My ipod nano 4g is stuck at apple screen. reset, reinstall and restore doesnt work.

my friend gave me his old ipod nano 4th gen because he said it was messed up. immediately after you press the play button the apple logo appears and never changes. it constantly stays on the screen. ive restored the ipod to a previous firmware, i've reset the device, ive switched usb ports, ive even went to the extent of resetting my computer because i like this ipod so much. please, if there is any way that you can help me witha solution, that would be greatly appreciated.

Your friend already warned you it was messed up.  You tried your best to fix and nothing worked.  If you cannot find a solution in the user manual, visit iFixit and YouTube for DIY repairs or take your iPod Nano to a repair shop.

  • HT201263 iPod touch 4th gen stuck on apple screen after trying to update ios 6

iPod 4th gen stuck on apple screen after I tried updating to IOS 6. It won't turn off or reset even after updating iTunes to latest version. My iPod doesn't show up when I connect to iTunes. HELP PLEASE!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod nano 7th gen stuck on apple logo screen

New iPod nano 7th gen.  At first attempt to upload songs, was prompted to update software.  So, software was updated and as I was installing software update to the iPod, I got a message stating that the iPod was in the process of a restore (I think this is what it said.  I didn't pay a whole lot of attention as i was not expecting any problems).  I continued with the restore because nothing had been uploaded to the iPod yet so nothing would be lost.  At this point, the device has been stuck on the apple logo screen for a couple of hours now.  The only response I can get from it is when I do a reset.  The screen will black as it should and then go right back to the logo and stay.  Please help.....Son not happy as this was one of his Christmas presents this morning.  Really not looking forward to a trip to the apple store on the day after Christmas.

I am afraid yo need to visit the store and possibly ask for a replacement. In some cases, doing the reset will correct any issues, but by the way you describe it, it freezes with apple logo. Better to get a replacement.

  • Ipod nano 4th gen stuck on apple logo even after restore

okay, i have an ipod nano 4th gen. it gets stuck on the boot logo, (apple logo) every time it tries to restart. i have rebooted, gone into the diagnostics, put it into disk mode, and even restored from there. the computer doesnt recognize the ipod unless in disk mode and no matter how many times i restore or reboot, it does the same thing every time. stuck. please help

Since you have the "exact" same problem, why don't you do any of the following:
If you have AppleCare and/or still under warranty, give them a call.  If not, take your iPod to your local Apple Store or AASP.  Let them properly diagnose the problem and provide you w/a repair estimate.

Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase.   If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod.

  • IPod Nano 4th Gen - Stuck on Apple logo

After not using my iPod Nano (4th Gen. 4GB) for about 4 months, I try to turn it on to find it isn't responding. I figured it was completely dead, so I plug it into my computer to see an Apple logo appear on the screen, and I leave it to charge for about an hour. After charging, my computer still didn't register any usb device. When I disconnected it was stuck on the apple logo. After waiting for a while it was still on Apple logo.
So, I did some reading and put it into disk mode. Once in disk mode it was recognized by my computer, and I promptly restored it. After it was restored I reset the iPod. But, again it was still stuck at the Apple logo screen.
I have repeated this process three times, and each time I reset it after restoring in disk mode, the iPod is stuck at the Apple logo screen.
Any ideas as to why it is doing this?

his is not operating system-specific, but I want to get it on the record somewhere since I could not find the solution anywhere else.
Last week, my third-generation 30GB iPod refused to go beyond the Apple logo on startup. It would power up, flash as if trying to go to the menu, but instead it would just show the Apple again. I tried all the usual recovery methods: resetting (hundreds of times and a couple of different ways), disk scans from the diagnostic menu, restoring with the latest iPod software and with an older version, fsck, using Disk Utility to repair and erase, Disk Warrior, letting the battery drain, everything.
Nothing worked ... until I used Disk Utility to reformat the disk with the "Zero Out Data" option (in the Security pop-up) enabled. This, apparently, reformatted the drive in such a way as to account for bad sectors. It took about an hour.
After that, I restored it with the latest iPod software, and to my delight, it booted normally. It now works fine.
Found that on web mite help you.... but i dont have a mac

