My iPod Nano is no longer being detected by my MacBook Pro

It does not show up in my device list so I don't see it in iTunes on my MacBook Pro. Nevertheless I can see it on my wife's iMac... but I don't want to sync it with her computer but mine! I wonder if I took it off the list by mistake when I thought I deleted my Mini iPad... How can I get it back so I can start syncing again with my MacBook Pro?

I have the same issue. Ever since the "auto security update" my iPod shuffle and iPod Nano do not show in iTunes. I know the "auto security update" is the culprit, as these devices were not showing up on the iMac. I tried them on Macbook Air, and they showed up in iTunes, that is until the auto update installed on the MacBook Air. After the updates, these iPods do not show up under devices in iTunes. They are however visible on both my mac's in the desktop. Please help.

iPod Nano 6th Generation.
PS. I though I had done something wrong, and deleted iTunes, and reinstalled iTunes. Reset my iPod Nano, etc. Tried everything, I am now stuck with 2 bricks as of now.

  • I have an external hard drive and it randomly stopped being detected on my macbook pro

Hi, I've got a seagate backup plus external hard drive that randomly stopped being detected by my macbook pro for no reason. I've tried it on my friends macbook pro and it works fine, his macbook is just about identical to my macbook. Help would be apprieciated!

Here's my lo-tech solution (if you have Parallels) to this frustrating problem:
    Eject your hard drive.
Unplug (USB) your hard drive from the MAC .
    Start Parallels.
When Windows has started, plug your drive back into the MAC.
You should get a little screen asking if you want the drive to be utilized by MAC or Windows. Select Windows.
Use Windows to copy your files over to the hard drive.
This is less than ideal and not a long-term solution, but I was afraid of attempting any reformatting since I have many files on my hard drive.
Just remember that Windows has to be running first, before you plug in your hard drive.

  • My iPod nano's bluetooth won't connect with my Macbook Pro after pairing, why?

Just purchased a new 7th generation iPod nano, synced it up to my iTunes account using the cable and charged it fully.
All working fine, except for when I tried to then connect it via bluetooth.
My Macbook Pro (which also has all the latest updates) was able to discover my iPod and when prompted to pair I did so and was presented with a code to verify on my iPod nano's screen. I clicked to confirm, and that is where the journey stopped.
when I try to connect it tells me it has failed and asks if it is within range, when it was sat an inch away.
I have tried reseting the iPod, forgetting the connection and pairing again several times, and tried to pair and connect whilst the cable was attached.
I'm assuming it's the iPod that is at fault as my mouse is fine.
I have run out of ideas.

Just sync, I'm not sure what else it is suppose to be able to do as I am yet to achieve a connection.
I am assuming it should be able to sync my library, playlists, etc.

  • My SD card isn't being detected by my MacBook Pro

My SD card isn't being detected by my mid 2012 MacBook Pro. It's detected fine by my camera and my iPad (using the Camera Connection Kit), but not my computer. I've tried it in both OS X Mavericks and Windows 8.1 using my Boot Camp partition, but it's not being detected at all in either OS. This has worked before just fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong and how I can resolve it?

I too facing the same problem after installing Mavericks. I tried opening iphoto first and then inserting SD card, that also doesnot detect. waiting for other solutions......thanks in advance

  • Ethernet Cord not being detected by 2008 Macbook Pro

My macbook pro that I purchased late 2008 is no longer seeing that it is connected to an ethernet cord. Other computers can connect to this cord though and work fine. Is this a problem I would have to bring my computer into a Mac store for?

If you would like it fixed then yes. Rarely have I seen Ethernet chips go bad but it does happen.
First try a different cable, I know you said the original cable works with other computers but just try it.
Second look inside the Ehternet port on you Mac. Are all the wires/pins straight?
If not that could be the problem, they got bent somehow and are now not connecting properly to the cable.
You couls try moving them back into the correct position but in the end you may need to take it in to be fixed.
Problem is that port is soldered onto the Logic/Mother Board and the only ay to fis it is to change out the Ligic/Mother board whih is expensive.
    Good Luck.

My ipod nano is no longer recognized by itunes after I installed windows 8.1.  The ipod nano still is recognized and works with a Windows 7 computer

    Hello, Pete.
Here is an article I would recommend going through when an iPod is not recognized by iTunes or the computer.
iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369
Usually the resolution is updating the Apple Mobile Device Driver.  See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.

My ipod nano will no longer sync with itunes since i purchased an iphone 4s and synced the phone with itunes.  When I plug my ipod into my imac, it does not even read or recognize my ipod.  What do i do?

Are you using the original cable that came with Nano and not your iPhone's cable?  Have you worked through the troubleshooting in this Apple support document?

