my iPod nano had got in water. can i fix it?

Put your iPod in a warm place (an airing cupboard for instance) and let it dry out naturally for about a week (I seen a few tips on this such as placing it in a bowl of uncooked rice to help the process along). Do not connect it to your computer or any other power source during that time. After that charge it up and you may, I stress may be fortunate enough to get it working again.

  • Just lost my ipod nano. still got serial number. can I find it?

    Hi! I'm Stephora
I lost my Ipod this friday.:( think I dropped it near bus stop not too far from my house. ( I live in Auteuil, Laval) someone probably took it by now.  is there a way to find it?
it was an Ipod nano 6th generation small colour grey.
I really hope I can find it. do not wanna spend over 180$ on another ipod.

I am not sure if you can track it since ipod nano is not integrated with Icloud locate device services. Sorry.

  • If I've lost or had my iPod nano 3rd gen stolen, how can i find the serial numbers? Nothing in iTunes but i am sure i linked them before...

They are not listed as devices on the itunes store account...

    Hi BradSLane,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has one method to find your serial number:
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product

If you have lost or found an Apple product, please contact your local law enforcement agency to report it. Although Apple does not have a process to track or flag lost or stolen product, you can use My Support Profile to find a list of serial numbers that have been purchased or registered with your Apple ID.
    Go to My Support Profile*.

No.  You can turn your 6G Nano in to be recycled at your local Apple Store for a 10% discount towards the purchase of a new one. Otherwise, your only other option would be to sell the iPod on Craigslist or eBay and use the proceeds from the sale towards the purchase of the new 7G nano.

  • Formatted my new iPod Nano 4Gb and my application can't find the Device ID

    Hi,
Just bought a new Nano 4Gb, updated it to 2006-06-28 (1.2) and of course it couldn't be recognized by Windows after that. Followed the instruction and formatted the Nano and made a Restore, worked fine!
Now to my problem, when using my application Anapod Explorer (from www.redchairsoftware.com) it can connect to the Nano but it says the iPod don't have any Device ID so it can't authenticate to the iPod...
Anyone more who is using this superb software?
It seems like if some information is missing in the iPod after the formatting of it...
    Please advice!
    Best Regards

    Additional Information:
Since some information seems to be missing on my iPod Nano 4Gb I compared the files with my iPod Video 60Gb.
    Comparing the directories: [driveletter]:\iPod_Control\Device
on my iPod Nano 4Gb and my iPod Video 60Gb
    iPod Nano 4Gb:
The file SysInfo is empty, containing no data when opened in Notepad.
    iPod Video 60Gb:
The file SysInfo is of 1KB and another file named "_unlocked" is present.
The information in the SysInfo file is:
    BoardHwName: iPod M25
    pszSerialNumber: JQ6040HFTXL

I have done the diagnstic test on the Nano and there are no errors and the iPod Nano is functional but I can only use iTunes to load it with music, I can't use the wonderful Anapod Explorer.
    Another thing:
When connecting my iPod Video to my computer it shows up with a drive looking like an MP3 player, when connecting my iPod Nano it shows up looking like an ordinary disc drive.

Really.  You cannot exchange a 32 gb for a 16 gb at all.

Hello! Not a problem, because you will get a Ipod Nano 1st generation as a replacement, not a new / latest generation.

  • I purchased a season of a TV show from itunes and it won't go onto my ipad, i've purchased several seasons in the past and never had this issue, how can i fix this?

I purchased a season of a TV show from itunes and it won't go onto my ipad, i've purchased several seasons in the past and never had this issue, how can i fix this?

Drew how is that even possible? I use gift cards all the time, any time I've had insufficient funds iTunes will not allow the purchase, sights Insufficient funds and rejects the purchase. Any time I log into my account the money in that account appears in the upper left corner. If you're not seeing that then you have other issues. Anyway... Kneil is right you should be able to rip CDs you own to your iTunes library (regardless of your money matters with iTunes), then depending on how you set up the music you need to add it to your playlist and then sync it to your iPod. Did imported music ever work? How are you ripping or importing the music to iTunes? Are you using a compatible format?
Something else to look at-- It's possible your cable is defective, have you tried a new or different cable? Some of what your describing is a bad cable issue. Good luck, Cheers.

  • Some of the apps previously downloaded have now become blank - white box instead of picture. Name of app still appears. Have tried hard reboot and sync to make sure everything is up to date. Anybody ever had this? How can I fix?

One more thing to try.  Double click on the home button.  Scroll in that bottom line of icons (swipe finger to left) to the app that are all white.  Hold your finger on the app until the - sign appears.  Tap it to close the app.  Hopefully it will then show up correctly.  (As they say about chicken soup curing a cold, "can't hurt")

My ipod's data has crashed, how can i fix it?

