    Hi meganisawsome,
If your iPod will not turn on and you are getting indicators that there is no battery left, the first step would be to make sure that the iPod has been charged correctly. You may find the following article useful:

  • My ipod nano 6th generation will not turn on.

My iPod nano (6th generation) will not turn on. I have charged it (attached to my computer) for 30 minutes. I have tried to reset it (held down Wake and Volume Down for 8 seconds)- no response. I have factory restored it (through iTunes)- no response. It shows up as connected to my computer and will sync in iTunes, but the display on the iPod will not turn on. Any ideas?

    Hey s.mccarter2010,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you have tried a lot of things and the iPod still will not turn on. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
    iPod won't turn on
If you have tried the solutions above and iPod still won't turn on, check the following:
Make sure iPod is the only device in your FireWire or USB chain. Disconnect everything but the mouse, keyboard, and your iPod, then see if it will turn on.
Make sure you are using the FireWire or USB cable that came with your iPod, and that the cable is in good condition.
Try connecting iPod to the built-in port of a different computer to see if that works. Note: If using a portable computer, make sure it is plugged in to a power source and that the lid or display is open. If the lid is closed the computer may go into either standby, sleep, or hibernation mode and iPod will not charge properly.
If you still can't turn iPod on after performing these steps, it may need to be repaired. You can arrange for repair at the iPod Service Website.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,

  • My ipod nano 6th generation is not working anymore :( HELP

I have an ipod nano 6th generation. Was working perfectly. One day I wake up and is showing me a screen I have never seen  before..It reads:N20 Snowfox 4A0432
When I plug it, itunes doesnt recognize it. It recognized it once but it says problem 1621 and I follow the instructions but still my ipod is frozen and not even my computer can read it.
I really miss my music for my morning run!

Have a look at comment # 4 and 5 on this page iPod nano 6G diagnostic mode to get it out of this mode again.
Pressing the volume minus button and power button should help.

  • Ipod Nano 6th Generation will not turn on.

My brother bought my mother the new Ipod Nano 6th Gen as a gift yesterday. We plugged in to charge (like the instruction booklet says) and found the Ipod wasn't turning on. Everything on the computer and syncing side works. We managed to register the Ipod and everything like that but when it comes to controlling the actual Ipod, it doesn't seem to be working.
I have tried resetting (Volume Down Button + Sleep/Awake Button) it but still nothing.
The repairing Ipod has been cast on me which is unfortunate because my mother doesn't take things breaking very well and I would rather sort it out for myself than have to hike up to my nearest Apple Store for the Genius Bar to look at it.
I would like to know if this is a problem with the screen or with the actual power in the ipod.
The tiniest of help and I would be very greatful. thanks,
    Ross Jordan.
ps. it has been charging for a good 3/4 hours now.

If you do a restore on it from itunes on your computer and it still does not work....then it's a defective unit and you'll have to take it in for an exchange.
Try to restore first before taking it in.
Here is how you do it:

    Good luck!

  • HT1369 IPod Nano 6th generation sync not working

I've run all the diagnostics, troubleshooting, reset the device.  Device shows as being connected to computer and network.  But, fails sync test.  Help!!...Thanx...Michael

If a restore of the device to factory settings in iTunes, did not resolve the issue, it points to a hardware issue with the display's backlight. This means you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either to Apple or a third party service.  Here is Apple's pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Google "iPod Nano repair" for third party service centers who would actually replace the damage part.

  • IPod nano 6th generation: "Do not disconnect" on white screen w/flashing icon; previously "Connected-Eject before Disconnecting" on dark screen w/USB icon; no content on iPod

Trouble began with "Reconnect to iTunes to Restore" message after I inadvertantly held down the Wake/Sleep button long enough to turn the iPod off before pausing the podcast in progress.
My subseqent actions to try to remedy:
    -Restored the iPod
-while Restoring, the rotating circular arrows and "Synchronizing-Do Not Disconnect" screen appeared followed by "Connected-Eject Before Disconnecting"
-when I ejected the iPod and disconnected it, the normal icons showed but there was no content
-Reinstalled the latest iTunes 11.0.3 which I had downloaded previously a few days before my problems began
-Restored iPod again:  still said "Connected-Eject before Disconnecting"
-Manually put the iPod into Disk Mode (said to be helpful in troubleshooting):  "Do Not Disconnect" on white screen with flashing icon (circle with diagonal line)
    -Ejected and disconnected the iPod.
    -Reconnected the iPod:  same message

You need to either the let the iPod finishing syncing with iTunes, or figure out what application is still using it in the back ground that prevents you from being able to properly eject the device.  Just unplugging it from the computer is almost always going to cause issues when it's still in use by iTunes or another application.
So let's connect the device to iTunes one more time and let it finish restoring.  Then try syncing a bit of content over to it and wait for it to finish the sync process.  Then try to properly eject it from iTunes this time.

  • My iPod nano, 6th generation, will not stop playing and none of the buttons will work

I listen to audiobooks.  My iPod was fine, I just checked how far I was in this chapter.  I checked again 2 minutes later and I cannot get the screen to lite up nor can I control the volume.  But my book continues to play.  I plugged it in to charge with a wall charger, nothing.  I plugged into my computer and again nothing.
It is only 3 weeks old, I use it about between 1-3 hours a day.
    Anyone else have this problem?

Have you tried resetting it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Volume down buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • Display of iPod Nano 2nd Generation does not work. Only backlight - nothing else. Experiences?

The iPod still start and also plays music, but I can't see anything on the display.
I can see the backlight, but not more...
I have reinstalled, recovered and restarted the iPod.
The firmware and iTunes is at the newest version.
Anyone got experience with this? Is there a way to fix it?
    Thanks for your help

Sounds like you have tried all of the regular troubleshooting.  So it points to an issue with your nano's LCD display.  You'll have want to have it repaired/replaced either by Apple or a third party repair company.
