My Ipod NANO cannot be detected by my PC and Itunes

Hi,
I've owned my ipod NANO for over a year now, a month ago it refused to start, it said "Very low battery power, please wait." for a while but i got that fixed, now i can charge the Ipod again and thats great but i cant put new songs on the Ipod anymore because my PC cant detect the Ipod, nor can Itunes.
I've tried alot of the things you can do but it doesnt work. Please help!
I got ITUNES 8.1, i had version 7 so i figured maybe updating could work but no.

Also i might add that on my full green battery sign i see some sort of plug sign which ive never seen before, maybe thats because its at its maximum battery capacity right now?
But thats not all, when my Backlight dims, a big green battery sign appears with a plug on it. I cant recall ever seeing such a screen on my ipod, maybe this means something?

I wish I could help. I have seen this question so many places since the problem began for me that I can only assume that either Apple does not care about the problem or that, as I have begun to suspect, this is just a serpentine way to get people to buy a new one every year.
Well, sorry, I don't have that kind of cash. Not many people have it to spare right now, either. They can help me use the one I have or lose a customer. Because I don't have such a pressing need for iTunes without that iPod. And the online help didn't help. I'll be danged if I'm going to wipe every song off the iPod without knowing for certain that it will fix the problem and that I will be able to put them back! So it's just a fancy music box now, by the looks of it, isn't it? Whatever is on there already is all I get. So be it. I won't be buying another.
I hope they respond soon, but it looks bleak. There's an unholy number of unanswered questions on here, and none of the answered ones seem to have been addressed by Apple people.

  • Ipod Nano does not appear in "My Computer" and "Itunes"

I was charging my Ipod Nano. I erased all the songs from the nano to create a new playlist. The Ipod froze in the "Do not disconnect" phase. It was disconnected a few hours later (not intentionally). Now it has disappeared from Itunes and the computer does not recognize it. The Ipod screen still says "Do not Disconnect". I have tried to reconnect the device many times. I have tried to "toggle the hold button" and even shut the computer down and restarted it to see if it would recognize the ipod. No luck. I cannot turn the ipod on and the screen is still dark and the "Do Not Disconnect" seems to be perminant. HELP!

  • Is the iPod nano [second generation] supported by OS Lion and iTunes 10

    Hi All
I cannot "see" my 2nd gen iPod nano on iTunes 10.6 running on a new iMac with OS Lion.
I have worked through the various troubleshooters to no avail. Have Apple ceased to support the 2nd gen nano?

  • Which iPod Nano on OS X 10.4.11 and iTunes 9.2.1?

    Hello,
I'd like to know which iPod Nanos (i.e. generations/models) I can use with OS X 10.4.11 and iTunes 9.2.1.  I can't find such a compatibility chart on the site.
Note that I am not interested in syncing my laptop iTunes and the iPod per se.  All I want to do is for the iPod to mount as an external drive/device via USB, copy selected mp3s to it, and then independently play them.
    Thanks for any info.

You can't directly copy them and play them. I believe the 3rd Generation and below will work with your setup. You would need to set up the Nano to manually manage your music and drag them from your iTunes library to your Nano.

  • Ipod shuffle is not detecting in both windows  and itunes,  its not charging as well

Suddently my IPOD stopped  detecting in my PC, i have tried in another laptop with windows XP as  well, but still it just blinks 3 times and goes off. Hence i am unable to  charge or upload the songs into  the ipod shuffle. It was working until 2 days back.
Can anyone please suggest a solution for this problem
I have tried  by connecting to different USB ports as well.

