My iPod Nano buttons don't work...

My iPod Nano buttons don't work even tho my Hold button in off when I switch my Hold button from ON to OFF my iPod shuts off then restarts by itself. My iPod is fully charged. I have updated my iPod to the latest update. I've tried to restart my iPod many times but since the buttons don't work it doesn't happen.

If you've reset and restored and the buttons still don't work, then it needs service. Either take it along to an Apple store, or send it in.

  • [HELP] Ipod Nano Buttons Don't Work [HELP]

Okay, I had got my Ipod on December 25, 2006, but now I recently came by a problem.
I charge my Ipod, and then take it out the right way. When I try to listen to my songs, the buttons don't work, the only button that works is the HOLD SWITCH. This is getting on my nerves. Do anybody know how to fix this problem? I might have to get another one or send in for repairing. Thanks.

    First try a reset...
Put the hold switch to the OFF/White position. Now toggle it ON/orange then back off again. Then press and hold both the MENU and center buttons on the iPod and hold them for a good 15 seconds or so. Your iPod should reboot starting with the Apple Logo screen.
Obviously if your buttons are truly broken the above won't work, but worth checking anyway.
Next, try restoring the iPod and see if that clears it up.
If not, then you may have an actual hardware failure.

  • Buttons don't work unplugged, work plugged in

I am asking this question because I'm sure there's a way to fix it, but my iPod mini recently got a bit wet, and so I left it a few days and restored it and everything, but now if it is plugged into my computer and I eject it from iTunes, but leave it plugged in all of the buttons work the way they are supposed to and the iPod works (plays music, wheel works, etc), but as soon as I pull the connector out of the iPod the buttons don't work as if I put the "Hold" button on. Music continues to play, but I cannot do anything. If anybody knows a solution please reply.

You don't say how long ago it was in the steamy room.
If it was just recently, then I'd try shutting down the MacBook, then putting it in a warm, DRY environment for a week in the hope that any condensation is evaporated away.  I'd keep the MacBook open to encourage drying. Don't be tempted to keep trying it during this process. Just be patient.  However, changing its orientation every day might speed up the drying process.
It's possible that condensation might be shorting out part of the circuitry.  If this is a case then there might be permanent damage to the electronic components, but there's a good chance things might recover once it's dried out.
If it hasn't recovered after a week then I think your only option is to take it to a repairer.
    Good luck

Sounds like the battery is shot and in need of a replacement.  You can have Apple replace the battery for a flat fee or you can send it into a third party repair center for a bit less.
Not much else you can do for troubleshooting this one.

  • Click wheel and buttons don't work on 5th gen.

I have had my iPod for about half a year and for some reason my iPod buttons don't work. If I move the hold button it turns on but none of the other buttons work. It charges and everything. Does anyone know what to do?
    5th generation   Windows XP

There isn't any problem with your ipod, theres just a different way of going about when you put video games on your ipod. First, plug in your ipod. when your ipod icon appears on the left side where it usually does, click on it. Look at the top on the ipod screen that appears. The screen should give u info about your ipod. At the top look for an icon that says games. Pictures and a few other things are there but click on games. Once that screen appears click on the check mark that say sync games. After that it is pretty self explanatory. GoodLuck

My New iPod nano 6g, just stop working the screen is freezd in the menu? Pleace HELP!!!

try resetting. Hold down volume down and sleep/wake button until you see apple logo.
If that does not work, connect it to itunes, then restore.
If none of that helps, you may need to contact apple. Has it gotten wet?

  • Ipod video - buttons won't work

I opened the ipod video wrong to replace battery- top opened instead of bottom part way. Closed it and opened bottom as supposed to do. Replaced battery. Battery charged and first menu comes up but buttons don't work. Tried re-setting but buttons still don't work.

time to get it serviced: http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/ or take it by your nearest Apple Store and make a Genius Bar appointment.

  • Confusing Ipod Issue, buttons won't work

I have a 5th gen 30 gig ipod video. Recently (meaning just a few days ago) my ipod died a little. I know that it still has battery power, because I am able to hook it onto the computer and see it charge and connect.
My problem is this: The buttons don't work. The only thing on my ipod that's working is my hold slide. Apart from that, the buttons do not work AT ALL. I've been trying to reset it, but i can hold the menu and center button for a whole minute and it will not work at all. the clicker wheel does absolutely nothing, as does the other buttons. The ipod is working, as far as i can tell, just not the buttons. I'm honestly confused as to what i can do. Anybody out there that can help me?

Did you try performing a RESTORE on it while plugged in to the computer and seen by iTunes?

  • Ipod home button doesn't work

My Ipod home button doesn't work no matter what I try. I think it is a mechanical problem but don't know how much they'll charge.

  • 30GB iPod Classic Buttons do not work

    Hi guys,
My iPod classic buttons suddenly stopped working today (apart from when I do the reset with Menu + select which is odd).
I have tried to restore, format, reinstall itunes, reset multiple times but none of this works.
The iPod is now just stuck on the select language screen that you get to after restoration.
    What do I do?

I saw that...  And I said that if the Hold swtich is not ON, and you have already done a Restore, it is likely to be a hardware-related problem on the iPod.  It sounds like the iPod is seeing that the Hold switch is ON, even when it is in the OFF position.

  • Ok I have an fully upgraded iPad 2 and the volume button don't work but it do with headphones can someone help

Ok I have an fully upgraded iPad 2 and the volume button don't work but it do with headphones can someone help. I try to go to settings and the volume won't go up there either I have the home button gesture and still the same. I try resting my iPad and nothing no sound work unless I have my headphones in. Do anybody know how to fix this

Did you try rebooting the iPad? You will need to have some battery power for this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • The power button and the volume buttons don't work

The power button ant the volume buttons don't work. I've tried to restore a previous version and doesn't work.
    I use iOs 5.
    Thanks

If you did not restore to factory defaults/new iPod try that.  If you still have a problem after that then you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • "Archive" and "View" buttons don't work after folio update

    Hi all,
I have a subscription to the professional edition and I have built a custom viewer app for Android. I have built about 10 folios and at first download all is ok, the folios are displayed without problems and the app works fine except for one issue: "Archive" button don't work, when I tap on it, near folio cover, nothing happens, the folio does not disappear from folios list.
But the serious problem occurs when I perform a folio update from Folio Producer ('Update content' from adobe dashboard DPS): both "Archive" and "View" buttons stop working, nothig happens when I tap tap on them and I am forced to uninstall and reinstall the application on tablet (.apk file) to see folio changes in my custom viewer.
This is very annoying as well as time expensive.
Tablet is Samsun Galaxy Tab SII with Android 3.2.
    Any help is appreciated.

To the best of my knowledge, the SII is a smartphone and not a tablet device, and the official claim is (correct me if I'm wrong) that DPS on Android is corrently tablet only.
Anyway, it seems strange to me so checked and found out that even though the DPS apps are not available when you search for them in the Play Market of a smartphone you can still force load them to the phone and run them.
I've done it on both a Samsung SIII running Android 4.0.4 and a Samsung GT-I9070 running Android 2.3.6 (I currently don't have a device running Android 3.2)
The interface is so small that it's hardly possible to use it, but it works.

My Finder is going crazy.  Keep getting a message saying it quit unexpectedly and asking if I want to restore windows, but I can't get it to stop.  buttons don't work.

    Something else you can try.
In Finder hold down the option/alt key while selecting the Go menu item. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you want to make your user library permanently visible, run the below command in Applications/Terminal.
    chflags nohidden ~/Library/
You will need to do that after any updates.