  • IPod Touch 2G 32GB stuck on Apple screen, unable to restore

My iPod Touch froze a few days ago. Powering off/on did nothing (I can't turn off using just the power button, have to use Home as well). Hard reset does nothing - it just sits on the Apple screen, without even a progress bar. I let the battery run out, and have charged it again, with the same results.
I was trying to avoid connecting it to iTunes (a whole other story, basically the laptop with my existing iTunes library bluescreened, I thought I had it all backed up but turns out the apps and backups aren't there, we're working on data recovery) but figured that was my only option to restore. Not sure whether the fact I've never connected this iPod to this PC is a problem, but it is not recognising it at all. Not just in iTunes - it's not even registering as a USB device. I have tried forcing it into Restore mode to get it recognised, but it just goes back to the Apple screen and sits there again.
Any ideas? (It's long out of warranty).

More Troubleshooting Steps For Your Consideration:
I was able to restore back to iPhone OS 2 by using a laptop that had not been synced with my ipod touch previously. When I did the DFU with it, iTunes downloaded OS 2 and it worked.
Then I went back to my iMac and proceeded to install OS 3.1.3 and that seemed to work ok too.
I've been getting the white apple logo of death, however, when I try to sync applications. All seems well, but as it is finishing the ipod touch reboots to the White Apple Logo Screen and stays there. iTunes seems oblivious to this taking place.
During my second rebuild starting with OS 2 and then updating to 3.1.3, it worked again. When I tried to add apps, I only put on a dozen. That worked too. I did get the White Apple Logo Screen of Death once again and I did the third sync to get the rest of my apps in place.
I'm on the third rebuild from version 2. I'm going to try to use an old file I have of 3.1.1 instead of 3.1.3. Also, I'm going to add one application per sync. At least this way I might be able to find out if it is a specific app that is causing the problems.
In my further research, it appears that this bug has been in place since the early days of iPhone OS 2.
All told I've spent over week with my computers tied up working on this problem. I think it would have more cost effective to just buy a new iPod. (I'd rather wait for the 4G version this fall!).
Just in case anyone else has been having issues, that is where I'm at. I'll let you know if I figure this issue out in more detail.
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • IPod nano 4th gen stuck on White Screen of Death

So recently my iPod of 4 years has gotten the white screen of death.
I tried doing the restarting. You know. hold the on/off button then hold MENU and SELECT. Nothing. It just blinks the white screen off and then on.
Interest to note: I use my ipod nano in the shower (with dock). Maybe the steam from the shower had something to do with it?
    Anyway, thank you.

I should note that I CAN still use this ipod. I can play songs on it EVEN while my screen is white. Also, when I plug it into my Win7 (32-bit), the iTunes (latest version 1.0.4) recgonizes my ipod and play the songs/playlist from it.

  • Stuck at the "apple screen" after update and restore

I updated my iPhone 4 today to the iOS 7 version, everything went ok, after that i did the "Restore from Backup" option through iTunes, and all went fine.
After it finished the restore the iPhone made a restart, then turned on the apple screen, and after a few seconds apeard a line beneth the apple, it started to fill it in, and when it got to ~70-80% it stucked, for ~30 min already.....
I'v tried to restart the device, and its making the same thing, tried to connect to iTunes and make restore again, and it fails because the iPone is "Busy" with god knows what.....
    Any solution for this problem????
thx in advance for any kind of help!

You can get no support on this forum.  Since you have iOS 7, you're either a developer (in which case, per your NDA you must post in the Developer Forums) or a thief.

  • Ipod nano 4th gen stuck on apple logo (still) after restore

HELP! I tried to turn on my ipod the other day but it wouldn't work - it was stuck on the apple logo screen.
    I have tried:
    - resetting it
    - letting it run out of battery completely then turning it back on again
    - restoring it
but none of these methods worked. It is still stuck on the apple logo screen! So therefore I can't listen to music, and my laptops don't recognise my ipod... because it isn't on properly. The only way I can get laptops to recognise that my ipod is plugged in is by putting my ipod in disk mode.
and so it is still stuck on the apple logo screen. Anybody have any ideas? I have no idea what else to try.
    thanks so much in advance!

i have tried all of that as well and im still stuck on the apple logo. i hit it against a table and everything. Does anyone know what to do?

