then it turned off and now will not turn back on.

  • HT4061 my phone just went off and now will not turn back on... will not connet to itunes to download or backup

ok phone worked one minute and then just cut off and has not come back on ..... no water damage no extreme temperatures.... will not sync with itunes account ... nothing ... any suggestions

try putting it on recovery mode or dfu mode  or http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 or  try to connect the iphone to your computer while holding the home button, if this doeant work more likely your battery is totally dead try doing a hard reset while the iphone is connected to the usb port by pressing the home button and sleep/wake button at same time and wait for the apple to appear and release the sleep wake button usually this works  ... restore the iphone..... if it still continueds to shut down your logic board  or the battery is already  bad

  • My ipod nano 7g went off and will not start, this happened after I connect to my computer, my ipod will restart and I no longer turn on. I do?

please help me my ipod nano 7g went off and will not start, this happened after I connect to my computer, my ipod will restart and I no longer turn on. what I do?

    Hey saintbless,
Thanks for the question. The following article outlines troubleshooting information for iPod nano. While it mostly refers to the 6th generation, most steps apply for your model as well:
iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3474
Will not turn on or screen remains dark
    - Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
    - If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting the device while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for at least eight seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
    - If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    - If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • My Iphone 4 just shut off and now will not turn back on.

My Iphone 4 just shut off and now will not turn back on. I was listening to music, it started to make a static sound then shut off and will not turn back on. What do I do?

    Battery dead?
Plug it into the charger that came with the iPhone and plug that into a known good wall outlet. Leave it plugged in for 20 minutes. Then while still plugged in reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Volume on my iPhone 5c keeps turning off, and now will not allow me to access WIFI

i went into apple bc the volume was not working at all, well now it will randomly just shut off and i will have to turn it back on, i have missed several phone calls due to this. on top of it all, it will not allow me to turn on the WIFI in either the settings or the pull up bar

If Apple serviced the phone, there is a 90 days warranty on the repair. Bring it back and let them check the phone.

  • T500 shuts down/or freezes when I plug in my AC adapter and now will not start up.

I have had my T500 for two years and I have had endless problems with this laptop. My latest issue started with the computer waking up from sleep mode with a black screen. The computer just froze there and I had to force it to shutdown. When I finally managed to get it started again, the computer gave me an alert saying that a display driver had stopped working. The computer ran fine for a while before it would issue the blue screen of death then have the same black screen issue again and shutdown. Then it got to the point where if I have my computer plugged in it would not even get to the BIOS screen, it would simply loop-restart over and over till I unplugged it, pulled out the battery, put the battery back and turned it on again. Then it would not start at all if I had my adapter plugged in and if I plugged it in at all while the computer was running, it would freeze and after a minute would shut down and again continuously try to start up. Now, the computer will not start in any way, plugged in or no. The lights all turn on like it normally does when it starts up, but then it shuts off and repeats the same process over and over again.
I have no idea what to do this time and unfortunately being a student I do not have enough money to buy an external harddrive to back up everything on this computer. Frankly with all the problems I have had with this thing, I am considering just throwing it out.

Try making a bootable Ubuntu disc and running that for a while. It's possible your Windows install is hosed.

  • Mac mini slowed down and now will not start up

    Help!
I couple days ago i noticed my mac was running a bit slower than usual but I just ignored it since I brought it home for the holidays and thought it might just be the internet connection. Then, yesterday, I turned it on in the morning and it was running so slow that it would take up to 10 minutes just to open any window. TODAY, i turned it on again to try to solve the problem after being unsuccessful yesterday, and now the fan starts blowing really loud as soon as i turn it on as if it were hot (i don't know, im not very smart with computers) and it will not load past the first grey screen or the second blue one.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem? Also, if it matters, i'm not sure what my 'OS' is and since i can't turn my mac on i can't find out what it is at the moment...
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Thanks for the info about having wrongly applied the PMU reset to your Intel Mini. That will account for the fan running full blast. Only known (cheap) fix is to apply the correct SMC reset.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964?viewlocale=en_US
(The Mini's reset procedure is at the very end of that link.)
If that fixes the fan, then we have to consider that your original problem had something to do with the hard drive. Either the hard drive was too full, or else it was starting to fail and needed to re-read sectors -- which would account for things getting very slow.
Do you have any recollection of how full the drive was? Any warning messages?
To check for HardDrive failure or file system corruption, typically one would startup the Mini from the install disc that shipped with it and run DiskUtility from the Utilities menu at the top of the screen. But it seems you can't get your hands on that disc -- and you pretty much need the kind of disc that shipped with your model of Mini.