  • Purchases made on my ipod touch are no longer being transferred to the Mac...but yet they are showing up in "grey" in the purchased list on the Mac.  Any clues as to what is going on?

What used to work just fine, is no longer working...
Within the last 2 days, song purchases that were made on my ipod Touch are no longer being transferred when the ipod synchs up.  The strange thing is that the songs appear in iTunes --> Store -- Purchased list, but are greyed out.  They play just fine on the ipod...but aren't making it back to the Mac.
I have tried right clicking on the ipod when it appears in iTunes and selecting "Transfer purchases", but that doesn't seem to work either.
Any clues as to what is going on?
    Thanks,
    Tim

One other very important piece of information I forgot to include...the purchases were made prior the iOS update.  So the sequence of events went like this:
    1) ipod Touch with previous iOS (4.0 I think)
    2) purchases made
    3) ipod connected and iTunes prompts for iOS update
    4) iOS upgraded to 5.0
    5) Now the purchases seem to be stranded on the ipod Touch
    Thanks!

  • My 4th generation ipod nano backlight no longer working. Any suggestions

My 4th or 5th generation ipod nano backlight is no longer working.  Any suggestions?

    Hi grecokev,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
You mention that your iPod nano is no longer recognized by iTunes after an update. Reinstalling iTunes is a good troubleshooting step, and if the device still doesn't appear in iTunes, try the following steps next:
Turn off your computer and your iOS device or iPod, then turn them on again.
Check to make sure that you've installed all required updates for your computer.
Verify that the 30-pin to USB cable or Lightning Connector to USB cable is free of debris and not damaged. If another cable is available, test with that cable instead.
USB cables that are bundled with third-party products or accessories might work only to charge those products and might not transmit data. Also, if you're using a third-party case or extended battery pack, try removing the case and connecting the Apple-supplied USB cable directly to your device.
You can find these steps in this troubleshooting article:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
If the steps above don't solve it, see the section of the article called "Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed" for some additional steps to try on your PC.
    Best Regards,

  • After LION update web Cam is no longer being detected at all. Does anyone have a fix? Thank you

After LION update web Cam is no longer being detected at all. Does anyone have a fix? Thank you

    Thank you, Rod!
While researching frame rate I came across this helpful blog posting: Crazy about Captivate: Lessons Learned: Video and Resolution in Adobe Captivate
This is the line that caught my attention: "I discovered, after several experiments, that if you publish a course in Captivate as SCALABLE with a video inserted, no matter what the resolution, it makes the video look pixelated."
When I unclick the "scalable HTML content" button before publishing, the video is fine!
Big sigh of relief! Now I just need to figure out why audio won't play on one of the slides (it has an accordian widget, if that's relevant) and why I can no longer use Effects (I get the message, "Effect file is not valid")

  • My Toshiba external hard drive is no longer being recognised by my Macbook Air - solution?

My Toshiba external hard drive is no longer being recognised by my Macbook Air. The light on the hard drive is on, but it won't appear on my computer's desktop or anywhere else. How can I fix this?

    Hi rivraff,
If you are having issues mounting an external hard drive volume, you may want to see if it shows up and/or can be repaired in Disk Utility; you may find the following article helpful:

    Hi ChristianHelpplz,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It seems like your iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, but your iPhone 6 is working normally.
I recommend starting with these steps to troubleshoot your iPod touch and connection with your Mac:
    Check your USB connections
Unplug other USB devices from your Mac and try again.
    Try a different USB port.
    Try a different USB cable.
    Restart your device
Restart your iOS device or reset your iPod.
    Restart your Mac
Turn your Mac off and back on.
    Update your software
Check for software updates on your Mac.
    Check for an iTunes update.
    Check your security software
If you have security software installed, learn how to resolve issues between iTunes and your security software.

If you've tried these steps and your iPod touch is still not recognized, try placing it into Recovery Mode next:

I've also been getting an image with the folder and question mark. I've tried everything on the apple support page but it doesn't seem to work either.

Well, I tried all of your suggestions and they didn't work -- no surprise because I was trying to backup to my external c.d. disk.  Duh!  The application for the home is in the mail.

My WD external hard drive will not longer show up on my macbook pro.  The light turns on and you can hear it running but it won't show up either in finder or in the disk utility.  This happened a while ago but I really want to get all my photos off the hard drive.  Is there anything I can do to get my computer to read it again or get my data off of it?
I don't have access to another Mac to test it.

dead sata bridge card. very common problem.
    see all about it here:
Your dead external hard drive is likely fine! Great hope for your 'faulty' external HD
verify HD on another Mac however, if same, dead SATA card most likely
