My ipod nano (6th) won't hold volume

My 6th gen. ipod nano won't hold volume, but moves right back to silent after clicking the bar full. I have reset it to factory settings. What else?

If it is that new you may need to take it to apple. Another thing to try is press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Volume Down button simultaneously for at least eight seconds or until the Apple logo appears.

The volume increase button is stuck on my iPod nano (6th Generation) and I can't turn the volume up. Is there a way to fix it?

I have the iPod nano 6th generation, and I have had it since Christmas 2011 so it isn't that old; recently I went to listen to my music and found that the volume increase button is stuck (basically it's like when you press the volume button down to increase the volume, except it is stuck down like that and won't come back up) but it was only stuck about 3/4 of the way down. For about a week this was ok, I just had to press the button harder to make it go down and increase the volume, but now it won't increase the volume at all and it feels and looks as though the button is stuck the whole way in, even when I press the button with some force. I was wondering if anyone knew how I could fix it or if I need to take it to an apple store for them to fix it?!
Sorry if the way I have explained the problem is confusing, it's difficult to explain but it's extremely frustrating.

This happened to me a few weeks ago. Instead of taking it to the Apple store and paying $ the 99 service charge ( I did give Apple 139.00 13 months ago! for this ipod), I saturated the end of a q-tip w/ WD 40 and carfefully rubbed around the perimeter of the power button. I waited a half hour and then cleaned of the excess WD 40. This unstuck my power button. I guess the WD 40 dissovled all the dirt under and around (also the consrtuction of the buttons is done w/ double sided tape-- maybe a design issue) the button. A friend tried isopropyl alcohol w/ great results. Try this before you give Appple any more $$ or get a new ipod. It's been 6 wks. and my button functions perfectly,

You can sync the music videos, but they won't play on your 6G Nano, because it does not support video playback. Sorry.

My iPod Nano 6th generation will not charge or hold a charge. I plug it in and it will turn on for about 30 seconds or less and then die. It will then continue to turn on and die unless I unplug it in which case it will die and not turn on. Any advice/suggestions and/or help finding what is wrong would be greatly appreciated. My iPod nano 6th gen has worked fine for years and when I synced it recently it would play some tunes fine, cut some off mid-way through and skip some completely. The first thing I done was just tried to sync it again but this didn't make a difference so I reset my iPod through iTunes and synced it again but this made it worse, when I pressed play it comes up with the pause button but if I go to the next screen where you can see how far through the song is the bar wasn't moving, so the tunes aren't playing, so following this I formatted my iPod on my pc and then reset it on iTunes (I had to replace the folders I had removed during formatting) and that didn't do anything it still won't play anything. It's not my headphones as they work fine in my pc, and it's not my music as it worked fine before and they all play fine on my pc. What else can I do?

What do you mean by select tracks? It will only play particular tracks or repeatedly play a particular track? What format are these problem tracks in?

IPod Nano 6th Generation Volume Button Issue

The "-" volume button on my iPod Nano 6th generation is stuck in the "on" or depressed position against the case. It looks like the button either is binding against the case, or a spring-like mechanism beneath the button is broken.
Any ideas on how to fix the issue short of taking it in for a service appointment? Maybe by opening the case?

A windows error message appears saying iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.
let's get a crash log from itunes, and send it to the Apple engineers for a look.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
drwtsn32 -i
And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and and send it as an attachment to this email address.

iPod Nano 6th gen won't sync with iTunes 12.1.1.4.
This iPod was synced with another iTunes library. I had to transfer iTunes library from another laptop.
Launch iTunes (12.1.1.4), plug in Nano, Nano display says connected, Nano appears in iTunes, but when I attempt to navigate to Nano nothing occurs, or if I am able to navigate to Nano then I can't go any further and select music to sync and the Nano comes out of connected state. I have had to close iTunes, sometimes reboot laptop, but nothing I do appears to make any difference. It won't allow me to continue music selection process and start the sync process. Is there a way to simply reset the Nano and reconnect to get it to sync? I don't care about content as it needs to be resynced with this iteration of iTunes because it is currently associated with the other iTunes library.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What solved my problem:
I restored my iPod nano on my wife's PC, which had version 11 of iTunes. I was then able to sync it on my PC. Why didn't I restore it on my PC? See following details.
Additional details:
I first took the iPod to the local Apple Store, where the only course of action they could offer was to restore the iPod. So they did. When I got home, it wouldn't even connect to iTunes on my PC, which was a regression from the day before. Out of desperation I plugged it into my wife's PC, and her older version of iTunes immediately told me the iPod had been formatted on a Mac and it needed to be restored on a PC to be usable by a Windows machine. Why my newer version of iTunes couldn't tell me that is a mystery.

I wanted to add in my Christmas playlists and most recent purchases, when it wouldn't get past syncing the second song a couple of times, I tried restore and lost everything because it still wouldn't sync. Then I tried to sync to my old computer which isn't itunes 11, and doesn't have my latest songs on it. My ipod did sync then though, so it seems to be a conflict between my version of ipod nano and the latest version of iTunes??????
Has anyone had the same problem? is there a solution??

I replaced the battery in my iPod Nano 6th generation and now it won't sync with iTunes. It shows in the list as iPod recognises that it is in recovery mode, so advises to restore. Press the restore button and after a time a message says can't find the iPod

Dont buy this model again, this is the most common problem and i have gone through 4 of these 6th gen nanos all with the same problem. You can find youtube videos that show you how to fix it yourself but you run the risk of breaking your ipod, also opening the ipod voids any warrently.