  • Help my phone was fine turned off and now will not turn back on!!!!!

Hi Everyone, I am a grandmother who is very new to these smartphones.   I got one of the droid incrdible 2's by HTC.  The phone was working fine until one night I turned it off and went to bed.  Upon waking found the phone would not turn back on???  Has anyone had this problem???  I mean I get nothing!!!  It powers on or something because if you look real close you can see the screen is barely lit.  You can make out a blue looking screen, no apps or nothing.  I have tried taking out the battery and I just do not know where to go from here.  If anyone can help me please direct message me. (email has been edited out for the members privacy)  Thanks so much, Sistereagle

The same thing is happening with mine.  Went to the Verizon store  ... said it was a faulty battery. Low and behold none of the stores in my area even had a battery in stock.  Have had to wait 5 days for it to come in the mail.  Cost me over $30!!!!!!  Anyway ... after about 15 min.of the rep trying different things, the phone finally came on  .... barely.  He told me to keep it plugged in.  It actually started working fine for almost a week  ... now its doing it again.  Battery came today .. gonna give it a try.  Apparently this is an issue with ALOT of people with this phone.     WHY DOESN'T VERIZON ADDRESS IT!?
Makes me rethink my choices when my contract is up in February.  May do some shopping for a different carrier!  I have been a Verizon customer for forever  ... you would think they would make this right!

  • Powerbook froze and now will not start up

Maybe she decided that she was retiring but this is what happened.
I was using my Powerbook G4 800 DVI, left to get a snack, came back a few min. later, and the screen was locked up on the last page in Safari I was viewing. No track pad, no keyboard, nothing. Held the power button down till she powered off. Now it will not boot at all. Battery is nearly full, as seen on the lights on the battery.
So I opened the keyboard, and nothing seemed out of place. I removed the 2 ram chips, as I was thinking maybe they got bumped. Replaced them, still no boot, nothing, will not even try.
That was odd, but I let it sit for about 10 min, came back, still no boot, but when I went to get the ram chips out again, they were quite hot. Nothing spectacular, but it puzzled me as they were no that hot when I first forced power-off, but now the computer had been off for at least 15-20 min, and they seemed hotter than earlier. They cooled down quickly when I removed them, but I argued with myself that it could have been residual heat from the other components. So I let it sit for 30 more min, when all the components were cool, then I reinstalled the battery and ram, and tried to boot, noting, but the ram chips were definitely hot. Why would power be going through them when not booted? Short circuit? Failed ram? No matter the combination of chips, ( I have 2x512 MB) only one, in top, bottom, both in, put the bott. on top, nothing. They still got hot and no boot...
I have done a PMU reset found here, with no results
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449
The only other odd point is when I have it plugged into the wall charger, everything gets warm, much like it is processing data. The heat sinks for the CPU, and even the bott. of the case, away from the battery get warm, much like it is actually working. I have never noticed that before, but maybe I missed it? I do not think that the CPU should be getting hot while it is charging, powered off, as no fans will kick in.
I know this is long, and I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.
We have a mac store that is certified in repairs, (not a true apple store) and I trust them s we do all of our business computers through them, but I cannot get it to them till Monday. Also, so I don’t have too much sticker shock, what it is the typical service rate? (Ballpark is fine, just going to do some cost comparisons)
One more also. Lets assume my mobo/ram whatever, crapped out, and I want to get the data off the HD, what will be the best method. What if my HD crapped out, can I salvage anything?
    Again, thanks
    Spinner

    Hi spinner,
Start by trying to boot from your install disc. What are the results?
Data: if HD has died, only recourse is data recovery service, hundreds of dollars. If HD is ok, you may be able to boot into FireWire Target Disk Mode and recover your data, otherwise, you can remove the HD and install it in an external enclosure (for 2.5" HD, $50 or so; I'd recommend a FireWire or FW/USB2 model so you can boot a Mac from it in the future, and because in real world use, FW is actually faster than USB2) and connect it to any Mac to access your data.

