? That would explain it, I mean it only plays the menu clicking sound AFTER about 30 seconds of it 'booting' to the iPod firmware, so it obviously has some sort of life to it. If I hook up my earphones... Holy Mac! I hear music! It's alive!!! It's alive!!! Oh my man!!! Yes!
It has hope, in a way!
Atleast, I hope, but it works! Freaking amazing! Jamming to some awesome beats right now, some cool hip hop, sound quality you ask? Great, actually! I don't know how, don't want to know, but it seems trying to kill this iPod actually resulted in it being resurrected? How? Who knows! This is awesome! iPod truly CAN have 2 lives, I guess!
Cool stuff, I swear on that! My favorite song was on here too!
How to adjust the volume on the iPod Nano? I don't care, it's playing at full volume, and it's awesome!
The sad thing is, it still has the white screen of death, and the battery is apparently fried still (or needs a good 24-hour charging).
This iPod has been sitting dead as a dud in the storage room for a good 1 year or so, unused. And now it came back to life in a flash. Unbelievable.
    I love you Apple.

Your problem was moisture. It was wet inside and sitting around for a year let it all dry up.
If you get this kind of thing happening, speed the process up by putting the iPod into a zip lock baggie with a dessicant (you know those little silica pouches) or even some rice to absorb the moisture. Let it sit for a few days and it should dry it all out.

  • IPod Nano 6G Case

    Hi,
I just received my replacement iPod Nano.  I had a generation one and now Apple replaced it with a generation six.  I want to use this for when I go to the gym.
I purchased the arm band for my G1, but the G6 is a lot smaller. I'm looking for two things, some kind of case that will fit on my arm not wrist. A case that will fully enclose the Nano so it will not get wet, as well as a hard shell case so it will not crack the screen from the wear and tear at the gym.  I lift weights too, so I need something that can be worn on my arm not wrist.
    Any suggestions?

we have the same problem! i already tried restoring factory settings twice, it's still not working! I hope this gets resolved soon. Apple, this is so disappointing!

  • Ipod Nano Screen Has 1/2 Inch Horizontal Line Of Odd Pixels

I took my ipod nano on a backpacking trip way up in the canadian rockies. We camped in a tent and my ipod was exposed to below freezing temperatures and possibly high humidity conditions (it rained but the thing never got wet--it is also in a case). After one night i tried starting my nano up and it didn't start the first few times. I realized that it was extremely cold and i warmed it up in my hands for a while and it turned on after a few minutes.
I thought everything was fine a dandy, but a look at my screen made my heart fall: in the middle of the screen, where there was supposed to be writting, there was white. What do i do? Investigate.
I have never really experienced anything like what my ipod is doing, but i only have experience with things like gameboys or psps. Pretty much, when i turn on my ipod, this horizontal bar of "odd" pixels appear a bit darker, and resemble the very first picture/text the ipod displays (pictures in color, white, or text). It looks like the stuff is severely smudged with with something like a picture editor (Photoshop, for instance). To bring more oddness to the table: it doesn't stay like that (it isn't frozen)
On the first time (up in the mountains) it changed to white within a fraction of a second, but as time went on the length of time before that bar turns to pure white lengthens. Nearly a week later, the length of time is nearing a half minute and is becoming less smudged looking. I may also note that it turns to white gradually.
Everything else works just fine . I'd really appreciate help, info, or instructions on how to get my old ipod back! (interesting how we get attached...)
    Cheers,
    Unislash

Okay guys, i know that this is a discussion forum, but i have been very very very patient here . I still have this line of really odd pixels... right in the middle of the screen. Help please 0_0

  • Ipod nano 6th gen touch screen stopped working please help

Everything on the ipod nano 6th gen is working except the touch screen and once it goes to sleep i have to hold the sleep button and the volume down button to turn it back on. I went into the volume -, sleep, volume + menu and went through the tests and in the touch panel error check section it says i have IC error reported: 0xFFFFFFFF. Please help as i have reset and restored and update itunes etc. Do i need to send it in to apple? The touch screen was working at one stage and then i disconected from the computer while it said eject first (this is when the touch screen stopped working) and put the ipod on a different computer. The first computer was windows 7 which i used just to charge it a little and the second one im using is windows vista.

I have had the same problem and changed three Nano's. Each time the fault is diagnosed by Apple as "water damage".
If you take your Nano to one of their maintenance centres they will look into either the headphone socket or the power dock and and tell you that you have infringed the warranty by somehow getting the thing wet.
Basically is a poorly designed piece of kit whereas a simple shuffle is way more robust.
I have given up with my Nano and am now using an old model

  • New Problems with IPod nano - crackle and clicking

    Hi,
I got the IPod nano (2GB) a view weeks ago. I haven't changed anything - only copied mp3 songs and photos on it.
Today suddenly during jogging the nano starts to crackle and click - like an old analog tape. This didn't stop any more even after a lot of resets. I have connected my IPod with USB-2 onto my computer and recharged the accu completely. After disconnecting properly the problem is still the same. Also the buttons and the wheel don't work correctly anymore. Has anybody similar experiences? It seems apple has big trouble and problems with this new product. Maybe the IPod nano isn't fully well-engineered jet.
I am looking forward for your help and suggestions.
    Thanks in advance!
    Your Stephan

    Hi Mike,
and what did you do finally?
Did you bring the Ipod back to
    your dealer for an exchange?
My IPod didn't get wet during
jogging I have carefully kept an
    eye on it.
Is this a general problem with the IPod
    or only with some units?
    Thanks

My New iPod nano 6g, just stop working the screen is freezd in the menu? Pleace HELP!!!

try resetting. Hold down volume down and sleep/wake button until you see apple logo.
If that does not work, connect it to itunes, then restore.
If none of that helps, you may need to contact apple. Has it gotten wet?

  • My very messed up ipod nano

I've had my Ipod nano for about a month, I havent used it that mcuh, havent dropped it, gotten it wet, or anything like that. Since a couple days ago it's had two problems:
When I pick a song other than the Sk8er boi live acoustic EP, it just scrolls through the songs until it gets to it (sk8erboi). the only way I can get it to stop scrolling is by getting out of "Songs" or by putting it on pause, and even then I can only go through the rating, the picture, etc...
The second thing is that at least one of the songs I bought off i-tunes that have the pic of the cd has the picture that goes with the Avril Lavigne live acoustic EP (most of the songs I got off i-tunes are from that cd) instead of it's regular one.
I was wondering if there is a way I can fix it that deosn't involve taking it apart, or should I just get it exchanged?

i would try restoring the ipod, a while ago my ipod was doing some weird things and i restored it using the ipod updater and it works like new now.

I had my Ipod nano 7th Gen factory restored. Nano touch works smooth without any song in-it but after i have any of the songs shifted from itunes, touch buttons get messed up. They don't work. Help me in over coming this issue.

    Hello Rohantm,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod nano (7th generation) touch screen.  I recommend the following steps for the issue you described (you can skip the steps you have already tried):
Touch screen does not accept input
Clean the screen with a microfiber polishing cloth.
Do not wear gloves while using the touchscreen. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it, because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
The current application may be unresponsive; try resetting iPod by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home buttons simultaneously for a least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Sync with iTunes and restore the iPod.
    Issue not resolved
If the issue is still not resolved, please read this information on servicing your iPod.
