My ipod nano 3rd Generation has just stopped working with no warning signs!

It has a black blank screen and is unresponsive to charging when plugged into a USB port and a standard USB mains powered charger that came with my iphone.
I have tried pressing the menu and centre button and nothing happens.
Please help if possible.
Thank you.

How long have you left it to charge? That is a pretty good chance that the battery may just be shot and in need of replacement.

  • HP printer has just stopped working with Airport Extreme

    Hi,
I recently purchased the airport extreme and when I first got it, I set up my HP C4180 to work with it. I was able to print from my macbook pro, my mini and my girlfriend's PC. Just recently, I have been unable to print from any of them. I can print when I plug the USB directly into my MBP but not through airport. It shows up in the Airport Utility but cannot be seen when I try to add it through the printer utility in System preferences. Any ideas how to get it back?
    Thanks

I would suggest reading a number of the recent, similar topics for all the different printer brands. There are two main strategies: the Apple article on rebooting your airport station and printer, and the "Airprintfix" strategy for a particular problem in which your printer starts to print, then hangs after an inch.
I have done both fixes today, as I've had both problems - yours and the partial print one. I'm back in business, after patiently trying out all suggestions on bth my machines.
I've got a Canon pixma 950, and I agree with posts elsewhere that it seems to be a general problem with printing, and not with a particular brand. Hoping for firmware and OSX updates so we can all get back up to speed!

  • IPod Nano 2g buttons/wheel just stopped working

Out of nowhere. I had it plugged into my computer to charge, then ejected it so I could listen to it in bed while charging.
I've done it many times before but it's never crapped out on me like this before. I've tried messing with the hold switch but that didn't do anything. I did a full restore on it and now I'm just stuck on the language select screen, unable to select anything. The wheel and buttons don't do anything.
    Any help?

I just bought a used silver 2gb off ebay and it's doing the same thing. Are you sure the battery is not dead. Leave it on and see how long it lasts. Mine just dies after 30 seconds even plugged in. Stays on language screen and no wheel response. Hopefully somebody else knows.

  • Airplay on iPad has just stopped working with Apple TV2

As of today, Airplay on my iPad with Apps that were working (eg TED, ABC iView) transmitting video and sound to Apple TV2 has ceased working. When the Airplay logo on the iPad app is pressed it remains white, not changing to blue as it normally does.

Thanks for tip. Rebooting iPad fixed it. Apple TV seems very sensitive to connection issues. I have normally have no issues with my iMac, iPod, iPad, and Airport Express connections

  • Ipod nano 3rd generation straight up died.

I possess an ipod nano 3rd generation that just stopped working altogether. The screen is black and no buttons are doing anything. I've had it freeze up to where it stops working and the backlight stays on, all i had to do was wait for it to die then plug it in. This time however is different. No buttons are working, it was at 80% charge when i checked like 2 minutes before it died, and it wont respond to anything. At first i tried what i always do, which is just plug it into the wall and it'll turn back on, but it didnt respond to it. I've had it for almost 5 years and it's had that clear protection case on it the entire time. My computer and even iTunes doesnt recognize it either, it only sees the cord used to plug it in but says theres nothing on the other end. Please respond, i essentially have a very expensive piece of scrap metal now.

Take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • Ipod nano 3rd generation won't turn on

iPod nano 3rd gen.   Suddenly stopped working, Should I assume it is shot or anyone have any solutions.
Was recently working, then a white screen and static.   Wont power on, and iTunes does not recognize it.

    Howdy maggie63,
It sounds like your iPod nano will not turn on, or respond to anything. I want to recommend 2 things here.
First, reset the iPod with these steps:
    Reset
    To reset your iPod:
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
    Tip:
If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
If that does not work I would next try to restore the iPod with iTunes:
    1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
    3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes. If the iPod's display doesn't show "Connected" or "Do not disconnect" you may need to put the iPod into disk mode to proceed.
    4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
    5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod, even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.
    6. A message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator's name and password.
    7. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
    8. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
    9. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

  • So my first iPod 4th generation charger just stopped working and I've only had it for about 2 months! Please help!!!!

My iPod touch 4th generation charger just stopped working and I've only had it for about 2 or 3 months. Please help!!!

Then it should still be under warranty, so make an appointment at your local apple store and have them take a look at it.
If that's not a possibility and you want to troubleshoot, what do you mean by 'just stopped working'? What were you doing? Maybe some more info could help with troubleshooting.

I've run diagnostics. Can't find device. I've tried resetting. The toggle has been turned on and off.

Cable works fine on my other iPod. Reset by pressing menu and center button together for 6-10 seconds. Left it to charge for many hours. Started acting up while running. Suddenly the music stopped playing but my Nike + was still working for the rest of my run. Took it straight it home and plugged it in to the wall to recharge since the battery was fairly low. Looked like it recharged ok but then screen went blank and now does it not show up on iTunes, does not seem to recharge by the wall charger (apple wall charger plugged into a surge protector in India). I have turned the hold switch off and on many times.
Sounds like a repair issue, which is not easy to do in India :(

    Hello HernanOtt,
Depends on where you have it serviced.  Here are Apple's repair quotes.

You would probably save a lot of money by having a 3rd party repair company do the job for you instead.  Just do a simple Google search for iPod repair and you'll get a plethora of results.

  • IPod Nano 3rd Generation Battery

I recently won a sweepstakes that included a iPod Nano 3rd Generation.  The iPod was brand new in the box.  The problem is the battery does not hold a charge.  I have left the iPod connected to my MacBook Pro overnight to charge.  When I disconnect the iPod, it instantly turns off.  I know these iPods were produced several years ago.  Am I missing something obvious here or is it just not working because the battery has set idle for 2+ years?