  • IMac froze, and now will not start up properly

I left my iMac for about half an hour, and when I came back, it was completely frozen, and I had to shut it down by pressing the power button. I turned it back on, and this is what happened:
I heard the usual chime, and the grey screen popped up. However, the screen then went black, and then the grey screen popped up again. After a few seconds of solid grey screen, a little icon appeared in the middle of the screen. It looks like a little folder icon, and it alternately flashes the face from the Finder icon and then a question mark over and over.
I tried resetting the SMU and holding the Command-Option-P-R keys before the grey screen pops up, but to no avail. Any suggestions?

This exact same thing just happened to my girlfriend's iMac G5 on July 11th. After taking it to the Apple Store Genius Bar, we were told that it was a hard drive failure. they booted the computer off their external hard drive with some kind of utility program. the iMac's hard drive did not show up as a drive at all. we were told, there was nothing they could do about it. we could go to a hard drive data specialist who could attempt to extract the data on the hard drive but it would cost up to $1000, but even then the chances of getting data back are not guaranteed. we basically need to get a new hard drive.
this is lovely... for a computer that is a year and a half old, you would expect a little more longevity and reliability in it's components. my old 450MHz G4 tower, that's like 8 years old, has never caused me any problems except for being slow in speed. makes me reconsider wanting to replace my old G4 with the next iMac release.
does anyone have any other suggestions and recommendations that won't cost a thousand dollars in recovery services? thanks!

  • MacBook Pro slowed down and now will not start up- flashing symbols on start screen.

I am increasingly worried about my MacBook Pro. It had been slow for a few weeks (I think it may be infected with some kind of malware), slowed down even more, and then a couple days ago when I turned it on it flashed a question mark folder, a prohibitory sign, and the apple logo on the startup screen and will not go past that. I followed the instructions on an apple help page for this issue- Nothing connected to it; I even removed the apple power cord. I tried a safe boot. I reset the NVRAM. It said to try starting up from an OS install disc, but my computer did not come with one. Here's the bit where I'm not sure if I made a stupid decision; another site said that the computer will download a recovery partition if there is no install disc, so I booted while holding down C even though I had no disc. I then read that holding option on startup will allow you to choose which disc to start from- I did that, and the only option displayed is a disc called Recovery (with a number after it that I think was 10.something, presumably referring to the OS version). Does this mean I have lost access to  my computer's Macintosh HD? Have my files been lost? Unfortunately I do not have them backed up. Bad decision on my part.

    Thanks for the quick response.
Command-option-r does take me to a screen with a spinning globe. Below the globe is a drop-down menu from which to select a wi-fi network. My network, however, is not listed. (I am now sitting right by the router, and my iPhone is on the wifi without any problem.)  I go instead to manually type it in. I have triple checked the network name and password. I have used both the WEP key, which I have always used, and something that the sticker on the router refers to as the Mac ID, which is the WEP but with two zeros before it. Still the screen shakes as if I have entered the wrong password. I'm not sure what's going on now.

  • Laptop shut down during firefox update and now will not start up - did a uninstall and reinstall and still will not start up

firefox was installing an update and i accidently hit the power button and so it shut down in the middle of the update. after i started my computer again, firefox would not start up. i tried to download it hoping the update would complete but it still would not start up when i clicked on the icon. so i tried to delete it and it would not delete said it was open, so i shut down and restarted the computer. then it deleted using the control panel remove program option. after that i logged onto IE to mozilla.org and downloaded it, afterward it still would not open up or connect to the internet.

    Hi meekprm-
It sounds like you've tried to do the right thing- by uninstalling and then reinstalling. I'm hoping that you can look over the steps I usually suggest and see if there is anything different that may help you get a fresh version of Firefox installed.
    * Get the latest version: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
    * Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    * Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