  • IPod Nano (4th generation) stuck on Apple logo! URGENT HELP!

So it all started out when i had to reset it (which is menu + middle button).
and it never came back from the Apple logo
I have tried every thing! the five steps from Apple (reset, restart, restore, etc.), disk mode, restore..
**BUT I GET NOTHING DIFFERENT FROM THE APPLE LOGO SCREEN!!**
i have tried the tutorial on this page.. http://www.sharp-tools.net/archives/000240.html .. because the guy had my same problem but he resolved it with those steps...
But in the diagnostics mode, he says to test ram & then hit play and blah blah... and then press +fast forward+ to go to DISKMODE entre... in the diagnostics mode i cannot find anything labeled with RAM or DISKMODE.
i already know how to go to the diskmode MANUALLY (reset ipod > center button+play button) and it didnt help either.
some one pls pls pls PLS PLS help!!

  • My ipod is acting so strange? boxes around everything? and wifi doesnt work.

    Hi
Well this morning I turned on my ipod and my internet wasn't connecting so I went to settings >> wi-fi >> and it was off, so I tried turning it on with the off/on slider and when it went to on , the box that comes up to select a network didnt appear. I tried again and it still wouldnt. It isn't on airplane mode either :\
    How do I fix this?
After that I went to General in Settings and I probably clicked something I shouldnt have, now EVERYTHING I tap comes up with a box around it and I have to double app to select things and it is REALLY annoying! I tried going back to General but now I have this stupid box thing I can't scroll down to fix it
What should I do? I wanted to email Apple but I can't find how to.. is it just calling them these days?
    Thankyou very much in advance

It appears that you have VoiceOver or anothr accessibilty feature turned on. Turn them off by:
iPhone: Configuring accessibility features (including VoiceOver and Zoom)

  • My 4th gen Ipod nano keeps getting stuck on the apple logo.

My 4th gen Ipod Nano keeps getting stuck on the Apple logo screen, this happens everytime I plug it in to charge. I plug it in, an apple logo comes up, and it stays like that the entire time its plugged in. To get it to unfreeze, i have to press random buttons and unplug and re plug in earbuds. After 20-25min of doing this it unfreezes and I come to find it has gotten little to no charge after being plugged in for hours at a time. Any one else have this problem, and if so what do you do?

This can be a corrupted software/firmware on your iPod touch. If the recovery mode you did was not forced, then try to force it into recovery mode. This is how:
    1. Force it to shut down (note: this sort of shut down should not be preformed unless you are in a situation like this because it is a hardware shutdown and will not attempt to unload software, save unsaved files, safely stop system processes, etc.) to do this, hold down the power/sleep button and home button for about 7 or 10 secs. Also I might be incorrect but I heard that you can just hold down the sleep and home button until the screen goes blank and then immediately let go.
    2. Have iTunes running. Hold down the home button and plug the USB cable that came with your iPod into it. Keep on holding on the home button until a picture of a USB cable going into the iTunes logo appears. You are now in a forced recovery mode. (In case your not so tech-savvy forced recovery is the same as a normal recovery mode that an iPod might do if it knows an update or restore failed.)
    3. iTunes should have shown a pop-up message about it found a iPod in recovery mode. Click OK, click your iPod from the sidebar and click restore. The iPod will show the apple logo for a while and iTunes will say "preparing iPod for restore" and then "waiting for iPod" this was the longest part of updates for me.
    4. iPod will reboot when restore is completed. When I update my iPod it one time showed the apple logo for one whole sync until it showed the slide to unlock screen, so do not worry. P.S if that does not work do a DFU mode restore ( I've been told DFU mode stands for device firmware update mode) I'm running out of room, so google it. Hope this helped ;)