Buttons are working fine, because when i switch on the ipod and plugged it in the charger, it shows first as green and then moving to orange (after 3 to 4 blinks) its goes off
And also i tried resetting the ipod as well (as per suggested for 2nd generation)
Today, i gave a try from my another machine \
    * i switched off the ipod
    * i plugged into the charger
    * it blinks for 3 to 4 times and then goes off. with this plugging itself, i switched on the ipod
    * i plugged out the cable from the machine and plugged it back immediately
    * This time it is getting charged
    * i allowed it to charge for 2 hours and plugged out and now i could see playing songs successfully
But the problem the same thing is not working in my personal laptop, it is with WIn 7 (whereas the machine which is working with is WIn XP)
Even i tried to see whether it is detecting in Itunes of my personal laptop, it is not getting detected and not getting charged also. So i uninstalled the itunes and tried again, but it still it is not getting detected in Personal laptop and not charging also.

  • IPod nano cannot be recognized by my computer (and then some)

i recently got a 4 GB nano and my computer cannot read it. i have itunes installed and it runs perfectly well. but when i connect the ipod, it brings up a message saying that windows cannot recognize the hardware because of a malfunction.
i know that the ipod works as i have tested it on another computer and was able to put a few songs on there. i would use the other computer but it has other problems that limit ipod operation (CDs can't be read)
not only will my computer not recognize it, but more often now when i connect the ipod the computer completely restarts as soon as the ipod comes on.
i don't know what's wrong but i know that the ipod works fine and i have used the USB ports numerous times before
    can anyone help?

  • I had an old iPod nano with my files saved on it and was stolen. I cannot find my old account. I bought an iTouch and made the new account that was needed for it to function. I was wondering how i could find my old account and get all the content back.

I had an old iPod nano with my content saved on it and was stolen. As well, I can't find and access my old account that I had with it. I bought an iPod touch and made a new account so that I could use the iTouch. Anyone know how to find the old account and how to transfer data from the old one to the new account?

  • Ipod nano (5th generation) - want to use headphones and charge at the same time

I have an ipod nano (5th generation).  Do I need a special set of headphones to use the headphone jack and charge the ipod at the same time?

The iPod nanos have a 30 pin dock connector and a headphone jack. When you charge the iPod you use the dock connector therefore you can use and charge at the same time. You cannot use and charge the iPod shuffle at the same time. You might have the two mixed up.

  • My ipod nano generation 3 is no longer recognized in itunes, my ipod nano generation 3 is no longer recognized in itunes

My Ipod nano generation 3 is not being recognized by itunes as a device?  It shows it connected by doesnt sync

Thanks KT, after following your advice the iPod nano and the two cameras are now visible in iTunes or iPhoto and also in Finder.
The cameras continue to work consistently with iPhoto but since trying to complete a 'Restore' with the iPod nano I've had a string of error messages and it is now no longer useable. I'll be posting for help on this in the iPod discussion forum.

  • I upgraded to iTunes 11.0. My iPod Nano 4th Version will sync, but music and playlists will not appear to manage and add more songs. Is there a fix?

I upgraded to iTunes 11.0. My iPod Nano 4th Version will sync, but music and playlists will not appear to manage and add more songs. Is there a fix?

If I go from 'Devices' to Summary and then Music, I only get one option-Sync Music,There is a box on this page but the options within it are grayed out. If I tick the Sync Music option I get this message-
'Are you sure you want to remove existing music, films, ect, from this ipod and sync with this itunes library?
'Music synced to (my ipods name) from other itunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this itunes library' I have only ever used itunes on this PC and the 'Manually manage music and videos' is ticked but
that must be a default setting as I haven't ticked it.

Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.

  • IPod nano 5th Gen appears in Finder but not iTunes

I am trying to restore my 5th Generation iPod Nano, but it will not show up in iTunes 12.0.1.26. It does however appear in Finder as a disk image allowing me to access certain directories, like Calendars, Contacts, DCIM, Notes, and Recordings. I've tried resetting the iPod, putting it in Disk Mode, etc. I've gone through all the support. I've tried using iExplorer. Does anyone know anything else I can try?

I understand that your iPod nano is not appearing in iTunes and you have already completed some great troubleshooting. In this situation, I would suggest continuing troubleshooting by completing the steps in the attached iPod nano Troubleshooting Assistant.