Try a hard reset first.  To do this, toggle the hold switch on and off, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
This may or may not work the first time around, so be sure to try this more than once if necessary.

  • My iPod nano had some water damage. I left it in a bag of rice for several months. Finally decided to plug it into my computer and it works but the screen is mainly white. I can see some of the details if I hold it at an angle.

In May I sent my iPod nano through the wash for a few minutes and then put it in a bag of rice. I decided to take it out today and plug into my computer. The computer recognizes it and seems to be charging and playing music just fine. However, my screen for the most part is white. If you hold it at an angle it is possible to see some details but it is very difficult. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to do?

It sounds like the water may have damaged the iPod's LCD display.  You can try working through each of the recommended 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out any possibility of a software glitch or data corruption.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
Sometimes it helps to the iPod's battery fully drain.  Then charge it back up and again and repeat the 5 R's again if necessary.

  • IPod Nano (1GB, 1st Gen.) can't be recognized by iTunes

I have been having problems Sync'ing my iPod nano with iTunes, however, the more I read help articles and follow the steps, the worse the problem gets. (I'm on a PC using Windows XP)
I've gotten to the point where I updated my iPod software in Disk mode (up until then it was being recognized only in Disk mode), but when iTunes failed to recognize it when not in Disk mode I preceded to restore my iPod to factory settings, as instructed in the help articles.
Now, up until then, I still had music in my iPod, and I was being able to charge it and listen to my music even though I couldn't sync the iPod anymore. After restoring, I not only lost my music (which I was aware of), but it STILL did not fix my problem. So I started to get annoyed.
I then noticed that my iPod was being recognized by My Computer, just not by iTunes, so I began to perform the steps indicated in the following article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
I restarted my iPod service - no luck
I removed iTunes - no luck
I emptied my Temp directory and restarted...
That's when iTunes stopped recognizing my iPod altogether, not even in Disk mode. Not only that, but it seems to have affected the iPod itself, since it won't turn off or exit Disk mode anymore. So now I'm scared of going though with any more steps on whichever "help" articles and making the problem even worse than it already is (if that's possible).
The only other information I can provide is that windows is still recognizing my iPod, no problem, and when I connect my iPod, iTunes actually launches... but DOESN'T recognize a thing. So I ran a diagnostics using iTunes and here's what I got (iPod diagnostics):
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
    INTEL_ D945GCL_
    iTunes 7.3.2.6
    iPodService 7.3.2.6 is currently running.

No IEEE 1394 Host Controller found.
    Connected Device Information:
IPOD (H:\), iPod nano running firmware version 1.3.1
All green lights, and as you can see, according to iTunes, NO PROBLEM! Except that it won't recognize the iPod that the diagnostics says exists and reads... ?!?!?!
If anyone could shed some light on my situation, i would be VERY greatful!

I've experienced the same issues, but apparently went to the next level. My computer does not recognize the ipod at all. As soon as we put a 2GB nano on and updated the software the 1GB started having problems. When we went through the diagnostics and web support it got worse. When we called support and spent 90 minutes on the line it completely stopped working and I felt lucky that the new ipod worked. The 1GB now plays and works fine away from the computer and will recharge in the dock that is not hooked to the PC, but itunes does not recognize it and we cannot update with new music.
I took it to Mac authority who could not diagnose the problem and said they'd never seen or heard of this issue. They could not even make the Mac recognize it as an external drive. After spending $20.00 to just have it diagnosed, they told me it needed a new logic board which would cost between $59 and $89 less the $20 I'd already blown. I am MUCH less than satisfied with the results, and have been told that I could buy another one for $20.00 off and a small discount.
The problem is, the 1GB worked until the moment we added the 2GB, now my son is being penalized because my daughter got a new nano, and I'm expected to shell out more money....If you find a resolution that doesn't cost more than the worth of the ipod, I would love to hear it.

  • IPod nano had unexpected error syncing

    Hi
Yesterday whilst syncing my iPod Nano 5G with iTunes 10.3, I recieved an unexpected error message from iTunes telling me that nine files had corrupted and that my device needed to be restored. I have not restored the device yet but now whenever I connect my iPod to my PC windows asks me to scan the device for corrupted files and iTunes asks me to restore.
If I Restore the iPod will I lose the built in games that were on the device when I purchased it or any other important data which can't be retrieved afterwards?
    Thanks

Update: After again repeating the 5Rs (instead of re-install, downloaded latest version of iTunes which prompted for "repair" rather than "install"), a message asking me if I wanted to update my iPod software came up. I accepted, and following the install was able to sync without the "corrupted" message. Of course when the sync was finished, I tried to play my iPod and noticed that there was no music on it (so in fact the sync hadn't really worked). Since then, all I get when connecting the iPod is the "corrupted" message, even after another reset.
